Plans to change order of topic posts
Tim_A replied to mutley's topic in Mutley's Hangar News and Announcements
What we need is a "first unread post" button/link at the top of the thread (a lot of fora have that, and it works well). The current order (oldest at top) is best though, since it's the natural way of reading things. -
I had a tax rebate owing to me from 2006, which I'd forgotten about. HMRC just sent me a cheque out of the blue (they'd obviously been doing some book keeping) for the full amount plus interest. It was a nice surprise and paid for my new iPad

I think we need to redesign the shirt to say flight crew...

To quote (completely out of context) a book I read recently: You really can go from hero to zero in just a matter of seconds! -
RW, leaning the mixture on the ground often is a good thing. At high density altitudes, it's necessary just to develop sufficient power for take off ( or the engine could even suffer a rich cut). Even at low altitudes, leaning on the ground will prevent detonation and plug fouling. ( been there, done that)

That's 5 more than me! LOL I see your landings are still up to scratch:

You forgot to mention Dai, that all this needs to be done from a cavern in the middle of a volcano. preferably active (although a lava lamp in the background can be used as a substitute)

Wotcher! Nice to know RW is keeping up with the sim.... Are you trying to tell us something?

I've been to that Maccy D's too -- Taupo, yes?

That is an understatement. 'Dire' might be a better word. Your best bet for night lighting is to install UTX/E - the 3D lights will sit over the landscape very nicely.

There was muttering on the CIX forum about the length of the legs, so I've suggested they field a joint team, like we do here...

From The Grauniad EyeWitness this week: A Douglas DC-3 is one of a number of old warplanes to have been given a makeover by graffiti artists as part of the Boneyard project at the Pima Air and Space Museum You can see the original article here: http://www.guardian....e?CMP=twt_ipd#_ and the free EyeWitness app can be found in the app store, or see http://www.guardian....ipad/eyewitness

While on the subject, you might be interested in the Good Aviation Practice ('GAP') booklets published by the NZ CAA in pdf format. As well as covering general topics, such as fuel planning, spin avoidance, winter flying etc, they also cover the peculiarities of NZ airspace, and in depth guides to flying in particular regions -- Mount Cook, Queenstown, Milford etc. Excellent resources. http://www.caa.govt.nz/safety_info/good_aviation_practice.htm

Do you have your FSX settings reduced compared to FS9? Certainly none of the planes I own look better in FS9.

It's dead easy - in Disk Management, change the drive letter for your new drive, but instead of giving it a new letter, browse to a folder location. Note: The folder you assign it to MUST be empty. Here's a tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11253-mount-drives-partitions-folder.html

Mutley's Hangar, 2012, a great place to be?
Tim_A replied to mutley's topic in Mutley's Hangar News and Announcements
I think I found the forum after being directed to the reviews page from another site... probably Orbx. -
I've been very selective for the last year or more, mainly for financial reasons. FSX has its own 1TB drive, so space isn't an issue (FS9, XPX and Flight share another 1TB drive). I would never put FS-anything on an OS-drive (well, except for my development laptop, but that's only for testing purposes, not serious simming) If you're thinking about another drive for FSX, don't forget that under NTFS, you can mount a hard drive inside a folder on another drive, so you can copy your FSX install onto another drive and still have it in the same place as far as the OS is concerned. Means no pullin
