  1. Having a 2 seat cockpit, flying sessions become quite social (I even fly occasionally with my significant opposite number!!) ... also it's interesting to split cockpit tasks (as in the real world) between "Pilot-flying" and "pilot-nonflying", where one can concentrate on "flying correctly", and the other on navigation and radios ...... ...... plus a little red wine can liven-up any flight ............ !!! David
  2. Yep Andrew, of course!(But I'd still like to see this guys spec for just one computer!!) Any way ... bravo for him ... if one is happy to fly only one type of plane, this must be one of the best sim-cockpits I've seen ... his site to be watched (with envy?) ...... !! David
  3. Merci jaydor! Well, I'm flabbergasted!! ..... all smooth, and on a very tricky approach & landing at Innsbruch (with no co-pilot too)!!! ... give this guy his medal AND bar ...... !!! So why am I running my cockpit with 4 computers ... ??!!?? David
  4. Sorry guys but this home cockpit has NOT been constructed "for peanuts" ... !! For me it's an expensive sophisticated two seat dedicated B737NG cockpit, wery well constructed, and with 2 video projectors to boot!! He's even got linked control yokes and seperate tiller steering ... bravo to him!!! Although I would have liked the video to show an actual flight, as for the life of me I don't see how he can run all this off just ONE computer ....... !! David
  5. I find flying (and exploring) with a co-pilot is rewarding ... ie having a 2-place home cockpit! David
  6. Excellent AA training session video (FLY THE AEROPLANE) ... I fly FSX B737-800 in my twin cockpit with a friend, and we have at some time or other committed ALL of these errors ... !!! eg leaving A/T on during a "manual" landin, and wandering why we were not stopping!!!! Also in my opinion most heavy iron landings ARE made with Auto-pilot (AND auto-throttle!!) off ... as I have witnessed when sitting-in in the cockpit during actual landings, and also on the many commercially available "cockpit videos"! David
  7. Absolutely ... FLCH (flight Level Change) on the autopilot would be very unwise so close to the ground .... but surely in good visibility no commercial jet is going to be landed with the Autopilot, surely? ...... my info on this is that final approach is always taken in manual! David
  8. Intriguing ... !!! ... would this be usefull in getting some use out of my GoFlight EFIS module that at present seems to do nothing for FSX default aircraft? I would like to use the EFIS module with the FSX default Boeing B737-800 ... not too much to ask is it ...... ???!!!??? Can anyone help ...... ?? David
  9. Bonjour Phil, Nice video, thanks ... but, to my mind it demonstrates how poor FSX big city nightlighting is ... here London seems to be suffering a major power cut (except for a few favoured "Landmark" buildings) ... in my opinion, FSX nights are OK flying over western USA type farms and small towns, but major cities ... forget it. Shame ... David
  10. Cost?? ..... too much for me, but what a great simulator!! Difficult to find fault (only envy?) ... and just look he's got his 2 control yokes linked. Only possible comment might be the out-of-window view, where you have the old problem with twin sim cockpits = 3 monitors broken by a central "window" pillar ... only real solution would be projectors (but I guess this guy already has this in planning ... ??!! David
  11. Excellent review for an excellent product ... ! Merci!! ... David
  12. Bonjour Brett, Yes I see this command listed ... but with no default key command indicated ... can you tell me how to create this (so that I can transfer and use it with my GoFlight modules? David
  13. Bonjour, Does anyone know if there exists a standard FSX keyboard command for ... "APU on / APU off" ... ?? I am trying to get every last cockpit control onto my Go Flight system (ie no mouse!!) ... but the default B737 for example (as far as I can see) has the APU startup "embedded" in the overhead panel (which is just one guage??), so I cant even get at it with FSUIPC!! Any ideas? ... David
  14. Fascinating video ... and very telling! Incidently, I can't imagine this comparison video being allowed on the Orbx Forum ...... !! David
  15. Nice video! ...... has anyone tried running ORBX UK from a harddisk other than the one with FSX installed? ... David (Small footnote ... I think that was Tower Bridge you were flying under, not London Bridge ...)
  16. Genial!! ...... very interesting to have a real cockpit with FS software and multi-screens! ... All off one computer? ... Have you thought of projectors instead of screens for the out-of-cockpit views??? David

Bravo, Joe ...... love the wodescreen shot (hope you were carrying floatation devices) ........ ?? David
  18. Merde alors!! ...... all those real instruments, and lit up too ... I'm really jealous! David
  19. I agree that this TAHITI scenery is well worth getting ... like the Caribean area and the Hawaii islands, island hopping is always visually very interesting. And here the airports are nicely designed without too much of a frame hit. Just be aware that, being now 4 years old the scenery is not up to the latest standards (ORBX for example), but then again I don't know of any other Tahiti islands product. I still fly this scenery regularly, and (as our MUTLEY said) a float plane is recommended ... although an ATR commuter can be used to fly from Tahiti-FAAA to the most northerly islands, as they
  20. Any feed-back from our heavy-iron sim pilots? All the good stuff seems to be in those GA cockpits ... what about those of us sitting in our B737s (nose wheel rumble on the runway centre-line cats eyes, turbulance, etc??) David
  21. Impressive last video! ... great landing in filthy weather, but could have done without the background chorus! ... David
  22. I'm speechless!! ...... but all this restores my faith in mankind (we are not yet on Mars, but at least this is a start ... !?!?) ...... David
  23. Right ... I see that I can uninstall GENX night scenery without problem, but have to keep all other options ticked (if I wish to benifit from 0.6m resolution ... which is the main reason I bought GENX ver3 ... !!! ... horns of the old dilemma). Tim a Ray, I guess though that using UTX Europe nightlighting would take up a big bit of HD space, no? And yes exactly Ray, using a common HD would slow down my 4 computer setup ... the original purpose of which was to maximize frame rate whilst using 3 full screen forward views (on 3 computers), with only the cockpit panels on the fourth computer ...
  24. Thanks Ray & Mike, Yes I know, new harddisks are really required, but as I use 4 computers for my cockpit setup (each with a pucka FSX etc) this an expensive undertaking!!) Yep, I have installed version 3 ... Thanks for the confirmation that to profit from 0.6m res ALL daytime resolutions need to be ticked ... although I suppose the 2.4m night option could be omitted (some users report that GEN X night lighting is not too impressive?) David
  25. I have just installed Playsims/HORIZON's VFR Photographic Scenery Generation X VOLS 1 & 2 for FSX, and (noting their enormous disk-space requirements) have a few uncertainties, if any one on the forum who uses this scenery can help me ...... The box mentions 18Gb space each volume (whereas on my system they take up a great deal more!). True I have opted for the total (maximum) install options ... but still I have perhaps installed more than is necessary, even wanting to take advantage of the highest possible resolution available. Question ... if I want 0.6m resolution, are the install op
