  1. They certainly do display - nice photos
  2. I think you've hit on the hub of the issue. People were looking to the future hoping for the next generation flight sim. Unfortunately that hasn't happened and the overriding feeling is probably one of disappointment more than anything else.

    Good aviation books

Not strictly an aviation book but I can highly recommend it as a fantastic read. What the Glider Pilots achieved in this audacious attack is quite remarkable. Pegasus Bridge by Stephen E Ambrose D-Day before dawn. Minute by minute, hour by hour the danger grows...In the early morning hours of June 6, 1944, a small detachment of British airborne troops stormed the German defence forces and paved the way for the Allied invasion of Europe. Pegasus Bridge was the first engagement of D-Day, the turning point of World War II. This gripping account by acclaimed author Stephen E. Ambrose brings to
  4. Thanks Graham You "big brothering" again
  5. Only time will tell - personally i don't think most simmers are tired of that at all. In fact that's what sets simmers aside from gamers. In my experience simmers will happily go to very extreme lengths to obtain the experience they desire. We're all just speculating any way and as with most things in life it will end up where the consumers want it to end up. If Flight doesn't make Microsoft the money it's supposed to then it'll get dropped like a stone and the current team will end up the same as their predecessors. PS I think you may have taken the "Suits" reference a bit too literally -
  6. Does anyone else have this? I'm using Horizon Photo Scenery with UK2000 VFR Airfields and Treescapes all of which I understood to be compatible. I've come across a couple of little errors eg at Carlsile some of teh default scenery seems to leak through. The latest one I found was this at Llanbedr, I don't know if I have something set up wrong or whether there is some problem with compatibility. Any suggestions?
  7. Just a couple of shots from an Air Hauler trip to Wales. The views were great - Horizon Scenery at its best.
  8. I totally agree Mike - it's a business and in business the suits always win - Flight will stand or fall by what the suits want - not what the team want, not what the community want. The suits job is to maximise the profit in as short a period as possible. As I posted elsewhere I really just don't see something which changed tack to move away from simulation towards gaming making an about turn and head back where it started.
  9. One of the biggest downsides of Flight for me is the potential lack of choice moving forward. Even if they address the things which are causing the flight simming community to be so critical (all well documented) it's the locking down of the addons I don't like. I understand why Microsoft would do it - money. However I like choice in life, I like to be able to choose, where to eat, where to drink, where to go etc, etc In FS terms, yes I buy aircraft from A2A, Carenado, I buy scenery from Orbx, Aerosoft, but the key for me is I buy what I like, whether its for the quality or the price. I l
  10. Welcome back Jim - have you finally got all that "tube" nonsense out of your system Must admit I'd like a bigger base to maybe utilise my DC-2 or DC-3 - maybe go Ice Pilots style Nice to see JAD still doing well
  11. Trumpet blowing is good - particularly when you have a real good reason to blow it. Mutley's Hangar is "The Best" flight sim forum and therefore reason enough for a fanfare. Being a relative newcomer I can't thank Joe and the Mutley's Crew enough for the help, advice and above all friendliness shown to all. The best thing I did in 2011 was to make a very minor investment in something called FSX, the second best thing was to find Mutley's Hangar, the rest is history, since that time I've visited the forum on a daily basis (apart from holiday). It provides me with advice, tips, information, h
  12. LOL Graham - can't say you aren't persistent. You really should move into the scrap metal business  Good effort mate - keep at it - how many attempts is that now? I might have a bash in the "Connie" see if I fair any better :D I could see this sort of thing becoming an annual challenge here at Mutley's
  13. This was recorded with FRAPS which over default scenery didn't seem to hit my frames, I then edited it with Sony Vegas, although in this case edit means add logos and music and cut the end off. I did have earlier footage but i just couldn't get the footage into Vegas
  14. Just a few shots of a bit of hauling back home for a change. Shortish flight from EGNC Carlisle down to EGNG Bagby a small grass strip in North Yorkshire. Heading south from Carlisle Cauldron Snout Over Richmond in North Yorkshire home of the Royal Greenjackets On to Catterick garrison RAF Leeming in the background Looking for Bagby which is just south of Thirsk - it's here somewhere. Safely down and first UK delivery made
  15. "SAD Better News" I think SAD is pleased to announce the resumption of flights on both sides of the Atlantic. The CEO has decided to take a break from the cold winters of the Pacific North West and fly over to take in the sunnier climate at Carlisle in teh North west of England!!! There is remaining concern over the computer equipment in use at SAD as no conclusive solution has been found to the PC problems. In a statement SAD said "It was pleased that operations had now resumed and the company had moved to the next phase of their expansion schedule with the purchase of the second Cargomas
  16. Well here's my attempt in the A2A B17 Flying Fortress - I think the saying any landing you walk away from is a good one applies here. A bit of last minute panic
  17. Yeah I was thinking more long term with the DLC though with my download speed (no BT Infinity here yet) it would just be a waste taking MB's off the monthly limit Good point John :D PS the water does look good - shame it's not a submarine or ship game
  18. Thanks for posting Peter although I have to say I was completely disracted from the sea by the awful clouds. The more I see the more I know my money's safe.
  19. Yeah what John says good luck with Air Hauler. As you'll see from this forum there's a few of us who like our hauling Welcome to the forum btw

    BAD or MAD?

Brilliant Mike made me laugh out loud - I had to try and explain the whole Air Hauler storylines but It was wasted on the Mrs. Excellent post mate :thum:
  21. Thanks for the link Joe. In short it can be summarised as we're in the business of making money and don't believe the existing simmers market is a viable proposition to make that money. Therefore we're off to target a more unsuspecting market. Personally I think they're trying to apply a generic gaming model to a subject which is very specialised. My own 16 year old market sampler is about as aware of or excited by Flight as he is about the state of the economy, Good luck turning his head away from the crash bang smash wallop gaming platforms by dropping off someone at a boat party :stars:
  22. Thanks for posting Sam. Nice to see it after all the chit chat. Suppose the key thing it highlights for me is it's clealry a game and not a simulation - nothing wrong with being a game - just disappointing it's not a simulation. Then again we knew that anyway.

    BAD or MAD?

Careful taking your gloves off in the PNW mate you might get a touch of frostbite Nice to see things looking up at MAD - just remember to stay off the fizzy stuff when your flying
