LGW - one foggy day with some great traffic!
grth_bbtt replied to grth_bbtt's topic in Real World Aviation
Thanks guys! It sure is Phil the worlds single busiest runway. Though listenining to tower day in day out you certainly see a change in traffic levels throughout the year! Thats o.k Joe :great: I will try to get some pictures, thought the event is nothing huge so dont expect alot! Enjoy your amazingly fun day Joe -
Well, with the recent G20 summit on, a few of the aircraft stayed a further day at the airport. A foggy day did result in a slightly darker video + the I went down at half past 3 :great: For the first time i'm actually going to say some of the video is worth watching. Some interesting clips include an Asiana 747 and a China Airways 747 from the G20 summit. Also of interest is a helicopter, which is suprisingly hard to get at LGW. Even more harder to get is an Easyjet 737, which is a rare aircraft type visiting LGW now! P.S please watch in high quality! For those that don't know how to. Ju

Well done everyone for completing the leg safely-ish (Im looking at Dai mainly ) Small typo Joey boy, last sentance 40-42, I thinking should be 42-50 but lets be honest, even im confused of all these flights going on -

I was wondering whether those with Just flight VFR scenery south east could do a favour for me. Would it be possible to have some screenshots of my town (Crawley, West Sussex). The town is located 4-5 miles south of Gatwick (dont know what it is in nautical miles). This is so I can see whether I could make a possible purchase in the product. Thanks

Some great shots there you have Marcus! Good FPS, and GFX is the main key i reckon for FS, but my systems good for neither aspect

I dont know if John and Joe had/have this problem. The clamps on the CH yoke arnt really built right. By this is mean instead of being clamped to the desk, it moreless just leans against the bottom of the desk. Its hard to explain, but the clamping method I found on the CH was rather poorly suited to my desk. Though after some wood blocks, I think that the yoke will be easily wedged into place.

Superb stuff Phil! I see Manchester are still using the bars to control air traffic. I always thought Gatwick was rather behind in its tech until I visited....some tidy touch screens all round Does bring brack some great memories from work experience. Its quite interesting when there dealing with emergencies and how calm they are. Despite me being with the fire service then the emergency call came through, and dashing out to the aircraft, they still managed to keep their cool! (the fire engines at MAN dont look as impressive as the ones at LGW ) Agreed on the chance to go to a ATC tower Phi

Cracking shots!, the overall report should be a good read I once visited the factory at Filton and the Alpha Foxtrot Concorde on display. TBH the Airbus Factory isnt really that exciting as all they create at the Filton factory are the wing ribs.
