ddavid 149
Apologies for not getting back to this earlier - the L.A. Scenery Review got in the way... Anyway, here's the next Airport Clue: Cheers - Dai.
hurricanemk1c 195
My intial thoughts were of Boeing Field, but the buildings at the end aren't right, neither is the main runway lenght....
allardjd 1,853
Stock FSX scenery, Dai? John
brett 2,316
Zamperini-Torrance KTOA is my guess since your playground is around LA lately. Just about 10 miles away from the Intl airport.
ddavid 149
Not stock FSX - how did you guess?!? Cheers - Dai.
brett 2,316
I didn't see a clue, so took your first sentence as a clue on the off chance. Looked around LAX for two runway type airports airports, then checked them out in fsx. Even the default airport had that large section of buildings set at an angle as in your image. Got lucky. I'll work something up tomorrow for you guys.
ddavid 149
Well Done, Brett! BTW, Robinson Helicopters have their manufacturing base at Torrance, the aircraft was a clue, too.
brett 2,316
Good clue Dai, but the luck had it. I'm going to be nice and give you guys an easy one. This next airport features a pilot that is a bit of a night owl but will always return home after a night of carousing. Good luck and good skill
brett 2,316
hmmm...the AC is also a clue. Whoops to easy?
brett 2,316
More hints anyone? Magnetic Variation: 7E (Year 2000) Rest assured that the mosquito population is lower it this area.
ddavid 149
Somewhere in the boondocks - down Mexico way... 3 runways should give it away - nearest I've got is XS87. Still looking... Cheers - Dai.
brett 2,316
Well Dai, as long as you mention it....I do believe that Mexico used to own this area but lost the land some time ago according to my history books, making their country much smaller.
brett 2,316
Seems I might have to narrow it down some more. 1. The state where this airport is located is the second most populous place in the United States of America. 2. Ka-Powwww, holy fist-a-cuffs.
mutley 4,498
Brett apologies from me, busy with forum admin as ever, I will shoot a guess in next week if it's not gone
brett 2,316
No problem Joe and no need to apologize. I'm sure wearing your various hats keeps you very busy and it is hard to keep your head above the guano.
brett 2,316
If you decide to explore a certain point of interest nearby, I would suggest bringing a raincoat, flashlight, hat and rubber boots. Rain would not be my chief concern. First runway info: 06/
brett 2,316
No takers.....It's in the Lone Star state. Holy bad hints Batman, can't Brett do any better than this. Let's go home.
mutley 4,498
Holy GTA clue Brett! Is it TS55 Bat Cave Field? I'll have Alfred get us some tea! Sorry for a late reply, this reminds me of my favourite Batman sayings- "It's sometimes difficult to think clearly when you're strapped to a printing press." Priceless! EDIT: I have just found a better one. Joker - "Never rub another man's rhubarb." I dread to think what he was on about!
brett 2,316
Way to go Boss man, ya got it. Good job. Isn't funny how when you read back on all the clues,(one was in another thread) once you know the answer, you wonder how you didn't get it earlier. Although it was an airport off the beaten path there were many clues given. Another clue was given in my conversation with Joe at the top of this page. Head slap!! For those of you who like a nice STOL aircraft I highly recommend the Aeroprakt A-22 Foxbat with 3D gauges and best of all it's freeware. I even put the aircraft in this months screenshot contest which I don't normally enter. Over to you Oh Clever One......
stu7708 244
Nice one Brett... Was pulling my hair out yesterday trying to find batman related airfileds in Texas over on Wikipedia... but sadly Bat Cave Field wasn't in their list of Airports in Texas... The closest I got was Bruce Field (E30) but that one only had one runway, and was to far north considering the 29N mark in the shot....
mutley 4,498
Here's the next one for anyone who wants to trawl through John's airport plates! I don't think this one will be too difficult?
mutley 4,498
A famous aircraft manufacturer was founded on a site right next to the airfield This is an international airport with well over 2.5M passenger movements a year (They must have very good latrines!) Don't take up as being north.
allardjd 1,853
Well, it's not Southampton. John
mutley 4,498
John, you are correct!! ... it is not Southampton
hurricanemk1c 195
Looks like Bremen EDDW to me. 2.56million passengers last year, Junkers and Focke-Wulf were around there and RWY's 09/27. You see, the History project on a local famous person worked!
