Back to base - Kodiak PADQ - Homer PAHO I had to wait 24 hrs in Kodiak to have a return freight instead of flying back empty. 10:10 local, waiting for entrance on runway 25 in use. In Kodiak this runway faces the mountains, which implies to make a turn right after take off. I leave Kodiak with some sun and broken clouds at 3000 ft. I stabilize at 2500 ft, Otto takes over and to have some conversation I ask Anchorage control for a flight following. Once entered squawk 7663 I can confirm the radar contact and relax. North of the island, I come across a cruise ship heading for K

Nice flight, not sure if you will have a good night in there...

Have not hauled in NZ yet but Matt did. In my AH ORBX regions ( PNW, PFJ + Tongass fjords, CRM, SAK ) I never had a problem so far since Nov 2013 I'm flying there even on many small RTMM strips.

I am back to Homer PAHO. Freya Floyd has made a stop over the weekend there with her BN2 Islander. I send her on a mission with the Cessna 207 while I borrow her plane to deliver two jobs in one flight on the Kodiak Island. Weather is fine at start : wind 6 knots from ENE, 7° C on the ground, a good visibility and a 10.000 ft ceiling. I know it should be worse on arrival, but there are navaids ( VOR and NDB ), I have a GPS on board and there is an ILS at Kodiak PADQ. On top of this the Islander is the right plane to fly when things ain't easy ! Stop at runway 4 entrance, waiting for a p

Utility also available today : Locator for Henrik Nielsen's Global AI ship traffic V1 This is a program that can help you find the many vessels in Henrik Nielsen's wonderful "Global A.I. Ship Traffic". It covers the latest download, Version 1 and all of the previous programs and updates. It displays the routes on Google Earth, the route number and a list of the ships that can be found on that route. There is a separate file containing their departure and arrival times on each of the routes, with instructions on how you can locate them. There is also a full list of the names and types o -

Henrik Nielsen (KL791) has released the totality of his AI Ship Traffic in one file. This package contains more than 600 AI ships and AI ship traffic routes for the entire globe for P3D and FSX. It is a stand-alone package comprising all my AI ship packages and fixes released until April 2016 including 86 new models released in 2016. The package includes cruise ships, ferries, container ships, oil tankers, bulk carriers, tall ships, fishing boats, destroyers, frigates, patrol boats, icebreakers and more. Many of the ships have helicopter platforms. You can land on all ships with an H pain -
Gone to check how things are going in Yakutat PAYA. I grab the C 185 Amphib to carry 856 lbs of urgent mail to Elfin Cove ELV for some 7500 $. Spring is here, snow and ice are disappearing. Even the big heap of snow on the parking is getting smaller every day. Weather is OK with a good visibility, a gentle 8 knots eastern wind and 7° C. There are some clouds at 1200 ft, but the flight will be entirely above the sea so I can fly low. Everywhere in the marshes around Yakutat the ice is now gone. Colors are back after the all white of the past months. And here we go

Still based in Homer PAHO. Today I will carry 626 lbs of DVD players to Goose Bay Z40, a 925m gravel airfield north of Anchorage on the right shore of the Knick River. I will use the C 185 Tundra. Getting ready. Weather is still friendly : 7° C, scattered clouds at 5000 ft, overcast at 6000 ft and a 5 knots southwest wind Take off around 11:30 local, turning to the north and climbing. Stabilized at 3500 ft, and requesting flight control to Anchorage Approach as there is a lot of traffic in the area. After 25 minutes, I fly by Kenai Municipal airport, on the way t

Today we move 1334 lbs of memory sticks from Homer PAHO to Seward PAWD with the Cessna 207 Bush for 13.340 $. Weather in Homer is OK, visibility is average with 8.5 nm, temperature on ground is 7°C, wind east 10 knots, pressure 29.53 in. We have a few clouds at 5000 ft, scattered at 6000 ft and broken at 10.000 ft. It will be enough ceiling to fly across the southern Kenai peninsula. Waiting for take off on runway 4. Take off and turning south, climbing to 4500 ft. Crossing the Kachemak Bay, still climbing. Following the Tutka Bay, aiming to cross over the mo

Nice trip to this special place ! I still remember landing there with the D17 Staggerwing at the end of my Aeropostale adventure, after flying over part of the Titicaca lake. -
Nice pics, specially n° 1. The Skymaster is a plane I also love flying.

You're welcome ! It was a great idea. Weather was OK as the flight was entirely above water so I could fly low. And with the amphib' you feel safe as you can touch down anywhere if things get tricky ! ( Always have a 24h survival kit on board ! ) In these regions you can't wait for perfect conditions and it's a good part of the fun in the job ! Now waiting in Sitka for a couple of days due to Champions League and Europa League soccer evenings ( 3 british clubs playing tonight Tottenham vs Dortmund and Manchester United vs Liverpool, after a fantastic Bayern München vs Juventus Torino

Interesting news ! -
Decided to give a hand to Matt in his " Air Hauler section revival " Today I took the C185 Amphib' from the last stop in Point Baker KPB to Klawock PAKW. There was a load of 957 lbs of DVDs to pick up and fly back to our base in Sitka PASI for a 116 nm flight. Take off under the rain from PAKW shortly before 12:00 local. Weather is calling for light rain, temperature 5° C, wind 10 knots at 220°, visibility 19 km, with broken clouds at 2000 ft and overcast at 3000 ft. The rain stops briefly at half way as I fly among oil rigs and tankers. And comes b

Great flight report ! It confirms I need to start another AH company in NZ as I have the scenery and plane repaints installed and ready. Just need to find some free time !

It's getting greener around Sitka Delivery in Point Baker KPB Left the plane and took a fast boat to visit the nearby sawmill in Labouchere Bay And of course a stop for lunch at the local Brad's BBQ !

Good to be back for a warm coffee !

These days in Homer PAHO mostly calm weather with light winds, day temperatures around 4° C and clouds around 5000 to 6500 ft. Perfect for some deliveries ! Having more problems with my southern area around Vancouver where we had either too much wind or bad visibility conditions with fog, rain and low ceilings often delaying operations or inducing IFR flights.
