I told Mutley I'd post shots of this livery but it completely slipped my mind. So, apologies to everyone to Mutley and everyone who was looking forward to seeing it, and here are the, rather belated, shots. Also, sorry for the odd angles, but I don't have a walk-around program. And here's the real thing. Here are the captions, as best as I could make them out. Right side (standing in front of the nose) the big cheese - ("captain, my captain") galley - (cuppa anyone?) jumpseat - (for wannabe pilots) avionics - (fancy navigation stuff) windows - (best view in the world)

Thanks, Joe. I did mean for a future destination, yes (I noticed the challenge has been to Port Elizabeth already. Bet it was a windy landing). Oh, and I forgot to mention Longyear Airport at Svalbard, seeing as people have mentioned Norway (for a future challenge). For Canada, how about Whitehorse Intl in the Yukon territory? You can even do a leg from Whitehorse to Longyear (2395nm according to the FSX flight planner). Edit: Thought of some more. Kotoka Intl in Accra, Ghana. Pago Pago Intl, American Samoa. Johnston Atoll, Johnston Island.

OR Tambo? Africa's busiest airport (I think) and also a 'hot and high' airport.

Catching the Light. I like it the most, mostly because my favorite shots are atmospheric-type shots. The feel of the shot is interesting; a little lonely, yet uplifting, and mysterious all at the same time.

Finished Aug theme: Breaking the rules!

Better watch that indigestion... -
Hi all. I'm having a problem registering for the challenge, and I thought I'd post the question here in case someone has the problem, or experiences it in future. When I fill out the form and click 'submit' I get taken back to the registration page and have to fill it in again. It doesn't clear the form, but there is a new anti-spam code and the registration does not progress. If anyone could help I'd be grateful. P.S. Must the flights be flown online (Vatsim, etc) and must it be real-world weather?

Finished Aug theme: Breaking the rules!

Now that would be something to see! A 737 in Iron Maiden Livery. Flying low, slow, and bursting everybody's eardrums. Figures doesn't it? Low and slow is just no fun at all. Captain, I don't think that's a good idea... -
Jankees, the Frieda River Airstrip scenery is a freeware release from Pacific Islands Simulation (Website: http://www.islandsim.com). I found it on flightsim.com (I think it was). The Boonah scenery is part of Ant's aussie airports by Anthony Lynch, also freeware. @Dodgy-alan. I did get down, yes, but only by getting hard on the brakes and having reverse thrust on the whole way. Getting out is relatively easy - taking off in the opposite direction to which I was landing, mind - as the runway is deceptively long.

Thank you very much! As with last time, I'm lost for words. How do award winners do speeches?

I really like that 2nd from last shot. Very soothing atmosphere. Reminds me of a night flight from JHB to London. When we landed, it was foggy with the same kind of diffuse blue light...the first time I'd ever been overseas. Beautiful shot.

Here's another shot. This certainly is not 'heavy metal' but it is a sunset. This was one of this months prize screenshot contest shots I took, but decided against using it because I thought it isn't 'bushveld' enough. But it is pretty and so I thought I'd share it (my others are ugly, bushier, but uglier).

Here's my first one (though I'm more than a little embarrassed, considering that jaw-dropping shot of Jankees.) On final to land at at Frieda River Airstrip (was coming in way too fast ). Landing after a foggy morning supply run to Fort Langley Here's the last one. A dusty outback sunset at Boonah.

I really like that last shot, like riding off into the sunset...simply beautiful.

I'm supporting the Netherlands. They're going to smash Brazil (I hope. I really do hope)! I am part Afrikaans so there's some common Dutch ancestry there.

Great shot and a very well deserved win.

I found another, this time on topic, and this has to be the lowest pass I've ever seen.
-
How about a theme for the most beautiful aircraft, considering we've had one for the ugliest? (Even though we all know the Spitfire will win. )

I've contemplated posting these shots for a while and have finally decided to do it. First three are the MelJet 777. The clouds and bloom effect are courtesy of a scenery package I found at AVSIM (of which I cannot recall the name of right now  ). Unfortunately the conversion to JPG does seem to take a bit of the ambiance out of the shots, so if anyone knows of freeware option that's better than Ulead PhotoImpact 12, I'd really appreciate a link. The following shot served as the inspiration for the title. On final approach to Kai Tak. The following is the Posky 747-400. An

Happy birthday Mutley! And thanks for the great forum.

I'm a F/A-22 Raptor.

True. Now all we need is a decent tunnel...

These are the final three... 737 Landing at Kai Tak viewed from the A340-600 flight deck. On dawn final to Logan Intl from the 777 flight deck. Night time approach to Kai Tak from the 777 flight deck. And my apologies to Dodgy-alan for replacing the first shot. I caught the new first shot by pure luck and thought it better than the other.

VFR: Tribhuvan Intl (VNKT) to Paro (VPQR) - 217nm 1) Tribhuvan is 10029ft Bitumen and has runways 2/20. Paro is 6522ft Tarmac and has runways 15/33. 2) The approach can be done in both FSX and FS9. 3) I suggest the default Boeing 737 for both FS9 and FSX. Of course, you can use payware, but the 737 and A319 are the largest aircraft that have landed there. You can fly something slower, but the airliners are the most fun. 4) For FS9 a Holger Sandmann and Jonathan de Ferranti mesh of Nepal will be necessary (available at AVSIM) as the default FS9 scenery has the airport sitting at the bottom

I didn't want to start a new thread just for this, so I thought I'd put it here. Hope it's all right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJoXMceh ... r_embedded I like this one, notable for the low approach and just look at that landing! Looked real bumpy and how he didn't run out of runway I'll never know. It's one of the most spectacular videos I've seen of a landing at Toncontin, although if I were a passenger on that plane...I'd need a lot of coffee, or something stronger.
