New South Wales - Day 8 Today we leave Bourke YBKE and keep on flying north to Lightning Ridge YLRD with an overfly of Goodooga YGDA. As I take off from Bourke, there is a 13 knots south wind, a great visibility, and the few clouds are high in the sky around 10.000 ft. I'm flying again over a flat land at 3500 ft, the autopilot is doing the job, I just have to look at the landscape around and watch the needles. After some 40 minutes, I fly over the airfield and the village of Goodooga. As I close on Lightning Ridge, I can see several dried out l

Just to let you know you're not alone... -
New South Wales - Day 7 From Cobar we will fly north to Bourke (airport YBKE). As I leave Cobar, both weather and mood are great ! Flying at 3500 ft, the agricultural landscape is slowly replaced by bigger forest patches. As I close on the Gundabooka national park south of Bourke, I can see in the far the heights of Little Mountain. I decide to get a bit out of my direct path to have a look at it. Fifteen minutes later I am on finals at YBKE. A cool short flight over the usual landscape except for the Little Mountain. "The back o

I could maybe share some important news I see on my french forums if they are not here already. Important update of Scenery Config to version 1.4 - you can now create groups which stick - even if they disappear when modifying Orbx sceneries, you need only to click restore to bring them back - ideal for people who have large groups of sceneries to manage. http://sourceforge.net/projects/fs-sceditor/ -
A nice night flight, I love sipping a cuppa Joe under the moonlight while the autopilot does the job... Welcome in France by the way...

Glad to see you're already using it. Nice pics ! I have one in my AH fleet in Alaska/BC. It is only flown by the boss himself to boost reputation from time to time as it can carry only around 1000 lbs.

Hi and welcome ! Also retired since a bit over a year now, been accumulating flying hours since then (and talking about it on the forum) Addon planes offer about anything you want, depends what your interest is ( and the money you're ready to spend, start by the good freeware to try ! ) I don't have many payware planes but good ones as I prefer to fly many hours in the same planes to "feel at home". For the airports I only use freeware, there are tons of good ones ( for 10 mns spent there to taxi and take off, I prefer using the money of payware airports for general scenery like regional

Good ! I love this plane... You can find several nice repaints at OzX.

Yesterday was release day, spent a good part of my night on the Tutorial campaign beating other humans and running around an Orc team. Got my arse handed to me by an High Elves team, will have my revenge today... I used to play in the 90s Napoleonic battles 15mm and WWII with 1/300th figurines I had spent days painting with a one-hair brush.

I'm using the Carenado Skymaster, it sure works in both. I didn't see the mine in Cobar (didn't look for it in fact ) , but there are many mines added by OzX in Western Australia.

New South Wales - Day 6 After spending the weekend at my regional base making plans for the future, it's time to fly again. We'll go now through the northwest quarter and we start by a flight to the mining city of Cobar. After a first round trip in the semi old way (no autopilot but a GPS on the Cessna 177 RG ), I've decided to take it easy for the second. I chose my Cessna 337 Skymaster "Softness of Australia" which will allow me some lazyness with a GPS, a HDG/NAV autopilot and altitude holder. Taking off from Condobolin this morning, the sky is clear, visibility i

Must be for some express deliveries...

Nice pics with a plane I specially appreciate. Will try not to miss it during my Aussie tour !

I find the 177 easy to fly and the fact you have no struts and a high wing gives you a good all round view on the landscape. There is no AP, so you're busy through the whole flight. As you can see the landscape is mostly flat, agriculture and some forests and lakes, not many settlements. That's why it's called the outback, I guess... In fact, like in real life, I quite like empty places !

New South Wales - Day 5 Today we finish this first round and we get back to our regional base. We'll take the opportunity to fly over lake Cargelligo which will also be used as security airfield. No reason to stay long in Ivanhoe, I take off at 10:30 local. The wind is still blowing from the west at 16 knots, so I will use the dirt 27 runway again. I will have to turn around to the East after take off, but it will be good to have some pushing wind ! Once again there is water all around, and with the ground temperature of 15° C it weakens the visibility. It is still around

Well, the board game still exists and has many players and leagues. The game is just faster on the PC with all the dice rolls ! Considering a game on PC takes around 1 hour, I can imagine a board game takes the afternooon ( having played in the old days many historical board wargames with figurines, I still remember how much time can be spent in looking inside the rulebook and arguing about the rules... Games used to extend over the weekend! )

New South Wales - Day 4 After having reached the border, we are today flying back East towards Ivanhoe YIVO with a waypoint over the Menindee lakes. I take off from Broken Hill around 14:30 local with a fine weather. The air is dry so the visibility is excellent and the sky is clear. The only problem is that if a 10 knots wind blows at ground level from the west, it is 30 to 34 knots at my cruise altitude (3500 ft). This will account for a somewhat bumpy ride... but will shorten the flight ! As I am flying east, we can see in the far some green landscape again. A
