Looks serious this cockpit ...... Great ...... David -
Right Sabre & Kieran ... thanks! I see know that with "motion scaling" one can be looking (say) 30 degree left (ie still looking at the screen) whilst getting a 90 degree left screen/sim view. Still it seems to me only to work with FS virtual cockpit view (which I never use!)Also sitting in a home cockpit the forward view moving around over a "fixed" physical control panel seem a bit odd to say the least ... !!! Another thing ... in a two place cockpit seems like visual anarchy between the 2 TrackIR headsets ...... (or, again, am I missing something?) Thanks for everybodies help to this
-
Bonjour Brian, I must admit I always thought the principle of TrackIR totaly illogical. Considering for a moment a minimum FS system (all on one monitor) ... you are facing this monitor looking forward, then moving you head to the left the image on the screen moves in the direction of your head, but you are looking at the wall next to your computer not this monitor ... what's the sense of it ... ?!?! I understand now that there is a zoom facility which could be useful, but still cannot credit the use of an image showing a side view when you are not looking at the screen ... !?!? Hope someon

Bonjour Brian, So ... no projectors thought of for future development! Staying with one forward monitor on the width of your cockpit seems minimal considering the high quality of the physical control panel ... is this monitor off a single computer? If you had another computer you could maybe think of two monitors to give a wider viual ... ?!?! David

Hello, Can anyone tell me what possible interest there can be in using "TrackIR" ...... ?!?! David
-
Bonjour Brian, Looking very good your cockpit! ... Although a "one place" I see that it has a reasonable width, so what outside visuals are you thinking of? (A single monitor would seem out of scale behind your glare shield, and a single projector (apart from needing lots of space) would imply a "real" windscreen ...... have you considered the "WideView" system ?? David

Have you considered FLYLOGIC SWITZERLAND X PROFESSIONAL photographic scenery (in my opinion the best ever photo-scenery), which covers the whole of Switzerland (both summer & winter seasons!)... and they also sell large numbers of fully compatible enhanced small GA airfields (just right for short VFR hops ......... Product Review New Review - FSAddons Vancouver +
David TRIGGS replied to mutley's topic in News and Press Releases
I'm a bit confused here ...... Does this review concern the FSADDON product VANCOUVER+ FOR FSX that I have had since 2009 and have used with great pleasure and no problems, and that operates with no compatibility problems with ORBX PACIFIC NORTHWEST (assuming use of the compatibilty patch issued by FSADDON)? ... if not, what are the real differences compared to my version? ... and should I wait for the soon to be issued VANCOUVER+ "version 3" ......... ?!?! David -
Bonjour Needles, Good start on your cockpit! ... Bravo!! Interesting that you have decided to create an aircraft type specific control panel ... do you not want to fly different aircraft? I am sure many forum members building cockpits have struggled with this dilemma ... specific or flexible ... and I'd be interested in your reasoning. Will you be enclosing the cockpit later ...... ?!?! David

Well alright, Joe ... it's really a B737 in disguise ...... !!! David

Custom ATC callsign
David TRIGGS replied to David TRIGGS's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
Bonjour tous le monde, Ah! ... Have found a way to get my ATC British Airways callsign SPEEDBIRD on my default B737-800 ... With EditVoicepack ver 4.0! Excellent!! David -
Can anyone tell me how to "WATCH A TOPIC" ... (as opposed to "WATCH FORUM") ... ?!? David

Custom ATC callsign
David TRIGGS replied to David TRIGGS's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
Yes, but (as far as I know) not by default! SPEEDBIRD is not listed in this menu as originally installed by FSX. I was wondering if anyone knew how to "find" the audio file installed by Just Flight's TRAFFIC X (and at present used by FSX ATC (but only for AI traffic ... NOT ME, ALAS!! David -
Anyone on the forum know how to creat custom callsigns to be used by FSX ATC? I would like on my British Airways controlled flights to be contacted with the standard BA callsign ... "SPEEDBIRD" There must already be a "Speedbird" audio file somewhere on my hard disk, as I use Justflight's TRAFFIC X and therefore hear lots of their AI traffic being contacted as "Speedbird". Can I somehow edit my default B737-800 config to include this callsign?? David

Merde alors!! I seem to have stirred up a hornets' nest? ... I agree with you, Joe, that it's better to remain positive (on such a subjective matter!!) I'm relieved that my zero reputation is not a bad thing (even if I am only a "Ground Handler" ...... !!??!! David
-
Hello All, Can anyone tell me what the function of "reputation - (up to 5 stars!)" is, in the MEMBERS heading? And why am I at "ZERO" ... !! David
-
Great, thankyou Joe ...... but I feel a bit lonely here in Paris !!!! David
-
What do the blue circles signify? ... multiple pins?? David
-
Bonjour stu7708, Right I was being stupid ... just neede to zoom in a bit! ... thanks!! David

Anyone seen this product? ... it's called an "jDome" ... and apparently it's a (not cheap) circular projection screen that works with any video projector and needs no software program in order to work with any computer game/simulation ... (for example flight simulation or road racing) ... Sitting in the middle of this screen/enclosure the user has the impression of really being in the sim (more than 180 degrees!!), according to the blurb ...... !?! Go and see this product on:- www.simw.com Any comments/feedback would be interesting ...... !!! David
