  1. Probably me being stupid again, but, having entered my City, I still don't see my place on the members map ...... what am I doing wrong?!?! David
  2. Bonjour Joe, Like the flag addition, joe, but what about the case where one is an expat (like me!), proud of one's country of origin/nationality but living in another country? ...... Can one have a split zone for the flag(s)? ...... and what about the European Flag?! David
  3. John ... thanks for your reply ... I'll pass your comments on to a friend who is more tchnically minded than me§ Is there really no other way to activate the buttons on this control yoke? Davod
  4. I have an old (but trusty and very realistic) floor mounted control yoke (Precision Flight Controls's "JETLINER") in my home cockpit ... FSX under WindowsXP. At present it works very well, but the only buttons that work are the brakes ... I would really like to use the other 9 buttons (especially the electronic trim controls and the Autopilot disconnect) Anyone on the forum think that I can make this great piece of equipment work fully (without a USB cable connection, which it does not have!!) David
  5. I have some basic (and maybe silly) questions on FSX. If any forum members can help I would appreciate it:- 1 ...... Is there an FSX keyboard command for "seatbelt signs ON/OFF"? 2 ...... Is there a separate guage for the smoking & seatbelt ON/OFF switches, or is the overhead panel "one" guage? 3 ...... Is there a keyboard command for fuel cross-feed control? 4 ...... When fuelling the default B737-800 (my panel guages are in lbs) ... 1 kilo = 2.2046 pounds? 5 ...... Likewise ... 1 litre = 0.264179 US gallons? 6 ...... In FSX is there any way to know if in fact the main aircraft door
  6. Thanks Tim_A & ddavid ... your comments make a lot of sense, but in my use of saved flights I need to access any of my flights at any time. I use them for "a plane type" in a particular "geographical position" with "appropriate weather" ... that is in a particular place in the world I have a suitable plane in a realistic parking place with the right type of local weather (I meant this to save myself a lot of time ... time spent flying rather than configuring!!), but having to search through 60 "random" flight titles rather mitigates this time saving!!! I really don't see why FSX can li
  7. Great photos ... makes me glad that I live there! ... David
  8. Thanks needles ... so ok FSX lists my saved flights in chronologiocal order (all of them?) ... but this is very annoying for me when I want to select a specific saved flight from amongst my more than 60 flights! ... is there not a way to force FSX to list my flights for selection in alpha-numeric (as FSX already does for the "save a flight" menu ...... ???!!??? David
  9. Dear All, An FSX file question (perhaps stupid) ... but the reason escapes me, and it's bloody annoying! When I save a Flight, a list of existing Flights is presented to me IN PERFECT ALPHABETIC ORDER ... However ... when I recall these saved Flights they are presented to me in NO PARTICULAR ORDER ... making it necessary for me to descend through all my (by now quite numerous) saved Flights to find the one I want to use ... !?!? Can anyone tell me why this is so / is it normal / and is there any way to force FSX to list my Flights in normal (Numerico-alpha) order, like any other Windows sor
  10. Forum questions should make a change from flight-simming ... and I can hardly wait for the SCREENSHOTS ...... § David
  11. This is going to make a great aviation book ... put me down for the launch party! David

  13. Bonjour, I agree ... all ORBX scenery packages for USA-CANADA for the best "enhanced scenery" ... and don't forget to buy all their local airport scenery add-ons! For the best "photographic scenery" I heartily recommend Flylogic Switzerland X professional. My list:- ... FSIUPC ... Just Flight TRAFFIC X ... 14. About the up-and-down FSX-ATC ...... were your altimeters correctly set? David
  15. Bonjour hunyadi, Great story-telling ...... keep it up! You are almost getting me interested in this "Air Hauler thing" ... except it sounds like some serious flying time is involved!! David
  16. Bonjour Gabethepilot, If you are going to fly only props, I would recommend looking at Virtual Reality Insight PROP COCKPIT TRAINER ... if you are going to fly only jets, you could look at their JETPIT panel ... however, if you want to fly both props AND jets I really recommend looking at GoFlights cockpit panels, which can really be configured easily for lots of different types of aircraft! David

(photographic with lots of variety ... mountains, urban, desert, etc) David

  20. Bonjour from France! Me too! ... just my real name (pas de nom de plume!!)... I have enough trouble remembering all my pin codes, log-in numbers, etc, etc !! By the way, can anyone tell me how to get promoted from "GROUND STAFF" to "SENIOR CAPTAIN" (at least) on this forum ...... SEE LEFT David
  21. Hello! ...... I need some technical advice from anyone on this Forum who knows (or who has experience of) percentage hard disk space to leave free. At present I have a 150 giga harddisk operating under WindowsXP running FSX only. This unsurprisingly is getting full, but at present FSX runs correctly ... I would like to add some further scenery packages, but do not wish to replace the hard disk! So ... having 148.3go usable, I have at present 123go reported as USED, leaving 25.3go FREE ... I would like to install the two latest ORBX enhanced scenery packages for USA-CANADA (the first is alrea
  22. Bonjour Joe, Congratulations for a very friendly AND efficient site! As you say, THE aero simulation site to look at first for an unbiased new product review, and quick help on all sorts of problems ...... All the best for 2011 Cordialement ... David
  23. The Bond film autogyro was I think ...... WALLIS TYPE WA-116 (XR-943) AUTO GYRO "LITTLE NELLIE" ...... I have a photo of it if anyone could explain to me (in idiots language!) the way to insert images here !?!?! David
  24. Bonjour Needles, I use 4 computers on a LAN ... 1 server for the cockpit, and 3 clients for the forward view. There are 3 monitors behind the cockpit facade with 1 other monitor (out of site of the photos) all off the server. At present I fly 8 (default) aircraft each with its own modified panel configuration and set of 3 removable metal masks/cutouts. Each of the three servers has just 1 monitor each with a full-screen "out of window" view. These views are controlled by Luciano Napolitano's WIDEVIEW software. As you can see from the above photo of the cockpit in its LEARJET version, it
  25. Yes the locked cabin door does complicate things! Although from my observations there is quite a lot of communication between the pilots and the flight attendants ... so the lack of activity up front would probably be noticed well before the aircraft spent too much time over its last waypoint fix... not to mention ATC Control who might be getting upset over the lack of radio response from the cockpit. The clincher for the cabin staff probably being the lack of a Captain's request for coffee over the last 10 minutes. The question should also be asked ... does the senior flight attendant carry a
