    PC Tale of Woe

I'm now thinking of this one - less money and X79 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-103-OE&groupid=43&catid=2053&subcat=2175

    PC Tale of Woe

I suspect these deals aren't for everyone but it has very good reviwes and the bonus for me is it's plug n play. Any thoughts or observations I'm looking at the 8GB variant but it has Samsung Green RAM whatever that is? http://www.overclock...U-082-OE&tool=3 Edit 1 I think first one is more realistic but here's another combo http://www.overclock...tid=2053= Edit 2 Might squeeze this one if it was worth it!! http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-115-OE&groupid=43&catid=2053&subcat=

    PC Tale of Woe

That sums it up very well indeed Mike Indeed James - Fried Chicken anybody? In an attempt to move this tale into a positive zone can any of you chaps suggest a real good Mobo, CPU and RAM configuration. I'm not putting a budget on it at present I'll leave that to the wife although at present I'm playing heavily for the sympathy vote and it won't last. I'll then have the small matter of trying recover my data. @James - yes I built my current rig myself but I'm really not brilliant at any of this stuff particularly the software side, in the main putting the physical bits together isn't too

    PC Tale of Woe

Very true Thanks for the update gents, I really appreciate it. However it looks like I may have tinkered too far as today after switching on there was a distinct wiff of smoke and now nothing! There's power to the motherboard but once I try and start nothing other than the case fans attempting to start. I can't think I did anything as I was just re-seating and re-routing cables and such. Anyway it seems that fate has determined I will spend a significant sum of money after all Do you think the mobo might have been fried?

    PC Tale of Woe

Just thought I'd relay my recent problems in the hope of some divine intervention Once upon a time ...... One day totally out of the blue I started experiencing some graphical problems with my PC. These showed themselves in a number of different ways on different occasions, strange vertical lines appeared, blue screens (no error text), black screens (still had sound), black screens with a couple of vertical and a couple of horizontal lines, sometimes the desktop display would shift left by quarter of a screen!! These things would be totally random sometimes with a reboot they would seemi
  7. Oops sorry John should have made that clear - I have both of those and would agree they are essential items. Apologies for the lack of clarity.
  8. I have a reasonably basic set-up with FSX although I do utilise a couple of monitors. I also have Saitek X52 Pro stick for my Warbirds and a Saitek Yoke and throttle quadrant for other flying. I just wondered what additional equipment would be worth the investment for fsx. There isn't a hope of me ever developing a virtual cockpit so I can't get too carried away. Whilst listening to the podcast there was some debate about the Trim Wheel I also recall seeing somewhere on the forum a programmable switch panel for assigning various functions?? Anyway, any thoughts or realistic suggestions
  9. Very nice update Menno. Good to see the business expanding though it will definitely mean more admin time which I know you love Super job on the repaints, I wish I had more time (and knowledge) to do more thorough repaints myself.

  15. Just got caught up with this tale - some great updates - and a large degree of plot thickening by the MAD old Bird. Well Done Brett a very worthy addition to the Air Hauler Tales of the Unexpected - Good job PS Good work too Mike (a special talent)

  21. Hello and welcome to the forum Press Shift + z when in the sim - you can press the same combination a couple of times to display various pieces of information.
  22. Thanks Dai - don't know how I've missed that one - getting old I agree about the DC-6B I bought it a few weeks ago after seeing it recommended here at Mutley's. It's super to fly it's just not an aircraft Buffalo owns so no good for my collection On a separate note you don't happen to know how the Just Flight updates work do you. When I checeked their forum there's s service pack 1 for the DC-3 which I assume I need even if I only bought it in March this year but the DC-6 says I don't need the update for that it's just for Disk owners and to re-download from my products. I'm just s bit con
  23. As a newly addicted Ice Pilots fan I thought I'd try and compile my own virtual collection of aircraft used by Buffalo Airways. So far I've got my Just Flight DC-3, Cal Classics C46 Commando and the Lockheed Electra all with Buffalo liveries. Just wondered if anyone knows where I might find a decent DC-4 freeware or payware - I've found a water bomber DC-4 but not what I was looking for. Also I was after the Buffalo livery for the Beechcarft Baron either Carendo's version or the default FSX version. There's a Buffalo Airways Virtual site but you have to join the VA to get the downloads - no
  24. Nice move mate definitely caught me out with that one. I looked at PAKT when I opened Pitt meadows. Hmm maybe you need some competition up in "them there Fjords" .................. Look out for a SAD neighbour near you some time soon
