Which is the most realistic GA aircraft for FSX
britfrog replied to papeg's topic in General Aviation (GA) and Corporate
the main problem with our beloved fsx, or any sim for that matter , it is only as good as the person who has written the program, and 98% of them have never flown a plane. fsx no matter how well you write the a/c cfg is really limited in what you can do , try a stall, it is about as realistic as jordans boobs, but as we dont stall very much we dont come across the problem a lot. I have been lucky in my time to fly a lot of aircraft but to fly an a/c well, you have to fly it by the numbers and ignoring different weights if you know the numbers most small planes fly pretty well the same much a -
this looks like it may be a good addition to my hangar, as a kid growing up in the caribbean they were one of the most popular planes to fly over, they have a very singular noise, and it is a noise, along the lines of, but much louder, than a cessna 337, but like a dc3 once you have heard it you never forget it cus there is nothing the same, you could hear the little buggers from miles away.

i agree that M.S have changed their angle on things, a couple of years ago every game was aimed at the xbox because the pc was dead (how many times have we heard that?) finally they have seen sense and completely done an about face now they are busy porting all their games over to the p.c. because hello the xbox sales have fallen flat but p.c's are being updated to keep up with the times something you cant do with a pitiful xbox, there is someone at m.s that really needs to get his act together have any of you tried the new windows 8? where are they coming from ? this is going to be as popular

thanks for the input guys, i understand the problem of having stuff that one doesnt use as i have some myself sometimes it is either not straight forward to setup or whatever so gets put on the side for another day another try. I am just looking for something to increase the pleasure without increasing the work load.

i am heartened to hear you say that they are reading and taking on what is written on the internet about flight, hopefully some good , in the form of fs11, will come of it ,now that they can see first hand what a faithfull , outspoken, single minded and supportive group of simmers that they, microsoft has created and have to satisfy.

Product Review Carenado PA-46T Malibu JetPROP
britfrog replied to mutley's topic in News and Press Releases
yeah i hear what you are saying but may i put forward these thoughts the tbo on this engine is 3600 hrs the tbo on the original 6 cylinder engine was 2000 hrs the cost of an overhauled 6 cyl engine is anywhere between 15k to 20k however a hot end on a turbine is around 500k , add to this equation that gasoline is now less than twice the cost or parafin where once parafin was less than a third of the cost of gas and all of a sudden a turbine engine raises big question marks despite its undoubtable extra reliability, and extra performance. Now if you could load 6 people , full fuel for 960 mile- 13 replies

good write up! i also am a recent convert to the virtual cockpit! however the malibu is a particularly useless plane in real life. a great looker, a real sporty plane, however when you get down to the nitty gritty, you can only load full fuel when you have 2 people on board ( taking people at 170 lbs each), if you want to carry 6 people which is after all why one buys a 6 seater you can only load enough fuel for just over an hours flying , and no baggage for a weekend away, not that good eh? give me an aztec or navajo any day.- 13 replies

if i can make a few factual observations without starting a war, 1) my plane would not fly hands off it always slowly tuned to the left and there is no way of calibrating the joystick (that I could find) 2) the airspeed indicated on the guages at the top of the page did not match that indicated on the guages in the stearman , which initially one couldnt see at all, but by pressing L (good old fsx) they lit up there was at time as much as 18mph difference between the 2 sets of guages 3)at one point I headed south to try to climb above some clouds along the coast, to see how things looked fro

actually i did see something positive, the portrayl of fog was much better than anything in fsx, quite realistic to fly through too especially at low heights

well the download and installation went well i got it at 11am eurotime as i cant say anything positive about it, i shall refrain from making any comment at all , needless to say at 3.30 this afternoon it was deleted, such a shame.

Howabout this for a kids bedroom?

such a pity the kid wants to be a submariner!! -
I think the nannies at avsim need to look up the definition of forum. Forums were created by the romans where people on any side of an argument could air their views, however vehremently they felt or how they were shouted down forums are designed to be places where heated discussion can take place because it doesnt go any further than the forum, if the avsim aunties cant handle a forum they should call it something else like aunties meeting house.

when i were a lad (as the saying goes ) we lived in the bahamas and used to come back to the uk for a holiday i have many memories of flying from london to shannon to goose bay or gander then new york then Nassau. we rarely arrived at NY with all 4 engines running !my father being a pilot for BOAC would simply disappear downstairs to the bar where he would hold court and mum and i would have to sit upstairs. however there was one bright side they had beds at the forward end they looked like a bread bin with a curtain so i would be put to bed there. this sim has rekindled those memories, it is

There is a way of doing what you suggest for FSX stuff mate, was reading about it the other night. But yeah, these new VFR photo scenery add-ons take up a lot of space and managing, I should be receiving the VFR Scottiish South vol 8 scenery tomorrow if our Postie does his job, so I'm on my FSX PC doing some maintenance and looking at available HD space for its 55 GB needed space and where I will install it. As an example, this is what I do ... I have Win 7 64 OS on one SSD (60GB OCz Agility 3) my main FSX drive I treated myself to a pretty expensive OCz Vertex 3 240 GB, looking at my curren

Further heart problems ! I just dont need this !

Buy a motorbike and ride it around town, that will bring your heartrate back up , no problem, either that or take up bungy jumping, you will have the quacks guessing how you fixed your self -
cant say i agree with narsasuaq or courcheval being difficult , i have flown into both of them in real life and didnt see any problems. narsasuaq is interesting as you have to find the right fjord entrance from the Atlantic ocean, to follow the fjord to the airfield some 100 miles up the valley , it gets interesting as the fjord splits some distance from the coast and the clouds are usually on the hill tops so the only way of ID,ing the right fjord is that there is a wrecked freighter near the split and you take the fjord with the freighter, i did this ferrying a mooney from lauderdale to the

i hope i am not repeating a prior topic but i used the search engine and it didnt come up with anything. for those that missed it you can get 3 free mcphat repaints of the pmdg 737 ngx you have to watch a video on you tube , get a code which appears on the video, then go to mcphat download the a/c and put in the code simples! the 3 a/c available are ryanscare dreamliner paint schene plus american airlines and a classic american airlines scheme. As i understand it pmdg and mcphat had a falling out no doubt one of the reasons the sdk is taking so long to come out.

Just had a look at my hard drive and i only have 83gb avail, jeez the thought of buying a larger 2tb drive then going through all the palaver of reinstalling windows followed by 4 days of reinstalling fsx and all its add ons just gives me the hump , why cant we just copy and paste the whole caboodle from one drive to another???????????????

Interestingly in doing my review of the the A2A B377 COTS I stress tested the hell out of it at KSEA with full REX2, ORBX stuff, and 100% Ultimate Traffic 2 on my modest system with nary a stutter, hitch, burp, or anything else. Ditto on VATSIM out of Boston and Heathrow. And when I load up a simple Aerosoft Twin Otter, Carenado C208, or even the oldie but goodie Aerosoft Beaver X I actually get some annoying hiccups for a roughly 100nm radius around KSEA. Go figure. While I have not had the opportunity to play with the PMDG NGX (yet)....the whole concept of running the aircraft external t
