Wow. :icon_yikes: MEBAR was brilliant, so more of that will be fantastic.

I have an idea that might work and I might as well mention it here. How about a race? This would not be a race around the world, as that would involve close to thirty (or more) legs but something like the real-world WRC, with shorter timed stages. The stages could have some variety, with one or two endurance stages, some in the mountains and some flat-out sprints. Also, you pick your own aircraft (single engine turbo or piston prop). The timer from MERBAR could be used. It need not have the formality of MEBAR but could be a more informal, Hanger-only trial run of sorts, with each pilot's times

That's it - Chichen Itza Airport. Serving the famous UNESCO world heritage site and featured in the Fingerprints of the Gods by Graham Hancock. Sadly, FSX doesn't have the temple. :001_th_smiles48: Over to you, Dai.
-
Here's another clue; the historical site's most famous pyramid.
-
Thank you, sir. I shall certainly try. 1) This airport serves and shares its name with a famous historical site. 2) Fingerprints of the Gods Edit: I changed the 'word' monument to historical site. Should make it easier. And here's another clue: the aforementioned historical site is a UNESCO world heritage site. (The helicopter is not a clue)

Salekhard, USDD, in Russia. Joe was onto it, I reckon.

That's the one, Dai. El Alto International. :001_th_smiles89: You're up.
-
Close. The two do look very similar. And they are within 300nm of each other. 3) The exact difference between height and runway length, according to FSX, is 197ft. 4) This airport made a brief appearance in James Bond: Quantum of Solace. (or rather, the interior of its terminal building)

Thanks. Would not have got it unless I remembered that Vietnam was once part of French Indochina. 1) Land here and you would be at risk of suffering AMS. 2) The runway is almost as long, in feet, as the airport's height above sea level. The aircraft is a clue.
-
Tansonnhat in Vietnam. ICAO code is VVTS. I probably have it wrong, though. The airport in my FSX doesn't look exactly like that. Fits the clue, though.

Citation X over the Grand Canyon. New York, New York... -
I also have the RealAir Spitfire. My personal favorite is the Red Racer; absolutely perfect for buzzing the tower.
-
Correct. :001_th_smiles89: Your turn, Troy.
-
Thanks. I won't give any clues, as the screenshot should be enough. Edit: I'll give a small one. This airport has something in common with Gimli Industrial Park Airport.

The old money clue had me foxed, actually, and I kept looking at New York, as a Google search brought up a Wikipedia article on old, wealthy families and most had ties to New York. I also thought that the first clue referred to a city, not an airport, and so I kept looking for countries with Capital cities smaller than their other, more well known cities. By total luck, I came across Rome and saw Ciampino, but I was convinced that the airport must by in New York somewhere. The clue about Vesuvius led me to the right airport.
-
Ciampino, in Rome? Vesuvius is nearby, and old money could refer to the old patrician families.

That's the one, John! :icon_thumbup: Aarhus airport is approx 19.4nm from Aarhus city and is located in Tirstrup. Over to you.
-
Sorry that I only reply now; had an Internet outage yesterday. The city, which shares its name with the airport, claims the unofficial title "Capital of Jutland." It is the second largest city in its home country (which also happens to be Hamlet's home country).
-
It's close to Sweden. Go a little further south-west. And clue 3 is according to Wikipedia, and so may be inaccurate.
-
Thanks, Tim. Beautiful scenery in that shot, by the way. Here's the new one, and hopefully a tough one. Here are the clues: 1) The terminal in the scenery is very accurate and looks almost exactly like the real thing. 2) The airport is not located within the city with which it shares its name but rather in a town that goes by a different name. Here's the layout Edit: Clue 3) This airport was used as a cold war military airbase by allied forces until the 1990s.

Hamilton Island Airport?

How about adding some spice and throwing something unexpected at a pilot before a leg? You wouldn't do it every leg, to keep people guessing. So, for example, in the Swiss Alps, you can set an altitude restriction, forcing the pilot to find a way through the mountains. Or, having to complete a leg in a certain amount of time? Or, we can shamelessly rip-off TopGear and for every leg you fly, you have to include a review. After all, how hard can it be?
-
That's the one. :icon_thumbup: Over to you, stu7708.

Thanks John. To be honest, I used Google to look for a list of Orion airbases, and Jacksonville fit the layout. 1) The aircraft is a clue. 2) According to an anecdotal story published in the New York Times, the first Alaskan Airlines flight at this airport needed deicing services but none was available, so the flight crew acquired a large quantity of Vodka and sprayed it onto the wings! (Source is Wikipedia) Edit: Forgot to mention that the scenery is not default. Also, here is another clue: The aircraft mentioned in the anecdote was an MD-82.
