Very slight highlights over the ribs on the wings, from weathering (the ribs will be slightly raised, since the fabric sucks in when it is stretched). Possibly some small flecks on the leading edges from smashed bugs; oil stains & dirt around the exhaust & under the cowl. That's about as much as I can think of...

FSX SAVED FLIGHTS
Tim_A replied to David TRIGGS's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
I think your only real option is to archive off any flights you're unlikely to revisit into a subfolder, and just reduce the size of the list that way. -
I disagree. Orbx is not the be-all-and-end-all of scenery. (I bet if this scenery was in an Orbx box, you'd be all over it...) Yes it will be directly competing with Orbx at some time, months in the future (not till next year for the North Island), but it still deserves the right to stand on its own two feet, and for a while yet at least, it is your only choice for quality NZ scenery. Of course, many consider Orbx currently to be the gold standard, and there's no doubt they have done much to raise the bar, and any scenery still has to be able to hold its own - that's why we have reviews after

Say what you like about Steve Jobs (and many do), but Apple at least have the sense to realise tht without the ability to jailbreak, they'd sell a lot fewer iPhones/iPod Touch/iPads. Sony are just creating for themselves a bad PR storm. (not so much from wanting to crush the jb, but from strongarming YouTube, Twitter etc). Sony may come to their senses when/if their action starts impacting their bottom line... And yes, this is *not* about piracy.

Something very strange went wrong with my database overnight, and today I kept getting unhandled exception errors every 30 seconds ("BOF or EOF or the current record has been deleted"). So I had to roll back to yesterday's backup (you do keep backups of your company db...? ) Which is a shame, because I got in a couple of decent loads (despite how the minions loaded the plane - see screenshots). On the other hand, Barnes Wallis still has his job, because after causing 24% damage to my brand new CargoMaster yesterday with a "dangerous" landing, I was about to fire his arse. I guess this is a

Interesting. I was always given the impression IVAO didn't have much going on in the UK, at least as far as VFR was concerned. Maybe it's worth another look...

Bet you regret getting that "I brake for rabbits" sticker...

"Cleared take off 26, right-hand turn out". Just another load... rotate... come on... Heave... feet up... Oh crud! Memo to estate: Don't let the minions do your W&B calcs!

The Great Australian Air Rally 2011 - GAAR 2011
Tim_A replied to ddavid's topic in MHFC Captains Lounge
Practice, mainly, and being aware of the wind. That's where flying the whole rally has an advantage. My first few scores were comparatively poor, but they got better as the rally progressed. -
I think your best bet there is to overlay the text data onto the GE image. But for John to build a plate he (or you) would have to create an AFCAD for the airport, since that's where the data to build the diagram comes from (it's the same whether you are using ADE, AFX, AFCAD or even Plan-G for the diagram, and the AFCAD is crucial to this). And at the end of the process, you would have no better information than you've already provided. Plus, plonking an afcad down there would pretty much ruin the character of what is a cracking little strip (I've flown there a few times in FSX).

The Great Australian Air Rally 2011 - GAAR 2011
Tim_A replied to ddavid's topic in MHFC Captains Lounge
I couldn't help noticing that first and second places went to the same person... (obviously someone with too much time on their hands - it was hard enough getting one plane all the way round let alone two or more! And to think the old rallies had 40+ legs and went well into a second month...) Anyway, well done chaps: It was fun! :icon_thumbup: Now, UK rally. Were you aware of the RW "Around Britain Air Rally" that took place in, I think, 2004? The web site for it is long gone, but there are still traces of it around the web... -
I've got a feeling the OZx ---'s Place strips are fictional, named after members of the dev team.

I've had conversations in the past with an aviation photographer (ex-RAF, and whose work regularly appears on the front cover of UK aviation mags) and seen enough of his photos to believe those pictures *could* be real (not saying those particular ones are). Don't forget they spend an awful lot of time in very close formation behind big tankers when they are refuelling, and accurate station-keeping is something they are extremely good at, even in turbulent air. As to how close would/could they get... officially, I'd guess what, 20 feet? 10? Unofficially, well I wouldn't believe you if you said

Thanks Stu. <lowers expectations> Guess I've been spoilt by all that Orbx scenery!

Anyone got Aerosoft's Luxembourg Airports for FSX? If so, I'd appreciate an honest opinion before I shell out any readies... Thx.

And because the rep per job decreases so sharply above 60%, I was losing it much faster than I could make it, too!
-
Thanks John. I think the rest of the crew must have got wind of the imminent firing -- every single one of them pranged their plane yesterday! :001_th_smiles48:

Getting ready to leave Lady Elliot And we're off! In search of the mainland Final for the refuelling stop at Williamson (YWIS) Done refuelling, and we're off again. Into the Whitsundays Too busy looking at the scenery -- I'm way too high over Hamilton Island, so get ready for a Chop&Drop descent... Fortunately, the TwinPin displays many of the characteristics of a rock when not under power! Final

It's British, and it has a VC. Actually, the plane I wanted to take was the Bristol Freighter, but the only version I could find just had a 2D cockpit, and when your screen is >5000 pixels wide, a 2D panel is simply not a viable option.

Yes it's Orbx. And Hervey Bay is an addon in its own right, with a big chunk of photoreal & water masking (just look at the 'Great Sandy Straight' pic). I think it's an interesting comparison between the default sim, and what it's capable of.

A right photofeast, this one! Leaving Bundy Follow that coast! Approaching Hervey Bay Great Sandy Straight YHBA Turning around the tip of Fraser Island God had a new ruler that day! Approaching Lady Elliot Final... ... and over the threshold
