Diolch yn fawr, Joe! Iecchi dda - Daffydd. :oer:

I reckon there's life in the old 135/707 yet - the RAF are using the Sentry and so is NATO ,(O.K. different engines.....) - long live (the original) dash-80, eh? Cheers - Dai.

Once is enough - Materhorn it is! A photographic scenery tile from Frank as a taster for his (payware) Northern Italy photo-scenery. Thanks - Dai.

It's so quiet around here - Has Joe gone already........?? Anyway, to break the silence, here's a picture for you: JUST NAME THE MOUNTAIN!! or post something interesting!! Cheers - Dai. : :dance2:

Some quick conclusiojns: A) This GtL fuel may be a step in the right direction in terms of efficiency - if it is to be used only for long haul 'jumbos' then we'll benefit when we need to move bodies around the globe (for whatever reason....) and reduced pollution (less sulphur etc) - however, you've still got to have a pretty good reason for going in the first place; :dance2: Prioritising between electrical generation and jet fuel is going to be a political decision - but the politicians ain't going to want to get cold, either; C) The main advanatage of bio-fuel is as a substitute energy so

Picked this up in the IET monthly: I guess we'll have to start growing bio-mass now......... Cheers - Dai.

Leg 100: Porto (LPPR) - Zaragoza (LEZG)
ddavid replied to Martyn's topic in Around The World Challenge (ATWC)
And for my next trick.......! Seriously, well done Martyn - pulled that landing right out of the bag. I, too, will be interested in the FSX version. Thanks for making the ATWC Century! Cheers - Dai. -
Well, that would certainly solve some of my problems (Just some? Ed!) Cheers - Dai.

I thought so too, John - but look here: http://jp.dk/uknews/article1277616.ece Wouldn't like to be too close, though.... Cheers - Dai.

Grrrrr.... Snffffl.....Wooooff....Grrrr.... Which translated means: 'ere - where' the dawg gorn, then, eh? Cheers - Dog Lover. :tattle:

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm as p*ssed off as you all are about flaunting airport security (especially as the last time I went by Eurostar - the train - I had to take my shoes off!) - you've got to hand it to these 'guys' (at least 2 were gurls!) for getting onto the tarmac in the first place. Did they pose as bona-fide workers - were they employed temporarily by contractors, etc etc?? They clearly didn't just drive onto the field (did they?!?) And, anyway, the question is...... Should we have another runway at Heathrow? C'mon - lets talk about that, rather than slagging off Greenpeace or e

Now, if that had been a Mk3 Avro Lancaster at an air-show, everyone would have gone wild! There's no justice, is there? Mind you, this story puts the pilot in a slightly different light - and has some excellent photo's of the fly past at 30' (thirty feet). Thanks for the HU, Simon. Cheers - Dai. :tattle:

Pilot and passenger walk away from wrecked Cessna 172 in Folkstone garden: See the write up here:http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2008/feb/25/5/print I loved the 'Chelsea Flower Show' comment! They were lucky, eh? Cheers - Dai.

Talking of Mk 3 Lancasters - here's one, over Ladybower Reservoir, practicing with an Upkeep.... Not the National Archives, really! Cheers - Dai.

Before Panos starts shouting (!) - Bruce Dickinson (from Iron Maiden), is the pilot, whereas Robert Plant lives up in mid Wales, just a couple of miles from our cottage near Cadair Idris. I think he uses a bike, too! Pam's seen him in the local organic shop (Yawn - Ed!) Cheers - Dai.

Check this out - a sonar based 'picture' of the last known Mark 1 Short Sunderland, which sank at it's moorings in Milford Haven in 1940: You can just make out the propellor on the number 1 engine! Here's what the local paper, The Western Telegraph, said: If they do resurrect the old Stickleback, then drinks are on me! Cheers - Dai.
-
You'll just have to be a bit more careful landing and taking off, Panos! And, sorry, I can't put my finger on it either. I guess, as Joe says, you will have to look closely at recently installed downloads. Keep us informed - and put up some 'interesting' screen shots! Cheers - Dai.
-
Excellent set, Joe - I think I saw a couple of these at Tangmere - thanks for putting them up. Hey, Kieran, I think you're right, the Lanc and the Halifax are very similar. Here's a Halifax: And the accompanying text: The above from http://homepage.eircom.net/~steven/ukaf.htm Anyway, thanks for the memories, eh? Cheers - Dai.

Whey-Hey-Hey - Panos! That take off was straight out of 'The Dam Busters'! Were you carrying gold bullion in the hold? Good collection of shots and, as John says, they come with your own style. Funnily enough, this is the only ATWC, so far, that I've been (physically) to both airports. You have to walk/drive across the runway at Gib when coming in from Spain and I went on holiday to Oporto in, wait for it, 1960. Yeah, I remember the sixties....... Thanks for sharing - cheers - Dai.

Like this big? This pic from:http://gizmodo.com/352914/worlds-largest-wind-turbine-powers-5000-homes-is-very-big Wish we had the space for one! Cheers - Dai.

This plane - Boeing 720-022 (N7224U) - was used by the Bee-Gees two years later for their 1979 tour! Rock on, Steve. Mind you, I preferred Rolf Harris's version....... Cheers - Dai.

I asked our postman if he saw the sunrise. He'd actually seen a glow in the west, after sunset - so I took one tonight. It's rather blurry (just can't get the staff, you know!): Quite cold, but no 'ice ring' round the moon, yet. Cheers - Dai. :cold:

Mutley's in the front pages again!
ddavid replied to mutley's topic in Mutley's Hangar News and Announcements
Excellent, Joe - well done indeed! You do have a way of staying ahead of the game, mate - I'm proud to be a Fellow Hangarian, for sure! Cheers - Dai.
