  1. Super job! watch out for wind sheer around those mountains.
  2. It's a fabulous place. We spent some time there in 2008. Hard to think it's part of Britain in some places. Plenty of places to eat. I recommend you fly out there rather than take the ship,( you get more time in the islands that way. ) It is one of our favourite parts of England. Well worth visiting if you get the chance. This was the video I posted on our approach.

  4. Either way it's a bloody shame. That aircraft had a contra prop for a while when they stuck a Shackleton engine in her. She's had a very chequered history. I really hope they can rebuild her. Looking at that video, he opened up far too quickly and then the torque took over and he lost the aircraft. A stupid , stupid mistake. Any pilot with an ounce of sense knows that you don't take liberties with a Spitfire. They are known for being feisty birds.
  5. Got to keep the RAF boys at Chivenor well fed! Nice job.
  6. Great ride Dolf, two airports I know well. Looks like an interesting flight.
  7. Supermarine Scimitar departing Culdrose on a training mission. The brief was simple, fly down to the Scilly Isles. overfly and photograph the airport. Hit two targets on another Island without scaring the locals, Do a security check on an offshore rig, check out a suspicious boat and then recover to St Mawgan/ Newquay. Weather damn near perfect.Game on! The Aircraft is the Freeware model from Rob Richardson. http://www.robertjamesrichardson.co.uk/page3.html Thanks for viewing
  8. Had to go and pick up someone from Southampton Airport yesterday evening. Their flight was due in from Malaga and they needed a lift back to Chichester. Sure I could have driven it but decided to take the Beagle Pup instead. The Pup is a light civil aircraft that was later developed into the highly successful Bulldog military trainer and is easily distinguished by the closed in cabin rather than the Bulldogs perspex dome. It's a delightful aircraft to fly and was perfect for this jaunt. I departed Goodwood (EGHR) and followed the A27/M27 along the south coast, overflying Portsmouth Harbour a
  9. It's this aircraft. A French owned and based machine. PS890 http://www.touchdown-aviation.com/flying-legends/plane/france--privately-owned/supermarine-spitfire-pr-mk-xix-f-azjs.php
  10. Still trying to find out more info in English, but so far it doesn't look good. Apparently the pilot has been taken to hospital but that's about all I can make out. Not sure which aircraft it was. http://www.estrepublicain.fr/actualite/2017/06/11/longuyon-l-avion-se-retourne-au-decollage It appears to be this aircraft. A Mk XIX https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Longuyon+spitfire+crash&tbm=isch&imgil=ASO7J-oCBEdVQM%3A%3BZs8IlEabCzYi9M%3Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fwww.lequotidien.lu%252Fgrande-region%252Flonguyon-lavion-se-retourne-au-decollage%252F&source=iu&pf=m
  11. Fair enough mate, I didn't realise.
  12. The Lone Ranger and Tonto are riding across the badlands when Tonto stops, gets off his horse and puts his ear to the ground. After a few seconds he looks up And says "We go quick kimosabbi, I feel buffalo come! " The Ranger looks down at him and says" How can you tell?" Tonto looks up and says, "Easy, left ear all sticky! "
  13. Great pics Dolf. Glad you enjoyed our little island.

  18. Cheers Guys, I've been type 2 Db since 2000 but at the time they think it could have been missed by my previous GP in London for anything up to 6 years! I started with just metformin tablets but since 2012 am on insulin injections as well. Marie has been type 1 Db for about 25 years or more so between us we do keep an eye on things. However whilst we can control what sugar we add to food, there are hidden sugars in almost anything one buys in the shops. We now check ingredient lists on food packaging and if Sugar or Sucrose etc is high on that list it stays on the shelf. You have to watch a lot
  19. If it's the one I think you're referring to, I saw that happen! It was around 1970 at Heathrow. A light aircraft was just landing having been preceded by a then very new B747. At the time no-one had realised the separation needed behind one of those things was a lot more than the older jets. As the little single engined job touched down the 747s exhaust wake blew him right off the runway and he finished up stuck underneath a BEA Viscount that was parked outside their maintenance area. adjacent to 28R. I was on the Queens Building viewing area with some mates aircraft spotting and we all saw it
  20. Ryanair offer their cheapest flight yet, the plane lands wherever it wants to, and you just have to be there to catch it!
  21. All of a sudden Cary Grant realises he's NOT in The Six Million Dollar Man and he cannot out run an aeroplane!
  22. Okay, so this is some weird shit going on with my eyes. A few weeks ago I had bad blurred vision in my left eye. Having seen both the optician, and my doctor, I was called for an urgent appointment at the hospital. After several tests etc the told me that there was a shadow on my left eye and would need surgery. They said it was some sort of cataract. Today I was back to the hospital for what I thought would be a pre-op assessment. A different doctor saw me, did a few tests and then told that there is no surgery needed. there are no cataracts causing concern and that the blurring was probably
