  1. Britfrog, To me it looks like a "better sell something than nothing" program, which is ok, I just dont like their marketing which IMHO is a big bluff. UKJim, Fair enough. there is a freware cloudtexture set called HDE that upgrades all cloudtextures and not just the 1 cumulus texture that rex soft cloud does It also upgrades sky colors and other stuff.. You can use the 2 together. Remember to backup your texture folder Christoffer, I doubt that the Rex soft clouds (RSC) will change your flat bottom clouds. As i wrote, its only 1 cloud textures out of I dont know how many (many) that i
  2. I bought Rex soft clouds and installed it. Its a small and cheap program, so I didnt expect to much. But I didnt expect so little. The program installs itself into the C drive. In the install folder there are 16 different texture sets. Or better said 4 x 1 texture. Each of the 16 folders has 4 subfolders with a cumulus texture for fsx high and low quality and P3D high and low quality. A total of 4 different versions of the same cloud texture called cumulus01. When starting Rex soft Clouds, you have 16 different pictures or 16 different options to install. Each option installs ONE texture
  3. Did you have FTX Norway installed or "just" the global package. With the Global package global/vector/openLC there are few problems. FTX Global/vector/openlc lets scenery entries stay above them, whereas the regions reinstall themselves above everything else everythime they are being set in the FTX central. I´m curious to know on how an addon like this one works with FTX Norway region installed. Also to know how well this FTX insertion tool works with other devellopers addons.
  4. Very nice review of an interesting place. I´ve always liked Aerosofts scenery addons. They are normally well done, well tested. Tromsö is a special place. It may be the warmest arctical city because it lies where the gulfstream ends its way north and turns around, so for its place its not that cold. I looked around a bit. It can be bought at Simmarket, Justflight and maybe others, but I couldnt find it in the Aerosoft shop. The other Norwegian addons are there. So a question. In order to make it work with ORBX Norway, do you have to use the FTX insertion tool or isnt that nescessay. Orbx n
  5. You may be right. I have never tried FSX on a modern top computer. When it came out it was a bad experience. P3D is very good, very stable, looks good etc. But 4 -5 updates a year is way to much and it gets stressy. I like flying and installing things here and there. I hate reinstalling a big bunch of software. In order to do it right, you need to test every install, and then it ends up being like going to work. IMHO, it works well the way it is now. So maybe it would be better if LM concentrated on a v3 64 bit version and took the time it takes. I hope that I wont need this new update o
  6. I dont think its specially good news if we need to do a fresh reinstall. I have v2.4 running without any problems and I´m not in the mood for reinstalling everything. I´m in the mood for flying. I´ve read what is changed/fixed and I cant see that I need any of it, but maybe I´m blind. If at the same time some programs might for some reason not install, then its a no-do. I will be conservative and see what others say. I dont know, but personally, I find that all these constant updates have a bad side as well.
  7. Or to create more turbulence when the wind comes from that side. makes for more fun. Nothing like turbulence from a high building or a rock to get you down on the runway if you are approaching a little high.
  8. I´m waiting for this one and would like to know if anyone here has heard some news about it. Release date etc. Also, on the Justflight website, it says FSX and nothing about P3D. I hope thats wrong, but if it isnt, then I´ll have to look for something else.
  9. I think its genious. I like recykling. I´m impressed that they found a T34 in working order (According to tank freaks, the best military tank ever built.) and that the tank is still there after shooting 8000 gallons of water a minute at 770 mph.
  10. It would be very nice if it was allowed to disagree with A Goddens Aircraft reviews on this forum. As it is now, its Tabu. Its not allowed to say anything critical about an aircraft addon which Andrew has reviewed. If you do so, be sure that he will jump out of his chair, write a long post, only with the intention of making you shut up. He will never be interested in going into some kind of dialogue with you. It has happened quite a few times now. This last one is the best example. Someone with a lot more experience in the aircraft jumps in and is being talked down inmediately. I have a few
  11. I actually like this AC, but I follow your thoughts. I also installed it, and thought, oh - no, yet another one, but since its used in Ravn virtual, I´ve flown it quite a lot later on. It reminds me a lot of the FS9 C206 It doesnt feel like a C172 or C182 IMO. It feels heavyer. And it falls like a heavy stone if you land it like a C172. I have started landing it with around 75 - 80 knots depending on wind, 2 notches of flap, full prop and a good deal of manifold pressure. Then it lands heavy but controlable. BTW, I mostly fly it pretty heavy. 6 small passengers, a bit of luggage in the f
  12. JG. I agree. It is confusing. I´m interested in the product, but untill I find out what exactly it is, I wait. Maybe its the kind of program that I like. Some HQ textures that you install into your texture folder, start your real weather engine and of we go?? Letting the Real weather put things where they are supposed to be and the textures make it look right? The freeware textures that I´m using now, more or less do that, so maybe I should just forget about this addon and do some flying.
  13. Without having tested myself, I imagine that now you can get better AND softer clouds... There are many flightsim products that confuses me as well (incl. REX). And a lot of confusing manuals that comes with them. And some EULA stuff as well.. Confusing. Just read some P3D thread. So, does anyone know if this addon is supposed to work with other REX addons or if its a texture set that enhances default clouds?
  14. Britfrog, I´m not to sure I agree. P3Dv3 is going to be a very big change when it comes to addons. Just look at how long ORBX have taken with new installers to v2. V3 could mean that we have to buy everything from scratch because nothing will work properly in a new 64bit environment..... I might be the last to update to v3. It might end up being a VERY expensive one. And remember that one money ($,€ etc.) has diffenet value in different places on earth. On the other hand, I know that a 64bit core will also open new horizons. But do I need that? Its the dilemma: where is the limit betwee
  15. I took a flight from Almeria to Granada in summer and it looked like a desert which is correct
  16. downloading. Havent tried it yet. Here´s the link: http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/90025-ftx-openlc-eu-110-update/ Maybe they will finish OpenLC NA one day?
  17. No more vertical and spinning clouds: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum-5/topic/fix-for-cloud-issues-in-2-4/
  18. Fly over land or look less at the water.... P3D is a weird thing. I like it a lot, but in many aspects its a bit dead. The freeware is more or less non existant, so we use FSX even though we are told that is very wrong and could "kill" our sim. The devellopers can be slow with P3Dv2 updates. Just look at ORBX airports. Sometimes I have a feeling that some develloppers would have prefered that P3D did not exist. I cant really compare to FSX, because I got it when it came out. It caused a lot of problems. I ended up flying less and less and took a very long break from flight simming (years
  19. Just one more off topic thing. Airlines PNG actually flew both BN2-Islanders and Twin otters. The BN2 is a while back, so I´ll just turn back time and jump into a BN2 which is such a great simulation. There´s a wonderfull video of a PNG bush landing with a BN2 here: (I had the same kind of real weather there yeasterday. Scary) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2J3P8_CQwJE
  20. Yeah, I can imagine that the population is getting to dense for smaller aircraft, but I can always let my imagination rule. Reality can be so rough. BTW, sorry to change the subject from beautifull, clean, fresh and rugged Norway where population is by no means very dense.
  21. Stu, you are totally right. Santa came early this year and he brought me Jackson. I´ve just had my first flight around in my Pacer. Very nice indeed, and I found that Emo Mission. I have to study the place a bit. What aircraft do they use for the larger trips from Jackson to the north part and to the Islands. I can imagine something like BN2 Islander, Twin Otter or maybe C208 Gran Caravan.
