  1. Sobering video that of Chuck J'S ...... I remember that engine sound "PC-BUZZ" on FS2
  2. Excellent! ...... get this man an Oscar ... !! David
  3. Yes pictures/screen shots of these early sims would be interesting. I'd like to confirm which MS Flight Simulator had just 4 colours, and which version black & white only ...... David
  4. Yes, I would be interested in information on this product (TREESCAPES VOLUME 1 South England & South Wales I have but have not yet installed). I have just installed Horizon's VFR Photographic Scenery veR3 Generation X Southern England & South Wales, along with its stablemate UK2000 VFR Airfields vol1 ... but do these trees really add much visually (given that they take up a chunk of disk space!)? Also, does on need to have internet on the same machine as FSX? ...... Affaire à suivre ...... David
  5. Oops! FS2 was quite recent was n't it?? ... Still think Sublogic ATP was pretty good (they even had proper ait traffic control back in 19xx ...... David (still taking the tablets ......)
  6. Ouch!! ... I know your advice makes sense, guys, but any update I make has to be on the FOUR computers that I use for my flightsim cockpit ... (one pays for one's pleasure, n'est pas,!) Gulp ... !! David
  7. Felicitations, mon brave!!
  8. Just before I get my credit card out ...... how does REX3 (with free update) compare with:- ... World Enviroment 2012, or ... Active Sky 2012 Anyone? Bearing in mind that I have limited disk-space, and will only be interested in "sky effects" (and possibly "ground stuff" § ...... David
  9. Microsoft Flight Simulator FS2 for me ... but until FS5 came along SubLogic ATP was much better (clouds and "grown up" planes) especially with their addons (HQ panels / sounds etc) ... I still think that FS5 night lighting was the best (or maybe its my rose-tinted specs?) ...... David
  10. Be interesting to hear from someone who has used both REX AND ACTIVE SKY 2012 ... (and maybe also WORLD ENVORONMENT 2012?) ......... David
  11. Not yet! ..... still getting into the latest ORBX airfield addons (and keeping an eye on my dwindling disk space ... !!!) ... thanks for all your comments ... David
  12. More & more interesting ...... thanks to all you forum members ......... David
  13. Merci, Joe! Will your "pinned" info tell me how to post photos (as opposed to screenshots ... ?? David
  14. Interesting! ...... "plenty in FSX" ... ? ...... where are they (anyone?!?) ......... David
  15. I seem to remember (back in the days of FS5!) that there were several aircraft carriers in the basic MS Flight Simulator (ie with no addons) ... south of Hawaii, and just off the coast from San Francisco, if my memory holds up ...... do any forum members know if there exist now any carriers in MS FSX ......... ??? David
  16. From time to time one sees members posting questions on "how to post photos on this forum" ... and frequently I know there are members who provide answers to this ... but would it not be usefull to have a "pinned" technical topic on the forum explaining once and for all exactly how to do this ... ?? ... just a suggestion. David
  17. Thanks everyone ... I'm getting tempted! ... but ... how much disk space does the program itself take up (critical for me)? David
  18. Hey! Now having more time to spend on the flight simulator, I am beginning to appreciate aspects of FSX that I hadn't before appreciated ... boosting the wind speeds, I can really hear some great wind effects around the cockpit, both on the ground and in the air ... great!! David
  19. Bonjour, Up to now I have been quite satisfied with FSX default weather, but I continue to hear rave reviews of REX ...... so, before I buy this addon, just a request for the latest views of the forum. I would only use the sky aspects (or maybe the sea stuff!), so is it worth it, does it reduce frame-rate appreciably, and does it take up much disk space (all critical for me!) Thanks ...... David
  20. In my opinion, FSX ATC control is really now not bad at all (despite sillinesses like ignorance of terrain heights), and one can take realistic medium haul IFR controlled flights in the B737, using FSX built-in flight planner & their ATC following. Just one little niggle ...... why oh why do I always seem to get directed on arrival to gates far from the most interesting terminal airbridges? ... perhaps it's because I am flying Speedbird (BA) that I get directed to the "back of beyond" ... ?!?! David
  21. Yep, Brian ... I tried this too! But I suppose going to the horses' mouth might prove fruitfull (Beoing/Airbus) ... I'll keep you informed ......... David
  22. Bonjour ...... does any one know where cockpit flip-signs can be obtained? ... Thes are the little green flip-over metal signs found on the central pedestal of all Boeing aircraft manipulated by the cabin staff indicating that the passenger cabin is "prepared for takeoff" or "prepared for landing". A check on this being part of the airlines operating procedures/checklists ... for my cockpit this would aid me to be sure that the main passenger cabin door is shut (a condition necessary for my cabin announcement sub-program to initialise) ...... thanks, David
  23. LAST TRY!!! ... to get this photo inserted ... (sorry for my clumsiness!!!) 2D only for me too! ...... having a "physical" cockpit, the 3D virtual cockpit is of absolutely no interest!! My aim (nearly achieved) is to have no keyboard or mouse use in flight ... and with the 2D panel I can modify and reposition all guages to my liking ... eg in the FSX default B737-800:- http://www.wideview.it/images/WV-B737.JPG Because of the above setup the lack of 2D panels in many new aircraft addons is very annoying ... how do other home cockpit builders cope with this I wonder? Another point ... how d
  24. OOPS! ... a second attempt to get this photo inserted ... (sorry for my clumsiness!!!) 2D only for me too! ...... having a "physical" cockpit, the 3D virtual cockpit is of absolutely no interest!!
