He looked at the first young man and asked: "Son, what skills can you bring to the Air Force?" The young man looks at him and says: "I'm a pilot!" The General gets all excited, turns to his aide and says: “Get him in today, all the paper work done, everything, do it!" The aide hustles the young man off. The General looks at the second young man and asks: "What skills to you bring to the Air Force?" The young man says: "I chop wood!" “Son,” the g -

I built a model of that thing a few years ago. Looks good but ultimately old tech inside. Like putting a Ferrari body on a VW Beetle chassis! The ultimate kit-car.

Merlin engines - airworthiness questioned

The problem seems to be BBMF specific. No other operators are reporting problems and the grounding is NOT CAA ordered. It seems to stem from one of the Hurricanes. Just the RAF being over cautious.- 4 replies

Excellent shots, I used to see SW DC-8s and CL-44s at Heathrow back in the 70s. The black and gold livery always looked very striking.

Easyjet A319 departing London City for Edinburgh. Last run of the day with just a few businessmen to take home to Scotland. We follow the flight until she's over Yorkshire. (at which point it was dinner time so just shoved her on AP and left her too it!) Getting ready to roll climbing out over London turning North course set the long cruise to Scotland Evening sunshine As the sun sets we're over Yorkshire. Thank you for flying with Easyjet

Unless you live in a cave without TV you cannot fail to have seen the footage of our new carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth coming into her home port of Portsmouth, Hampshire. She is an impressive ship and once fully operational will become a major asset not only to the Royal Navy but NATO as a whole. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-40936071

Armstrong Whitworth Atalanta of Imperial Airways on her way back to London from India. This stage takes her from Aden in Yemen to Najran in SAudi Arabia. The Yemen peninsular is an inhospitable place with mountainous terrain and harsh conditions, The tribespeople who inhabit the region are still governed by various warlords and tribal elders. White people are generally not welcome there. All the more reason for the crew to make sure their engines keep turning. This is no place for a forced landing. Thankfully she touches town at Najran to refuel just after sunset. the next leg will take her
