Leg 90:Larnaca[LCLK], Cyprus to Athens Intl [LGAV]
ddavid replied to A320cap's topic in Around The World Challenge (ATWC)
Now that, my dear Panos, was a leg-and-a-half! And the video to go with it - eleven marks out of ten for that - a really fine contribution - thanks for sharing! Can't wait for the leg into Oporto - I was your age when I went there last. (Nah, they hadn't invented airplanes then, Ed!) Cheers - Dai. :mrhappy: -
Leg 89 : Alexandria, Egypt HEAX to Larnaca, Cyprus LCLK
ddavid replied to reef's topic in Around The World Challenge (ATWC)
Thanks for that, Steve - how you managed all that so quickly beats me! And, feel the quality, eh? Brill - but are you sure your shot of 'the foothills of the Troodos Mountains' isn't actually Cardigan Bay!?! Pam and I go up the coast road to Aberystwyth very regularly, and this view reminds me so much of the coast-line north of RAF Aberporth.... Nuff said - thanks for sharing, mate! Cheers - Dai. :mrhappy: -
The B-707 is from the Historic Jetliners Group website, here; http://www.simviation.com/hjg/main.htm Just follow the download link to the desired A/C. Most models fly O.K. in FSX, even though they're mostly FS2004, but be careful with the panels, they can be tricky.... And thanks again for your comments. Cheers - Dai. :mrhappy:

This man was my hero - not only because he 'knocked off' Everest, but he was the personification of integrity in all he achieved. I first came across him in the Eagle comic and annual, and subsequently Hunt's book on the expedition. But what I remember him best for was getting those 'modified' Red Fergies to the South Pole. They were basic tractors (we used to have an MF-35 too) with a track-laying additional bogey-axle in front of the rear wheel. And, in true style, Sir E. got right up Sir Vivian Fuchs's nose by getting to the S. Pole first, and not delaying so that the two parties could arri

Excellent vid on Simtube..... Picked this up from Horizon last night: http://www.simtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=c14a6e70a12f74560c02 It's amazing what you can do with the right kit and the time! Also, Horizon are looking for budding film makers: http://www.horizonsimulation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=2031&highlight= But, after your JF efforts, I think you'd have to do it anonymously, Joe!! Cheers - Dai. :mrhappy:

Cardiff Airport (EGFF) scenery for FSX You may have seen (over the Horizon) that Terry Shields has produced FSX scenery for Cardiff (Wales) Airport - EGFF, together with nearby RAF St Athans. Here are some screen shots with my current favourite. Waiting for clearance: Rolling: Take off: And approaching RAF St Athans (about 5 klicks west): The scenery is available on AVSIM, here: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=egff+fsx&CatID=root look for egff_for_fsx.zip. You really need the photographic scenery for the best results. IMHO it's v. good - but then I'm a val

Leg 88 - Khartoum, Sudan (HSSS) to Alexandria, Egypt (HEAX) Welcome, one and all, to the final Leg of the African Adventure phase of Mutley's ATWC! Again, we travel back in time, to those halcyon days of yore, when Imperial Airways ruled the waves with their flying boats: We'll be flying from the sweltering banks of the White Nile, at Khartoum (Sudan) to the sunny shores of the Mediterranean Sea at Alexandria (Egypt) following a slightly modified Imperial Airways route: We'll be stopping briefly at Wadi Halfa, on Lake Nasser, and continue across south eastern Egypt, to the Red Sea.

ddavid replied to reef's topic in Around The World Challenge (ATWC)
Nawr te, Boyce, ble mae'r Baton, eh? Oops - sorry, lapsed into the local dialect! Magic carpet treatment just right for this part of the world - and, yes, I've noticed the abundance of sand around here. BTW, loved the polish on your A/C - makes it look really special - thanks for getting the baton safely to Khartoum. Oh yes, did you notice the Blue Nile when you came down, 'cause it's missing in FSX!!! Cheers - Dai. -

No problem for me, Steve - take your time and enjoy!! Cheers - Dai. p.s. The White Nile's lovely by moonlight....... :eyebrow: -
Thanks, Theo - you have a good one too! As for resolutions, well they're all right in their way, but it's sticking to them, that's the problem! Me, I'd like to get fitter and slimmer (and younger, eh? - Ed) - but we'll see... Cheers - Dai. :cool:l

Another year, eh John?!? Have a good one, mate - and Season's best to you and Pam and family. :eyebrow: Cheers - Dai.

Greetings, Fellow Hangarians! As we will be away for the next couple of days at our daughter's (in a totally unpronouncable place in Wales), may I wish you all the best for Christmas. Can I also thank Joe and the Moderators (sounds like a sixties R&B group...) for their grand work in keeping the Hangar in such fine fettle - certainly my favourite destination in the FSIM world! Keep it up lads - it's much appreciated. Nadolig Llawen - Dai. :eyebrow:
-
Sch-yeah!! Glad you spotted the deliberate mistake, Theo!! I'm still trying to shoe-horn FS2004 into our PC - I'll post some black and whites soon........ Cheers - Dai. :eyebrow:

Can't wait for your screen-shots, John!?! Interesting historical info - thanks for digging it up and sharing. Cheers - Dai. :eyebrow:

Horizon are almost there with their Inland Water and Night Lighting, see: http://www.horizonsimulation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1985 I've installed the Night Lighting demo - I grew up in the Smoke, so I wanted to see how things have changed, and, by golly, they have!! Here are a few, rather dark (!) screen-shots - Taking off from City (this was a real dock when I were a lad...) Approaching the demo area around London, Heathrow: Heathrow ahead and the North Circular below (easy to recognise in the dark): Here's the east edge of the demo area: Don't fancy this farmer's chances
