  1. 2D only for me too! ...... having a "physical" cockpit, the 3D virtual cockpit is of absolutely no interest!! My aim (nearly achieved) is to have no keyboard or mouse use in flight ... and with the 2D panel I can modify and reposition all guages to my liking ... eg in the FSX default B737-800:- http://www.wideview.it/images/WV-B737.JPG' alt='WV-B737.JPG'> Because of the above setup the lack of 2D panels in many new aircraft addons is very annoying ... how do other home cockpit builders cope with this I wonder? Another point ... how do you fly with only 2 forward views (the screen bezel
  2. Impressive ...... but should n't you be doing all this on the ramp, as opposed to on the active runway ... ??!! ...... David
  3. Bonjour, Will be following with interest the evolution of this cockpit ...... joyeux noël! David
  4. I meant of course a parachute on the plane ......... David
  5. Yes, thanks Joe ... an advert (checkout the starting banner ... "fictionalisation", in their lovely American way with words!!) ...... still I liked the stunt! David
  6. Not sure if this is a stunt, but it's impressive anyway ... !! http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=zbfZxvsDp3c Good publicity for the pickup in any event ......... !!! David
  7. Spluttering hamburghers, Joe! ... did you put together that video? There are obviously no limits to ORBX genius ...... David
  8. Yes, merci Joe ..... can be very frustrating (although interesting playing around with the xml files) ... I have been able to change heights above ground ranges for cutting out traffic alerts too near to the airfield where FSX ATC is controlling sequencing (and the TCAS shouting at me helps not a lot!!) ... with the B737 I want the TCAS guage to initialize at 15nm range (instead of 5 or 10): it works the first time, but if I shut the engines downand then start up I again have the 5nm range (I can change this with the mouse, but in, my cockpit I would like to eliminate the mouse entirely) I thi
  9. Yep, I am working on their xml files ... have had some success, but as always with FSX guages, there seems always to be hidden unforseen effects ......... David
  10. Right thanks for the help ...... giving it a lot of thought! ... aeromax, can you expand abit on your suggestion (creating 500go out of a H/D of 150go ...... ?!?! David
  11. Bonjour Tim_A ...... where can I get those "fugly" textures that you spoke of ... ?! ......... David
  12. So ... not many forum members using this nice little guage! I am trying to force certain range settings at startup, and would like any comments from members who do use this guage ......... David
  13. Bonjour Joe, Track IR is also impossible for the copilot if you fly a 2 seat cockpit ... !! I wonder, is Bob running all this off just one computer ........ ?? David
  14. Bonjour Eric, Unfortunately I cant help you as I fly rigourously OFFLINE (ie no VATSim, etc) ... !! You could ask the develpoers direct, but I found them abit overloaded to hand out information to me (who is trying to modify their files) ... but you might get a quick reply to this simple question? It's a great little guage though ...... !! David
  15. Yes, thankyou Tim ... my clumsy fingerwork duplicated this post! Indeed, I intend keeping all America on the first harddisk (the one with the OP and FSX) ... this will include of course ORBX NW USA-CANADA, reserving the new disk for Europe, including of course all that lovely UK photo scenery ... (plus the French photo stuff, to keep my French friends happy ... !!!) David
  16. ... Interesting mix of real and simulated ... bizare ATC voices ... clever voice interaction (VOXATC) ... vomit making visuals ((TRACK IR5) ... very nasty if you are a passenger (or video cameraman!) ... curious 5 vertical screens Bravo, Bob ...... David
  17. Bonjour Joe, I agree with you banning JETRANGER from this forum ... but it is an extreme measure (for an extreme, and apparently very angry, series of postings) ... but, have you had to ban very many others members, I wonder? Hope not ...... David
  18. Bonjour Jim, I envy you starting out on this fascinating hobby ...... keep at it, and you might even eventually be tempted to get up into a real plane ... but in the mean time HAVE FUN! David
  19. I am running 4 computers over a LAN under WindowsXP only for Microsoft Flight Simulator X ... (and yes I do have 4 copies of both Windows AND FSX ... !!!!). However, the harddisks (150go) are now filling up (80%used) and I need more space for all the new "hungry" scenery addons, without slowing down the OP's. To avoid having to reinstall everything (on 4 computers!!!), I have decided NOT to replace my existing H/D's with new high capacity ones, but to install second disks within the towers "side-by-side". Friends (and members of other FS forums) assure me that this can be done without slowlin
  20. Bonjour, I have been using DBS Studio's TCAS GUAGE for FSX for some time, but now am (with their OK/ advice) starting to modify it to suit my specific cockpit layout. Do any forum members have experience of this nifty little payware addon guage ... ?? David
  21. Very interesting review ...... on yet another good product from GoFlight. ...... but does the squelch knob really work? ...... to be fair to other GF products, their GF-P8 module can also be used for FSX ATC communications ... allowing numbered standard ATC pilot responses with one action (just one button push) instead of this reviewed products double action (rotating knob number selection, then pushing to select!) ...... I read somewhere that FSX ATC communications can be spit in two within FS itself (I suppose with 2 sound cards?) which would allow ONLY ATC communications through the head
  22. Bonjour rob16584, Just done the same thing! ...... what scenery are you going to replace them with? David
  23. Indeed, this is the great question for home cockpit builders ... how specific to one aircraft type to get (as near 100% accurate as possible) OR how generic to leave it (allowing fairly realistic flying in many planes). Some of the Boeing simulators one sees on this and other forums are fantastic, but do the owners never ever honestly want to do a little VFR flying in a GA craft? There are solutions ... always with compromises to reality to make ... eg removable panel masks backed up by FS panel configurations for each aircraft. David
  24. Yes amazing (as usual with ORBX!), but what does it do to frame rates? Personally I would prefer ORBX to push the ambient sound element within their airport addons ... David
