  1. That looks good. Does it include Sleap (airfield)?
  2. But a 320GB Hybrid drive will only set you back £75, and gets you 90% of the performance improvement of a pure SSD... Only difficulty right now is finding anywhere with some in stock.
  3. Have a look in the Windows Application Log (Administrative Tools->Event Viewer). That'll give more detail about the crash and maybe we can give better advice.
  4. Agree with the Spinpoints. I've got six 1TB Spinpoints split across two NAS boxes and a homebrew. Good performers, reliable and quiet. Previously had a Seagate drive, and it was rubbish.
  5. Last I heard about a week ago, it was 'very close'. I know that doesn't really mean anything -- P-G took a further 3 weeks from when I first said "it'll be out the end of this week". It's amazing what the prospect of imminent release does to cause hidden & hitherto unknown issues to creep out of the woodwork!
  6. Make sure you don't have a second controller plugged in - that can often cause wierd conflicts like this.
  7. They will look even better when we get buildings too... (during the crashes I was too busy, er, crashing tto take pictures! )
  8. Picked up a nice little heli in the sales. Not entirely under control yet, but fortunately the first crash, er, landing was in the grounds of the Fire Service training college...
  9. Here's my top 5: 1. Rex Overdrive 2. Earth Sims Treescapes 3. Earth Sims Isles of Scilly 4. FTX PNW 5. Milviz Cessna 310
  10. Well, my first name is Tim, and my last name begins with A. Pretty boring really.
  11. Got about 4 inches here in Oxon. My client up in the Cotswolds, just a few miles away, is completly snowed in. We completely missed out on the last lot though.
  12. Merry Christmas everyone, happy snowball throwing, and congrats on the 40000! :icon_bowdown: "Mr 0.06 Percent"
  13. The only comment I'd add is that a group of the beta testers[*] have put together a package of enhancements for the Orkney and Shetland scenery. This package consists of all airports and airstrips together with blended flattens, lighthouses, including the Barrel of Butter and the Skerries light, road traffic and ai air traffic all accurately placed. Default objects are used in the main, but there is some bespoke models, such as the Old Man of Hoy. The package can be used either with or without ScotFlight. In order to use the air traffic files it is necessary to have on your system two freewar
  14. Well, apart from the approach, and the landing.... At least he hit the centre line! Also, not much point in landing on the numbers if you've then got to taxi two miles to the turn off at the far end (where presumably the ambulance is waiting to take you to the spinal injuries unit)...
  15. People need to realise that aiming one of these devices is no different to or less dangerous than pointing a gun at somebody. And it should have the same penalty, IMHO.
  16. I was interested in this, as my mother worked on Sunderland production during the war. But I'd previously bought their Wellington (again an interest, since the airfield I occasionally fly from was a Wellington base, and I'd done a fair bit of research into its history), but I was severely disappointed with that both on the exterior finish - which looked like it had been done by a trainee Warhammer modeller, and completely missed the geodesic substructure - and the interior which was extremely simplistic and only worked if you didn't move your eyepoint (otherwise you'd start to see all the hole
  17. I don't know if you'd get away with it, but I'd certainly pay to see it...! :icon_rockon:
  18. Relax! Have a coffee.....
  19. It won't help you with SIDs and STARs though, since it's aimed primarily at the VFR pilot...
  20. In Oz and NZ, they have a variant of the latte, called a Flat White (basically it's stronger; less foam), and it's pretty much impossible to get it without having some art drawn in (in NZ it's always a fern; Oz, usually a heart, but trees and animals feature a lot too) - even as takeout. Certainly in NZ it's the staple coffee drink, and everywhere serves it and everyone drinks it. Flat whites have crept into the UK over the last year or two (Starbucks and Costa headline them) but they are done in the traditional English manner (ie finding the key features and completely ignoring them). So you
  21. Red Spot (or at least it could have been if he wasn't looking...)
  22. Expensive way to misread a NOTAM! My guess is he saw zulu time on the restriction, and thought it was local time (1 hour different in the Summer) HOWEVER, one might wonder, if ATC ordered the Cessna pilot to climb, why did they not warn him off from entering the restricted airspace in the first place? Oh, and how on earth can the comments manage to turn this incident into a Boeing vs Airbus slanging match? Puh-lease!
  23. The last two on your list (Launceston & Port Macquarie) are Orbx Freeware (Sydney is the only one that isn't an FTX airport!) Also free are Redcliffe, Lilydale, Bussleton, Cunderdin, Port Lincoln. Plus a host of others from Anthony Lynch and of course the 300+ OZx strips. I don't know how well they blend with the default landscape, but something is better than nothing, right? The two "key" airports you have missed IMHO, are Alice Springs and Ayers Rock. I'd also add Jandakot (Perth) and Darwin. I've been working my way round Australia for about a year now (started in Hobart, then Nort
