Is this what we pay our money for? debate
GHAO replied to britfrog's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
There's a lot of pressure, especially form companies that still have shareholders. Some companies (I can't remember who) say they don't have release dates - the product is ready when it's ready, and never before. I think that is the way it should be. In the real world when the first gigantic jet engines came through they packed so much thrust in that McDonnel and other companies told customers to let the engines 'settle in'. I don't know for sure, but I would bet that a second-hand aircraft with engines that aren't going to blow up is a lot more desirable than a brand-new jet from the factory -
ORBX Milford Sound and some NZSI Video... with happy ending!

That's astounding eye-candy - what FPS do you get flying through there with your system? -
If everyone in China blows hard enough, it'll take-off!

Even after Michael Caine has been at it, the bloody doors are still firmly attached.

World trembles in confusion and/or fear at Iran’s fiberglass airplane
GHAO replied to mutley's topic in Real World Aviation
Iran simply don't have the money to make anything decent... it looks much like *insert American fighter jet name here*, but one that's been a little squashed in the mail. -

Amazing shots! -
Apart from an AMD (but I've got one and my 1090T is surprisingly good), there's not much else I see wrong, but don't quote me on that!

Oh no! Hope you fix what sounds like everything, Ros! Sorry for not specifying which jumbo it was under - but we can't have Joe Bloggs running off with it! Beautiful plane, I recognise it from pictures of the civilian version. but the name escapes me... but my hat goes off to you having the bravery to even think about flying that plane in Alaska!

Thanks Glen - of course it is! My bad, people
-
I was thinking that myself, Joe - it took three hours to upload all that onto Photobucket! Thanks for the kind words, I look forward to my next one... hopefully somewhere warmer! @Andrew - sorry, just re-read your reply - it's Traffic X by Justflight. It's very good although some of the planes are of lower quality than default MS ones. Plus, the parking is atrocious! Found three jumbos with intersecting wings

All was freeware - it'll take a bit of time to find the exact link, but the planes came from fs-freeware.com, and the scenery for Unalakleet was from here: http://www.freewarescenery.com/fsx.html, and click on Alaska. The Vampire and HS748 are probably the best freeware planes I've come across. Thanks for the comments!

A seventeen-year-old walks out of Sleep Inn in Unalakleet, AL, clutching a large and firmly padlocked briefcase. I've been out here for a month now, perfecting landings and picking my route, and now with the sacred baton in my hands I feel nervous for the first time. There's not many options of aircraft that I can fly, but the DC3 I've been practising in is free, so I'm taking dog sled parts from Unalakleet to a little town down the Yukon River. Graylings (KGX) is a piddly airport serving 196 people, but it features as an important checkpoint on the Itidarod Dog Sled Race, and one of the com

If I'd have deadlegged with you, I could've got off at Anchorage! Still, I've hopefully got a cracking flight ahead of me. I'll meet you at the Sleep Inn's restaurant on Tuesday morning, Andrew, if you can hang around a few days?

I wonder if on different aircraft with differently-angled emplannages the stripe-line will still follow the fin angle? Looks good on this AC at least.

If he did have any control once he'd hit the crane, he did a great job avoiding a busy train station (which an approaching train), and all the buildings. To hit a road in a helicopter in central London and only kill one person on the ground - well done to him. Has anyone wondered if he had lost control of the heli (something went wrong, perhaps), then hit the crane when he was already crashing? Interesting fact the papers made on this - Sau Paulo has 200 heliports, and London has 1. Maybe more would give better diversion options.

Automated FSX.cfg tweaks

Thanks Joe! -
Cracking job - but something seems funny about having a desert in the middle of Alaska..! The weather in Unalakleet seems reasonable at the moment, so Andrew'll be quick I hope!

I set it to 30, framerate plummets back to 20! Also, your link appears to be a little incompatible with Venetubo's guide (he recommends not using both) - plus, his changes the file it for me I'll stick with what I've got, although I just fear having it on Unlimited will start to annoy my precious computer! -

Hi all, Managed to jump from 15-25 to 35-60! However, I don't want it that high, 30 is good for me! Anyone know of and willing to give detailed instructions on how to use an external FPS limiter? -
I look forward to your pics. I'd better remember my coat.

Don't worry, your delay has meant I can now fly over the weekend Busy doing flights round Unalakleet in the DC3 (and others, you'll see), practicing my landings and route. Getting quite nervous about my first ATWC. Knowing me I'll forget to take any screenshots! I'm surprised you didn't use a B737 or equivalent, Mikael - three minutes and you'd be above the weather, cruising at high speed. Then again, that's no fun, is it WHITEOUT!

Mutley's Hangar End of Year Awards: Results!
GHAO replied to rob16584's topic in Mutley's Hangar News and Announcements
Well, I think it's nearly 8GB! It's not too bad to run, although there appears to be a mind-boggling choice, and frankly I overuse the 'random' buttons scattered throughout! I'm certainly eyeing up anything that appears on this list.
