Carenado announce new project - CT182T Skylane FSX
Tim_A replied to UKJim's topic in Members General & Announcements
Yes, but I do wish they'd get out of their Yet Another Cessna With Very Slight Differences From The Last One And Never Mind That Someone Else Has Just Released It rut. There are so many interesting aeroplanes that have never been done, that it really annoys me when a whole bunch of developers all do the exact same plane. Again. -
Bigger!

John, you can see pics of it in all its glory if you go to the scenery page on my site. It was made a couple of years ago by Ian Melville and myself, both RW pilots flying out of Enstone. We spent several months with cameras, GPSs and measuring tape, poking around everywhere we could (even got chased off by security guards a couple of times!). It's history is that it was one of the WWII "quick build" airfields constructed in 1942 as a training unit for Wellington bomber pilots. It has three runways in the standard RAF A-Frame configuration, although only one is still usable, but the other two

Today we're heading North up the West coaxt, to Karamea. But first a quick visit to Cape Foulwind… We're back in the 182 today. Lift off. You can see where we'll be going later. but first, a 180 takes us downwind The cement works is clearly marked on aviation charts. You can see the little strip we're visiting ahead of us. Cape Foulwind. Named by Captain Cook, after his ship, the Endeavour was blown out to sea. There is a large seal colony resident here. The airstrip features this impressive-looking JCB! Now we're heading North towards Karamea. Postcard:

I was about 10 minutes early getting to the airport -- not surprising since my test time was much faster -- so I did a flyby and circuit (hence pic 5). Now I misjudged that manoeuvre last year and ended up over a minute late, but I think I got it in pretty close this time.

I'd better fly it then. Will try to do it today...

Consider leasing the plane - it's much cheaper and you have the option to buy out the lease later if you want to.

Well, we had a nice little break, so let's get back into the gorge... Some postcards:

Does swimming back to shore count in your leg time?

Hehe, wait till part 2 - I get pretty close to 90 degrees in some of the turns - which is something in a Skycatcher!

Buller Gorge Today we're heading out to the west coast. We're starting at Murchison, and we'll finish up at Westport. Now, we can either take the direct route and go 'over the top', or we can go down the gorge. I'll let you figure out which we do... We're going to take a short break halfway down the gorge, at Reefton, for a cuppa and change of underthings. Look out for part two, very soon, but meanwhile here are a few postcards...

Thanks Ted - please see your PMs

If you have X-Plane 9 or 10, and a collection of flight plans in FMS format, I'd be interested to hear from you. I'm looking for as many FMS files as I can get hold of, for testing purposes in the new version of Plan-G. If you'd like to send me some plans, or even be involved in testing PG3 with X-Plane, please send me a message. Thanks

You should be aware that the wind at altitude will not be the same as the wind on the ground (FSX random changes notwithstanding). Plan-G will give you METAR and TAF for an airport when you right click on it.

Big Sugar Jackson. Hmm....
-
Have you tried the Smoke on/off key? ("I", I think)
-
No. It does not do VFR.
-
Oh dear, I suppose I'd better get my act together then... and, yes please for the livery

Tails.
