No not with photo real scenery as the default FSX cartoon scenery is underneath so you wouldn't see the water. So you have to make a water mask in FSET which allows the FSX water to show through the photo scenery. Hope I'm making some sense here? Cheers Michael.

Thanks all for the compliments. Its FSET using 1M/PIX default resolution and the satellite images courtesy of Bing. Although we are over 100 Klms from the centre of the quakes the largest recorded at 6.5 it did rattle the house but no structural damage. Cheers Michael.

I have made this FSX scenery at 30 cm per Pix and the pictures above are at 500 feet and 100 feet. It does not have a water mask as my simple method of creating the water is to use the default blue which matches the default colour in FSX with the "Water Effects" slider switched off.

Thanks for your positive feed back. I just realized that the folder is not too big so I can We Transfer it to those of not too a nervous disposition if any forum member would like a copy. I should point out that it does not have a water mask just my simple method of painting in a similar colour to my FSX default blue so the "Water Effects" slider in FSX should be switched off.

GE have moved on with their latest images for Jersey. My home made photo real scenery has been made in 30 cm per Pix and flying at 500 feet looks very good. In fact dare I say its far better than the Bing images!!

During the wet days, not that there were many, and dark winter evenings I decided to try some on line courses and exams with the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association in America. This also kept me busy while the computer downloaded satellite images for the flight simulators photo real scenery. First I tackled and achieved certificates of competence in various fields and levels with the AOPA. Hi Paul, The FS Earth tiles, FSET, is for the satellite imagery so if the country is covered by Google Earth and or Virtual Earth, the world is your oyster!!!!! Over the last two years I have made all of the UK, Ireland, Tuscany and Umbria here in Italy, Jersey, Malta and some parts of USA too. Once you start with this homemade scenery you will never stop, I can assure you of that. Have a go its a lot easier than you think! Cheers, M

Hi there Eddie, FSET is ONLY used to make the scenery. If you want to create your own airfields and or edit existing FSX airports you can use, as I do, the FREE software Airport Design Editor ADE 165. Hope this helps. Cheers, M

Its very interesting to compare the professionally made ORBX with my amateurish attempt at making photo real scenery with the free software FS Earth Tiles and the satellite images courtesy of Virtual Earth.
