  1. My first ever flightsim show, and I loved every minute of it! I arrived a bit earlier than expected, and I was at the entrance to Hangar 1 by 9:30 AM. There was another person in the foyer between the two sets of automatic doors, and very soon we were deep in conversation about various aspects of flight simulation. Several others arrived at the entrance soon after that, and I started talking to one of these new guys aswell. It was really interesting to hear what other flightsim enthusiasts had to say about the subject, and this was in fact one of the highlights of the show for me. Nobody i

  4. Airfix creators of models since 1939 and Revell (1945) have today announced that as scale model sales are on the slide they intend to enter the airliner business. A spokesman from the companies said that they had unparalleled experience in the manufacture of plastic aircraft in house, and that they were scaling up ther operation unlike Boeing who only had a few years experience and who still needs to get parts made all around the world. Having Visited the Boeing plant on several occasions one airfix employee was heard to comment that they were already well ahead with the project and that join

  6. I don't recall which airport this is, but I the Pit Stop is very handy. Plenty of room to park the P-40 while I grab a coffee and a donut! If there were a gas pump out front I could do my Capt Wild Bill Kelso impersonation and tell them to "Fill 'er up! Ethyl!"

  8. Avros mighty Shackleton in AEW, Anti-Sub and Maritime patrol roles. The AEW and MR2s are FS9 models, the MR3 is FSX. All freeware. Note the aircraft depicting a Shack approaching a carrier is based on a real life incident which my father-in law was involved in. It was during an excercise in the Mediteranean in the early 60s. A Shack out on patrol contacted an American Carrier and asked if they could land on to refuel. They didn't state what aircraft they were and the Yanks never asked. So when a shortwhile later a dirty great bomber dropped out of the clouds on finals it shook the Americans up

  10. Hi Dai, nice seeing you again, glad you made it. You didn't miss James or Rob as they never showed unfortunately. Rob is unwell at the moment and James must have had his reasons for being able to make it. A shame as it was a great show. Cheers Sorry folks that I missed the show. I was disappointed that I was not able to attend due to some very bad weather conditions and by the time it had cleared it was too late to attend. Never mind I will travel the night before next year and look for the same hotel as Joe (to play him up)

  12. Great shots Alan! My grandfather worked on the coast guns at Gibraltar and had a trip up in a Shack. Even had a go. Problem was, when turning, no-one told him to use the rudder......

  13. Here we go again, and with a photo which is deliberately not the best quality. Alan, I might muzzle you for a few days. J.G., yes it's military. Cheers Andrew

  14. Yep...that is exactly what I was doing...flying in external view with my finger half pressing the V key down...and missing the bolt on 19 out of 20 presses. Haha...so frustrating thinking bout all those super bright multi-forkers that zapped by on the left, right and straight ahead...but I got the oddball weird low and horizontal bolt out of all those...heh. I even tried the Replay function after a particularly good bolt, but could never get it to pause RIGHT On the bolt, nor could I catch it while the replay was running. I tried that over and over for about 1/2 hour before giving up and goin

  15. Matt, to catch lightning keep your finger on the V key. You might have to spend an hour or so deleting misses but you're bound to get one bolt. Good luck all.

  17. I just wanted to mention (in the proper topic discussion thread this time )... HOLY CRAP it is as HARD to catch a lightning bolt in FSX as it is with a single shot camera in RL LOL. I stabbed and double stabbed the V key at 20 amazing lightning bolts crashing all around that Beaver before I finally got ONE to actually show up in the screen shot...definitely not the best I saw. A very challenging contest...woot!

  22. Apologies guys for taking so long to post my setup. Here is what I am using at the moment. From the rear. I am using a recycled seat from a SAAB. Kindly donated by Jess. Many thanks. I built the base of my seat out of 3/4" mdf and used my router to give more depth to the sides. I had to build the notched handles on each side, to use for reclining the seat, as it was originally an electrically operated seat. I then put a drawer in the back, which houses most of my flight sim dvds. The seat is fully moveable from back to front and it runs on two heavy duty ball bearing drawer runners.
