  1. April is a great time for flying in Alaska, as the melting going on in many places, brings the scenery to life. The clips were taken on a flight from Cordova Muni to Lake Hood Strip by the "Scenic Route" in late April. The video runs for fifteen minutes and is best viewed with the Quality clicked up to 1080p and the Full Screen icon at bottom right corner clicked. Thanks for looking
  2. Situk is a part of the McLeland Field complex and I was wondering how it was going to fare with SAK being thrust underneath it...As it happens it is looking good:- Situk is the home of the "Taildraggers Club" and normally three WACO's... ...use these tiedowns. The tiedowns are mine; as is the building under my left wingtip and the french looking tower...The other two buildings are part of SAK. The building behind the prop and the flag pole and waving stars and stripes are also SAK. The two small huts in the distance, with smoking chimneys, are also SAK... an
  3. I started from Juneau SPB and here are a few shots:- Thanks for looking
  4. Well the one we saw was old but not as old as 1913...I would say it was from the 1930s...Of course it was blue and absolutely beautiful
  5. Thanks Brett and Mike...I also saw a very lovely motor car that day...It came driving in past my friend Dinga Bell and myself and we both stopped to gawp...I was an exquisite blue Bugatti. We were both so engrossed with the sight, sound and smell that neither of us thought to take a picture!
  6. Thank you Alan...I thought you might like those
  7. Thanks for the comments Gents...Alan, you might like this slideshow that I made when I was last there in real life:- http://www.petermcleland.com/HunterReunion
  8. Very nice shots and brought back a few memories...I was stationed at Pembrey briefly from Jan to Jun 1957...In those days it was called No. 233 O.C.U. and we had Vampire 5s and Hunter F1s...I was the Wing Weapons Officer and flew both types...Happy Days!
  9. Here is my second attempt after removing conflicting scenery. ORBX's Old Warden:- Thanks for looking
  10. Post deleted as there was an opposing Old Warden installed and it caused problems with the ORBX scenery.
  11. Yes the ranch is a work in progress and when I have finished it I will build another in the ravine but on the other side of the water. All the components of the ranch are from ORBX libraries and all the animations and sounds work. Thanks Clem, I will look at the optimisers
  12. Well I'm running it in P3D but I think the start looks and sounds pretty realistic...Here is an answer that I gave about the aircraft on another forum:- Well there is a 142 page main handbook plus several other docs to read and the system is very modern and has a steep learning curve. Practically all the systems seem to be simulated but it would take a long time to learn how to properly exploit these systems. The aircraft is resource hungry and you can expect frame rates of a about half as many as you would get with say the C206G Amphibian that I am using in P3D at the moment. This mean
  13. I took some pictures of this very powerful aeroplane today:- Yakutat take-off ... ...with a... ...retraction roll. Fast run back... ...over... ...the airport. Over Turf Green in the McLeland Field complex now... ...at the Ranch that I am making from the ORBX Library. On down the ravine now... ...approaching the closed end and... ...pushing up to... ...escape. Back over the Ranch and... ...turning hard to reduce speed for the approach to... ...land at base... down the taxiway. BTW...You need airbrake
  14. I moved my anchorage over to Whangamumu today:- March,...Yes I can see how very protected it is...I must put a few yachts in here!
  15. Nice looking yacht March...I have always rather admired the cutter rig and I imagine she goes very well to windward with that. Our last sailing yacht was a "Freedom 35" and I really enjoyed cruising the Biscay area in her...She was called "Lazy May"
  16. Thanks March, I think before I go further North, I will pop into Whangamumu Harbour and see if the old whaling station is present...Anyway, it looks a good spot to stay a day or two. I notice there is a line of reefs outside the entrance...I might just land inside those to avoid taxying into them Peter.
  17. I was asked by March over at Mutley's to do a photo pass over the Opua Marina when I got up to the Bay of Islands...Well now I am in the BOI and was also embarrassed to realise that the beach where I am parked is on the wrong island. I soon realised after I looked around that the island was too small to be Urupukapuka...So today I have relocated, but on the way I did do a couple of photo passes over Opua Marina, as requested:- Here is the marina at Opua. There also seem to be many anchorages but the water looks a bit rough at the moment and I think they may be a bit uncomfortable.
  18. March...I am now posting in the Hangar Forums Screenshots section and have put your Opua pictures there
  19. Continuing my tour of NZ North Island, todays leg was from the beach in the harbour where I parked to an island called Urapukapuka in the Bay of Islands, not far from Russell. Here is a sequence of pictures that I took along the way:- Here is where I was parked on the beach. Launching off the beach and about to retract the gear. Taxying out on the step to get sufficient clear run into wind for take-off. Unsticking and... ...away... ...from Whangururu Harbour and... ...on course to... ...pick up the road to Russell. The road is pretty rough
  20. March, There are about three shots in my earlier post called "Final Choice..." which show the Ferry Terminal more completely. Yes, I will look for the Opua Marina in BOI and will get a screenshot of it. Thanks Gents for your kind comments
  21. That's OK Joe...I'm just flying using a map and want to visit many of the places I have been to on the ground, so airfields and flight plans don't feature much. I visited NZ either 7 or 8 times, both North and South Islands and also Stewart Island, so I have plenty of scope but I think the vast majority of landings will be on the water
  22. I continued my tour in this ORBX scenery yesterday and here are a set of pictures:- Departure from Auckland Harbour, lining up for take-off. On the step and... ...unstick. Turning onto course. That is the Kotanga Bridge on my left. I'm going to map read up the coast using an old road map that I used years ago. The headlands and coastlines should be pretty easy to recognise. And I shall probably engage the autopilot when I get to 1500 feet and engage the altitude and heading locks... Those lights in the distance are at Auckland International Airpo
