  1. Friday 12th March AFTER ALMOST 2 MONTHS OF CONTINOUS WAITING... THE CDU IS FINALLY ORDERED That's right! It was ordered today from Opencockpits! Should arrive sometime between next Tuesday and Friday! Now, let me just say this - There is a chance that it may not work. This is because the Opencockpits CDU uses a TV-OUT Input from the Graphics Card (which my nVidia GTX285 doesn't have, but can be "achieved" using a mixture of adapters). Now, if this is the case, I'll send it back to Opencockpits for a full refund, excluding shipping (so I loose out
  2. Wednesday 9th March CDU TO BE ORDERED ON FRIDAY - WE'RE FINALLY THERE! Well, it will be ordered on Friday, probably with DHL priority shipping, as I don't want my CDU lying around for 5-10 days with Spanish Standard Shipping (NO I don't think the Spanish are "unreliable", it's just that I want to make sure my CDU is safe!). HOPEFULLY it will work. There is a little bit of uncertainty regarding the Display and hope it'll connect to my PC. Since the CDU is the most expensive of all the Modules, hopefully Avionics from hereon will be purchased quicker! VERY sorry to the massive delay this pro
  3. Another suggestion: Flying's Off A month... With no Aircraft! FSX cars, boats... You name it! They can all be downloaded from AvSim, Flightsim.com, etc
  4. Right. Just had another more promising reply from Nico Kaan (the guru of Opencockpits Hardware). He was worried that converting VGA or DVI to a TV-OUT signal may cause problems, but when I mentioned Opencockpits sold this:
  5. Hmmm... Not sure weather to go for the VRInsight CDU II Panel then. It has a direct support for VGA/DVI so it would work straight off without ANY adapters. There were some problems with the CDU II Panel if I recall in Sept 2009, but these have now been fixed. Also, another advantage is that the CDU II Panel is backlit and have a working EXEC light, and is more "malleable" (ie can work with PMDG/Level-D/757 Captain/PSS/....etc). I give W2F a ring for their 2C, they seem to know alot about stuff like this! Jack
  6. Sorry to dig this up again. Just got the reply from Opencockpits. Basically it was what you guys were saying was correct, but they didn't include a DVI in their PC to CDU setup, as follows: LCD <-> RCA <-> VGA <-> PC However, whenever I mention that my PC gives a DVI, they said that they "didn't know" (as they have only teste the above setup). Also, Mr Nico Kaan (who is VERY experienced with Opencockpits hardware) said that it might not work. He said that a VGA -> RCA -> RCA male/male -> CDU would work... Basically, whenever I mention DVI, everyone becomes a bi
  7. It turns out DC3s cannot tie shoelaces.
  8. Hey Rosario, The only bug I'm aware of at the moment is an issue with the brake temperatures. Sometimes, not always, the brake temperature indicator displays all brakes at a very high temperature. However, SimCheck know about this and it is being fixed, they release a patch about every 1 or 2 weeks. And yes, there is an A/T command. To get A/T command you must arm the switch, then apply a throttle mode (such as SPD SEL, or select a thrust mode using the N1 Computer). Definitely a good aircraft to buy, VERY detailed and complex and a nice challenge.
  9. Okay thanks Mut! I'll confirm with Opencockpits first before I place the order but all looks good at the moment!
  10. Probably 5, 13 or 15!
  11. Right then, I think I've sorted it! So from my GFX Card, I adapt the signal to a VGA output. I then add a VGA -> RCA adapter, then, plug a dual male RCA lead into this adapter. This is then connected directly into the CDU? Thanks for your help Joe & John, it has helped  . Also, doesn't the RCA cable quality effect image performance? Will this suffice? I plan to plug this into the back of my VGA converted GFX Card output:
  12. Thanks very much Joe, glad you enjoyed! And very well noticed with the runway lengths. It IS (just about) realistically possible to get the A300 both in and out of Tamworth and Coffs, just definitely not at MTOW. The weight used in the flight above was about 45% MTOW, so it was possible. You have to use the short takeoff technique which is great. 80% N1, full brakes... Then release and TOGA... 0-V1 in about 15 seconds!
  13. Waaaiiiittt... That S-Video socket is a MALE connector isn't it? (top right).
  14. Just to play it safe, I'll go for the DVI -> VGA. I know it's a "longer" route but it's more safe in terms of compatibility. Thanks Mut, helped me clear up my confusion a tad. Do you think my first route suggestion will work? Jack
  15. What are you on about! The 727 can travel at INCREDIBLY low speeds for a Jet, approaching at just over 90 knots... You can't blame that for its poor handling! Nice shots too, love the wingview one. Can't wait for my leg!
  16. So basically, it would look something like this? CDU (RCA Female) -> RCA Cable (Male/Male) -> RCA (female)/S-Video (female) -> VGA -> DVI -> Graphics Card This is going to look like one MASSIVE cable  .
  17. Don't expect any order or sense to them... A random batch of shots of the A300, from my flights around Tamworth, and some from a flight I did YSTW -> YSCH. I tell you, getting and A300 into Coffs Harbour ISN'T easy! Even with full braking, light load, and reverse thrust! Review will eventually arrive here on Mutley's! Enjoy! Thanks very much for viewing!
  18. Heya everyone, As some of you may know I'm purchasing a functioning hardware unit B747 CDU for my Pedestal. The monitor on it though isn't quite so simple. It uses a TV S-Video monitor, rather than a direct graphics card (VGA/DVI) output. So, my questions is... What cables do I need to get the display on it working? Now don't worry, you don't need to be an expert on FS hardware or anything like that... You just need to help me sort out my monitor troubles! Basically, as far as I know, my nVidia GTX285 gives out a DVI output. So, I thought of getting a DVI to VGA converter, then a VGA to S-
  19. What a landing! the DC-3 just kissed the ground... Literally!
  20. Just a heads up... This vote will end a day AFTER my CDU arrives, at 12:00 Midday. So, if it arrives, lets say, next Monday... The vote will end 12:00 Midday Tuesday. You have until then to vote!
  21. It truly is a great freeware Aircraft! And look Joe! They even included some food for you!
  22. Of course... Watched an ACI epsiode a while back, a 747 crashed on approach to Guam did it not due to poor visibility and lack of ILS?
