  1. I must agree with the engine noise of the Islander, usually adjust the engine sound level around 20 % when I fly them ! Never had this whine problem you mention though. As I explained ealier I had many flights in these as a passenger end of the seventies between France and the Channel Islands. I was happy these were short flights, at the time I could not adjust the sound level...
  2. When I was flying World War 1 online Rise of Flight, many of our "top guns" were in love with them !
  3. Nice shots in a nice part of the world ! The plane looks good too, but I have enough twins in the fleet for now and I will keep trusting my Islanders for trucking around short dirt tracks.
  4. A nice leg ! Bet they don't see Typhoons very often in La Rochelle ... I see your flight path took you over the Chef de Baie industrial zone where I worked for 6 years in the 80s and over the south of Nieul sur Mer where I lived. (Almost over my garden !) I left in 1987 when they where starting to build the bridge to the Ré Island (which is therefore no more an island...). You can see this bridge on the left of your close up flight plan.
  5. Totally agree with the statement about smoothness, as I am using a Track IR it is the most important. In fact I almost never look at my FPS. I know they are between 20 and 30, but as long as it's fluid I don't really mind !
  6. The best tool I know of is about adjusting the graphic options and sliders to your computer performance ! And it's free !
  7. Nice and fun little plane, I used it once during my last winter Down Under tour. In fact it all started with a video of a real flight of Corby Starlets around the place where I was (virtually) and I looked for the plane in FSX addons. For the canopy, if I remember, you need to grab a handle with the mouse inside the cockpit and slide it backwards.
  8. Bowerman KHQM to Eastsound KORS Today I fly from my southerly base in Washington state, to carry around 1500 lbs of computers to Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. It is one of the very few times I had a good visibility and a fair weather there since I opened this base last September. It is around 12 o'clock when I climb in the Cessna C208b Caravan for a check list and warm up. Take off over the ocean from runway 24, then I make a wide right turn to heading 46° towards intersection point CARRO. As my flight plan goes ar
  9. Today's flight will take us for an urgent delivery from Sitka PASI to Atlin CYSQ, near the border between BC and Yukon. The plan is to cross Baranhof Island eastwards through my usual high valley at 4000 ft, fly through the Stephens Passage and then up the Taku River, flying along the glacier to end up over Atlin Lake. As I will fly by Juneau, I will have a safety option if needed. The weather forecast at destination is fine ( good visibility, wind west 8 knts, a few clouds ). Leaving Sitka PASI flying the Cessna 337 Skymaster, with broken clouds aroun
  10. Everything working fine and good looking. Thks for the good work !
  11. Nice pics ! This airfield is on my next list ( with Friday Island )
  12. You can use Steam offline, that's what I'm doing most of the time for all my Steam games . I only connect to Steam for checking updates or looking for mods in the Workshop once a week or so.
  13. I have the C 404 which is also a nice plane. I like Cessnas , and this one was made in France by Reims Aviation, so I couldn't resist... as usual quite some lag on the turbines ( they are PT6As ), better think in advance !
  14. Canadian Rocky Mountains - Salmon Arm CZAM to Methow Valley State S52 After spending some time in Homer, Alaska,, I've taken a couple of commercial flights to go have a look at our new base in Salmon Arm CZAM, BC, in the Rockies. I'll take the opportunity to make a delivery with our last aiplane I have leased since a couple of months, a Cessna F406 Caravan II. The flight will take us across the US border, to the Methrow Valley State Airport S52, near Winthrop. The 406 looks very much like the 404 Titan, the main difference is in the engines. The two turboprops boost the cruise spe
  15. They are very different and work together. Ground Environment replaces the original FSX textures, Ultimate Terrain puts terrain tiles, rivers, roads, railways, bridges, coastlines, etc... in the right place ( and adds night lighting ). Although I still use them for a good part of the world where I don't fly often, they have been largely replaced today by Orbx Global scenery and vectors ( I use full region packs from Orbx ).
  16. Wayne, for info : I always fly in " simili fullscreen " using FSX Borderless (freeware) in windowed mode. This way it looks like full screen but I can have other windows open. I use the automatic masking function in the properties for the task bar. I found this solution because I needed other windows on both of my monitors, but seeing the windows frame on my main screen is for me a total immersion killer !
  17. Nice tour and great pics ! I really have to open my next company there, it's been on my HD since Xmas sales now. PS : What kind of load do you carry around with this Pilatus ? I might be tempted to add it to the fleet for its speed and STOL capabilities.
  18. It's in FSX (wherever this is installed on your PC) \ ORBX \ scripts and should be called FTXLights_Nights.exe and FTXLights_Day.exe
  19. Pictures of the "Bonhomme Richard" and "Titanic" ! Someone is doing some "Back to the future" flying... For the "Bonhomme Richard" it should be a painting ( sank in 1779 after the famous naval battle with HMS "Serapis" ) and for the "Titanic" the pictures should be black and white...
  20. I also have ships I can drive around :
  21. A few ships : Cdt Cousteau's " Calypso " at Cape Horn :
