With the announcement of the ATWC, I'm reminded of all the fun plans I've flown our still have for a bit of simming fun. So it's been a little while P3D v4 arrived with all its 64 bit goodness. And it would have been remiss of me not to 'Potch' (Welsh colloquialism to mean 'dick around with') with the sim a little. Hi Luke, are you using FSX or FSX-SE?

Hi Luke. I'm afraid you've hit the dreaded OOM and it has nothing to do with the amount of VRAM you have. the memory the error refers to is called virtual memory. When windows runs an app, It allocates virtual memory. This isn't RAM or VRAM, so you the size of your gpu or system memory won't help. The amount of virtual memory needed depends on the application, but all 32-but apps like FSX can only access a maximum of 4gb of virtual memory (3gb if your using a 32-bit version of Windows). FSX has an issue with virtual memory, it doesn't really empty it out that well. So

Bare in mind that P3D v4 offers a vast improvement for VR users. Apparently it's much smoother and everything within the cockpit is now clickable.

You'll need to purchase again guys. Last time only people who purchased v2 within 60 days (iirc) got a free upgrade. Either way I'm really looking forward to this one

Matt, it does have a cfg file, just like fsx, but I'll be damned if it changes anything. It certainly did little to LOD no matter what I set.

Hi Carl. The A330 is really underdeveloped for fsx. Currently there are three I can think of, two of which are a bit long in the tooth. The first two are the Wilco A330 found in their evolution Airbus vol 2 pack. It models the original A330 EIS 1 Model, so somewhere around the late 90's early 2000's. It's old and showing it's age, plus, it's a wilco product, to use at your own risk. Just flight have their own A330 as part of their F-Lite range. It's a step up from default aircraft but no where near the Aerosoft A320 for example. The most modern A330 available is

Hi Sydney. The airbus bus will usually keep two Airac databases for pilots to choose from. They fact your seeing two separate versions isn't a issue. Just select the most up to ate version you have by pushing the left hand key next to that airac and you're good to go. Jess B

My flights have been very sporadic of late. In truth I spend more time having to write about sim stuff than actually flying. However, in the last few months my Airbus flights have all been in the 2 to 2 1/2 hour flights. I'm hoping to push this once I get my main sim set up correctly. . As for the GA stuff, well that's the preserve of the mutleys crew fly in.four plus hours, often whilst getting quietly merry.

Hi Bumblebee, i have the Airline2Sim dash-8 cadets course, and to be honest, it's very good. I've sat through lots of training videos in the past covering aircraft like the B767 and MD-80, and they've all had one thing in common. They are technically good, but the delivery is very dry and technical. The Airline2Sim vids are much more watchable. The information is all there, but you never feel the need to 'take a break to unscramble your head ' having watched them. It's all good stuff, proper information but it's easily digestible and a damn sight more friendly that a dry training

Hi Bumblebee, i'm afraid that PMDG stopped selling the old MD-11 last year along with the old 747-400. If you're lucky, you can still pick the old girl up though from Aerosoft as a boxed product, though supplies were already running low a while back. Best wishes, Jess B

Well Brett, the FSL is great value when you consider the Prosim A320 cockpit suite that I'm currently working with. Let's say you won't get much change out of two grand, in euros.
