Dovetail Flight School Released!
stu7708 replied to mutley's topic in Dovetail Games' Flight Sim World (FSW)
I'll just re-post the thoughts I added to Joe's post on facebook here as well.. The comments on the Steam Forums looks mostly like they had to high expectations on what the product would offer. Firstly I can't understand the demand for commercial jets and third party add-ons.. DTG have been pretty straight forward with the fact that Flight School would be focused on GA, and that it would be an entry level Sim aimed at newcomers with no 3rd party support, if one took the time to actually take in the information. Secondly, you get a sim with FTX Global Base as the foundation for -
Interestingly, the clouds in the preview shots Joe posted earlier doesn't look as bad.. I wonder if it's the textures for a specific cloud type that are lacking in quality rather than them being generally bad.

Aha.. found the manual, and TrackIR should be supported out of the box!!
-
Hmm.. I wonder if it supports TrackIR yet.. Must start downloading it soon I guess, but that's going to take it's sweet time on my connection... As Loic said, it looks great if one avoids looking to closely on the coulds...

So, what are you going to do with that 4K screen of yours if you do buy three of those curved things??
-
Love the roar of those engines, and as you day they are much easier on the ears than those on an Islander.. Really messed up my first landing though.. Managed to run of the end of a 3.000 foot runway...
-
Darn it Matt, you've tempted me to the point where I couldn't resist buying this "little" gem... Installing in a sec...
-
-
Well, you are correct in that they usually go hand in hand... it's just that the FPS counter in FSX is kind wonky and not very reliable...
-
Thanks for the feedback Matt... it didn't make it any less tempting.. @mutley Stop trying to pass off photos for screenshots boss
-
Looks stunning this one, and your shots really do it justice! What's the short field performance like?? From what I've gathered it's based on a model with Piston Engines, so no thrust reversers I assume..... Could one get it into or out of one of the smaller grass/gravel strips around Friday Harbour?

Dovetail Games Flight School New Preview Shots
stu7708 replied to mutley's topic in News and Press Releases
Interesting though.. it does mean that there could be backward compatibility with FSX/P3D-addons once the full fledge version comes out... Are there Exe.xml and dll.xml files in place in the usual location as well? -
Dovetail Games Flight School New Preview Shots

Looks darn good, and considering the price tag I think this will end up on my machine if only to support DTG in going forward.. Are there any support for Saitek panels at this point?? -
This might be a hint... Wasn't TileProxy some sort of project that injected "scenery" from google earth or other online photo sources??
-
I'll just point you in the right direction and let Joe do the telling (didn't realize that post was THAT old, sometimes my memory clings on to the darnedest things)

Great shots Kieran!! I assume the destination for that DAT ATR72 was Billund/Legoland based on the name
-
Froogle did a review of it a couple of months ago.. but I think he skipped testing it in FSX..
-
Wow.. that were some stunning shots of Paris, and I'm duly impressed that you didn't snag one of the lines when passing through the Arc de Triomphe Now I'm off to get that final PIREP video finished.. still have some polishing to do on it!!

Leg 68: LeVersoud (LFLG) - Bretigny-Sur-Orge (LFPY)

After that tidbit of information I'm not sure I even should give you the benefit of a reply Good Job Matt, really enjoyed the flight, and some stunning shots thrown in there!! -
Man, that thing looks fast!! Great little plane to throw around the skies I'd say.. Looking forward to your continued flight!
-
Great shots and story Steph... A very scenic route.. I must confess I was a tad worried when I saw the inclusion of Interlaken in your flight plan.. others on this forum have had some bad experiences there in the past.. right Joe!!
-
Great shots from that short-ish leg Jess! I've been thinking about a flight in that corner of the world, and these shots makes it even more tempting... @brett: That scrolling is now sorted thanks to the forum upgrade
-
Good job getting us there Brian, and apologies for the confusion with the destination (for once I must give you credit for spotting an issue before it caused a problem ) Love the shots, and your subtle edits, although I doubt that handbag actually belongs to Jess (although she might have borrowed it from Lynda )

Bad FSX SE Performance on a $1300 PC
stu7708 replied to H0r1z0nFSX's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
Have you changed the installation path for Steam or is it installed in C:\program files ? Since windows limits the possibilities for programs to write in folders located here it's a big no no to install the boxed version of FSX in this location if using Windows Vista or newer, and I assume it's the same for FSX:SE.. If Steam, and thus you installation of FSX:SE, is in program files try creating a new Steam library (most likely found under Settings-Downloads, I'm running Steam in Swedish so I have to guess on the translation).. At the top of that settings-section in Steam there should b
