Another emergency - and I thought I was being so clever...... After reading Rob's request to take some tea to Lessay (LFOM), and to pick up a cargo of magazines, it seemed a good idea to use the old Caravan that I'd just repainted for the job. Here she is - all shiny and, er, new-ish..... Easy does it, past the international terminal - no-one awake yet, it's early..... Past my paint shop..... And we're rolling....... Rotate! I say to myself..... Nice view of the new Hangar at EGHI.... Say goodbye to Southampton..... That's the Needles - must be high tide..... Tur

ddavid replied to rob16584's topic in Around The World Challenge II (ATWC 2)
Da iawn, Rob - well done, mate - an excellent final leg - loved the moff! :nea: Sorry I've not posted before - been trying to finish a new livery for you (see PM). Cheers - Dai. -
I'm a no guru - sorry! But do the crashes only happen in AH? I say this because my FSX system was more prone to crash when flying a job - know what I mean? :nea: Cheers - Dai.

Found some new info on the Vorona Aviation forum - have a look here for some very interesting facts from World War Two. Cheers - Dai.

Sorry, John - I've confused you - the pic is from the Catalina Day Spa mission, and not Telluride Landing. In the former, the Caravan's engine packs up (fuel leak?) and, if you can't reach Santa Monica (by gaining as much altitude after take off as you can and then glide), your only alternative is to land on the conveniently located carrier - despite being told not to!! And, yes, landing on the deck without power - or a tail hook, for that matter - isn't as easy as I've made it look! Cheers - Dai. -

Well, thanks very much for your kind comments, guys! I'm really chuffed (choughed?) at winning - especially against such excellent competition - after a lot of attempts I seem to have clicked the right buttons! The Sopwith Camel is by David Eckert and can be found here on the FlightSim.com website - search for the following files: FS2004: camel04.zip and FSX: b6291fsx.zip. I had to edit the FSX texture to get Major Barker's Camel - if you're interested then PM me for the file. The Barker Camel texture comes with the FS2004 download. Again, thanks for your supportiv -
Finished July: Magnificent Men in their flying machines!

Here's 2 late entries from me - tried to get the Magnificent Men as well as their Machines! The first is one you all know - yes, the Red Baron himself - Baron Rittmeister Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen. Here he is flying his Fokker DR 1 'tri-plane' over the trenches at Verdun. And next, the Red Baron's nemesis - he was shot down by Canadian pilot, Captain A.R. Brown, in a Sopwith Camel. Here's the machine as flown by the Canadian Ace, Major William George Barker, VC., with his special pierced heart emblem on the tail. No edits, just a couple of tweaks on the textures with PhotoShop - -
Nice vid, Boss - but you really must get a tripod for those long shots!! BTW, Rob - I must check The Millenium Club out - have you got a link, please? Cheers - Dai.

Magic stuff, Joe - you've certainly got the knack! BTW, are you using a quad processr for this video work now? Cheers - Dai.

Welcome to the mad-house, John! Great set of screen-shots on your other post - thanks for sharing - now we know where your coming from. Cheers - Dai.

I've just re-read Chan's 'bio' in your Gosport newsletter - he sounded like a good guy and his experiences at 9-Mile would have kept me interested for a long time. I guess you'll miss him - and his sense of humour, too! Best wishes - Dai.

Thank heavens - and Well Done to all those who have managed to rescue the AVSIM library! :great: Now, where was that Wallace bi-plane..... Cheers - Dai.

Hi, Cap - I'm not an FS9 expert, but I think you need to save the plan as a .PLN file in your My DocumentsFlight Simulator Files folder. Maybe one of the true gurus will advise...... :great: Cheers - Dai.

A rare photo' indeed, John - from, I think, Stage 5, which was a team time trial stage, so you won't see the yellow jersey....... :shrug_no: Nice one, mate - and thanks for the HU on the tour - brilliant sport! heers - Dai.

Dear Sir, I have taken my medicine - at least my apothecary tells me I have - and would offer the following suggestion, in respect of your request for information concerning, what appears, at first sight, to be a close up, albeit diagrammatically oriented, of the under-carriage of a de Havilland DH 82 Tiger Moth. Lastly, I must apologise for my rather unkempt previous offering. Wishing you a very good day, I remain, Yours faithfully, D. David.
