Well, I switched to downloaded weather, and immediately the plane was tossing around like a good 'un. and way to much in my opinion (well over 70 degrees angle of bank at times). Not sure if there's a way to tone it down, but it reminded me of the way the FSX DC3 used to buck around before the service pack...

Well done on missing the hospital tea! -
By the power of Greyskull Skype, I've finally got X-Plane to a state where it's mostly controllable (although there are still some control glitches). Anyhow, a quick trip, EGBB to EGTN: We're approximately over Wellesbourne, heading South. In the distance you can see Long Crendon and the Cotswold hills Looking down at Wellsbourne Approaching EGTN.The road is the A44, somewhat busier than usual, and the traffic is all travelling on the wrong side of the road! I've highlighted the runway with an arrow. Actually the dark streak is North Side Grass; the tarmac runway is much harder to ma

I was talking about these pictures of the Skycatcher on the podcast, and I realised I hadn't posted them. Ho hum! Anyhow, here they are. So, in this trip we're starting out from Koromiko (this is the airfield that we passed last time on the way to Picton). We'll take a trip out over the sounds (familiar territory), past Clova bay where we landed last time, aug to Port Hardy, then back to the mainland, through the valleys to the town of Havelock and finally to a short hillside strip called Long Valley Strip. It's the valley that's long, not the strip. Anyway, here we go...

Not really 'programs' as such, but if you have two identical USB throttle quadrants (as I do, for twin engine ops), only one of them can be configured through the UI. The other can only be set up by directly editing the controls.ini They say this is a known issue that will be fixed in 1.3.

Air Hauler in Win7 minimising and not opening - solution
Tim_A replied to UKJim's topic in Air Hauler
Here's a tip: always look for the back-haul. An empty flight does nothing but cost money. Even if the back haul is low paying, the reputation will make it worthwhile. Also look for A-B-C-A triangles, particularly if the b-c distance is small, since they can get you extra cash and rep at little extra cost or time. -

Excellent news, and good luck with the new job... whatever it is! Now, stop chasing those nurses! -
The AAIB will be thorough. They are very good at what they do, and second to none, including the NTSB. Baron or Boeing, the only difference is the space it takes up in the hangar. (I've been to their facility in Farnborough, and seen it first hand) The report will no doubt be published in due course on their site www.aaib.gov.uk

Very sad. One of the dead has been named as Bob Jones, owner of Welshpool airport http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-mid-wales-16619697

I have FSX running. That's all I really care about at this point.

No Joy on the UIAutomationCore, or the various repairs, reboots, registry scrubs etc. Eventually got it working by doing a system restore. Had to go back 4 restore points though -- about a week, which was well before it stopped working. Amazingly X-Plane 10 still works, and that was installed after this restore point! Anyhow, thanks for the suggestions chaps.

As soon as FSX loads now, it crashes with this error: "This feature rquires that {smartassembly} is available on this computer." Bu**er Any ideas?
-
Yes, Simconnect connects with no problems.
-
Yes Plan-G works fine with P3D. You can build a database too with a little effort, but to be honest, if you already have an FSX db built, I see no advantage - the base data is no newer than FSX.
-
Ok... to build a P3D database you need a 'dead file' copy of fsx.exe in your main P3D folder. Then set up the file paths as follows: FSX Program: E:\Prepar3D (or wherever) FSX Scenery.cfg: C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D And it builds fine. Far as I can see the base data is the same as FSX (looking at Bristol's airspace as guidance, since that has changed greatly over the last few years)...

So if I go to the Bahamas or Florida Keys and overshoot the runway, will I sink?

Our next flight took us further south, to Patriot Hills in the Heritage Range of the Ellsworth Mountains. Until recently, Patriot Hills was the only private seasonally-operated camp in Antarctica. The camp has moved now to Union Glacier (which we'll see next time), although Patriot Hills still acts as a backup and emergency runway.. Postcard: Supplies are stored in tunnels dug into the ice.

I've moaned for a long time about the way you just pass through things in FS - it ought to have some sort of improved physics engine whereby objects behave like objects. And it's not just about crashing into things or having the plane break up, but simple little practicalities like chocking the wheels so the plane doesn't roll down a hill (there were several times in my exploration of NZ that I'd land on some rough undulating strip, go off to do something else and when I got back... well, the plane wasn't where I left it!) Strangely I think that Aerofly FS has a better appeal towards Flight's

Have you tried Plan-G? I imagine you can use the same dead-file technique to set up the directories..

Well, XPX is £60. I don't think the market will take a *lot* more...
