-
well it looks very positive I shall keep a watching brief on how people get on with it, because although i like the rex textures its weather download is slower than watching paint dry, however i believe they are trying to deal with this so shall wait jumping ship until i see what the the latest update gives us

Any Win7 Pro experts out there?
britfrog replied to Quickmarch's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
you dont need to burn ubuntu onto a cd you can put it on a usb memory stick and just tell the boot menu to boot from the usb stick first , at least this is what i do -
First views of FTX England - Goodwood Airfield
britfrog replied to mutley's topic in News and Press Releases
i must admit i am having mixed emotions, as I know Gary and have used his uk2000 product for must be 10 years or more since i flew him around popham, However there is no doubt that this first rendition from ftx is up to what we have come to expect from them,. I suppose they will cherry pick the more popular airports and leave Gary the remnants And i find it difficult that they also want to step on the toes of generation X whose photgraphic scenery I find excellent no doubt they will do a better job if that is possible, however the simming community will be getting a better more realistic s -
what fsx add-on could you not do without
britfrog replied to britfrog's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
like you joe i install this also as a given I also use the aerosoft flightsim commander 9.whatever, I have tried many flight planners some of which make planning just too complicated, and harder work than the products that i used when flying the line, the nice thing about flying the line is much of the planning is done for you by minions you jsut check it for gross error. For the simming that i do , i want the program to give me a realistic routing without too much input and fsc9.? floats my boat and it isnt expensive and not just US orientated. -
Which FSX addon could you do without?
britfrog replied to mutley's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
well i was disappointed with the eaglesoft beechjet, feelthere phenom, flight1 cessna mustang, iris f15, cls b767 and airbuses they have all been deleted and binned. The problem that we have today is after the release of the pmdg ngx, aersoft airbusx, and a few other a/c that dont come to mind at the moment our expectations are much higher than say a year ago so developers like just flight and flight1 , to name a couple, who produce what i will call average products (hopefully Joe wont jump down my throat) no longer cut the mustard for me. Similarly in scenery after ftx entered the market e -
what fsx add-on could you not do without
britfrog replied to britfrog's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
yeah must admit i use that combined with uk2000 airports and airfields -
yeah but it probably wont be released for another year its still in beta, i see they are also talking about essential overdrive now that interests me as i had rex2 with overdrive before deleting it and going with essential, i wonder if we shall have to delete essential and reinstall rex2 with all its bits and pieces then overdrive, omg that will be a pain any thoughts Joe?

what fsx add-on could you not do without
britfrog replied to britfrog's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
yeah rex I go along with and the pmdg ngx, FS2 crew I have but I hardly use it. -
nice to see, i just hope they didnt use any modern glues to stick it together because it will fall into its component parts tout suite.

P.C's like FSX are a very personal thing , everyone has their own ideas of how to do things and what they like to use on an everyday level that makes their usage that bit easier or pleasurable There is a huge amount available for fsx , some programs are huge , some very small, But which add on or add ons do you use in fsx that you simply could not be without and why???

FSX Out of memory issues
britfrog replied to mutley's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
i suffered from this if i used an LOD radius of 8.5 combined with an ftx scenery, with ftx i have to use 4.5, occasionally i may get away with 6.5 once upon a time you could fire up fsx with impunity, now before you start fsx you have to decide whether to use a weather program, then where you want to fly so you then have to decide whether to fire up a ground enhancement program or an airport enhancer, then you have to decide what airports you are likely to use so fire up fsx and load the various scenery regions and airports and then what a/c to fly all i can say is thank goodness we have wi -
here are 2 pics in the same region one from fsx the other google earth the racetrack is Paul Ricard Mr Ecclestones private track next to the airport of le castellet just to give you some idea how good france vfr is
-
yeah i know what you mean however this scenery is France VFr whose work is very good equally as good as the VFR Uk series and their airports are good as well nearly as good as uk2000 they are in the process of bringing out an HD series of land however i still use their older series .

careful there Alan you are giving away state secrets i would expect a tap on the door any moment now! Oh maybe not these are so old they still show runway 05/23 which has long been carved up you are probably alright ) The first time i flew into thiefrow the atc clearances came so thick and fast that although I knew before landing which gate we regularly parked at by the time i had cleared the runway and received clearances into various blocks I hadnt a clue where i was going, luckily my nfo had done it before and told me to ignore any atc transmissions , which i did and we managed to get to

took SWMBO to Venice this week a route I have flown many times, first time in the back, so was enjoying the view and saw this, So came home and repeated the flight plan and saw this, not bad eh? try as i might i couldnt get the window view in pmdg to play ball maybe you guys can help?

well at least it isn t just me, I vaguely recall someone mentioning something about sound problems on the pmdg site soon after the ngx was released i also seem to remember that one of their developers considered it to be a minor irritation and not something that he would lose any sleep over , however i may be imagining this. But there is something ringing a bell and i think one advisor from pmdg suggested changing some settings in one of the cfg files, again i could be dreaming this. What i find strange is that on the headset i get a really good full engine sound in the cockpit whilst on the

Hi Mike thanks for the info i agree there is no substitute for a good set of speakers which is why the speakers i have are these : http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/computer-speakers/altec-lansing-expressionist-ultra-mx6021-review-49305194/ with 200w music sounds awesome on them and great bass as well however i am lead to believe that a dedicated sound card will give better sound than the one on a new motherboard is this so? i think the problem i have may be down to 2 things plugging in the headset after firing up fsx and also some pmdg created anomalies, for example if i sit in the cockpit i can

I have a realtek sound card on my motherboard which gives excellent quality music/sound when combined with my altec lansing top of the range speaker system, however when i "fly" i frequently don a HP headset so as not to disturb swmbo who has her p.c. in the same office and i find that i get excellent sound from the Hp USB headset like the sound of the pmdg ngx engines however the speaker system despite having loads of adjustments does not sound anywhere near as good, also there are some switches when touched in the cockpit make sound on the headset and not on the speakers and vice versa. sim

fsx ends support for FSX
britfrog replied to britfrog's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
As i mentioned on another thread i still hold a hope that M.S. holds the rights to whatever LM creates in the form of P3D and will distribute their version for the entertainment market. What i am more concerned about is the ability to re-validate FSX say in a years time after the next major PC upgrade I would like to think there is some legal jargon somewhere forcing them to enable that to happen for some considerable period of time, however eulas seem to be totally written as a away of allowing them (the developers) to have their cake and eat it as well whilst offering bugger all to the pub
