as much as i like the ftx stuff , i dont like how heavy it is on vas on the p.c. if earth sims had produced a higher detailed version of the genx uk photoscenery without autogen I would be first in line , as i am not a great fan of autogen buildings, i think they detract from the scenery, i know quite a lot of you wont agree with this though. I am watching very carefully the turbulent designs scenery as they are combining IMHO the best of all worlds, ie the ftx detailed airfields with photoscenery and this for me is the way forward, high detail close to the airport reducing bit by bit as you g

our e type was sold in the us for less than 10k dollars back in 2003 , i now have it up for sale for 160k euros you would not believe it was the same car, like wise the DB6 which is now back in the uk and under offer 20 years ago it looked much like some of those hulks under the sheds.

no doubt some of you have seen what is coming by going direct however there are some I am sure who will not have seen the detail of what is coming in the not too distant future http://forums.wdsims.com/post/kmbs-hangars-first-look-7144055?pid=1285146968#post1285146968 also:

I thought I had see low fly byes before but this guy used hi props to cut the grass come to think of it if they all flew like this in the war the guys in the back would not need parachutes , just jump out and do a parachute roll shame the quality isnt better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCIAjZeIn7c

all laughing aside, i still cannot get onto the es site, bizarre! yes i did reboot and i dont keep a cache but will flush it anyway [edit] found it!! somehow a little prog called rocket tab had kindly installed itself to firefox now all is well

Geoff does bring up a valid point and it is one that I am having trouble with, he is quite right in asking how much detail do we need at an airport. when we fire up fsx at an airport do we go mooching around it to see how realistic it is? or do we get stuck into flight plans and myriad other things in preparation to leave said airfield. I recently reviewed heathrow xtended and went all over it with a fine tooth comb to see how good a job the dev had done but I wonder how many who buy it ever bother? yet we all wax lyrical when we see the lengths that ftx has gone to reproduce a small airfield

i should have seen that coming

I also have been watching turbulent Kev, theiy are doing what you and I thought ftx should have been doing , if their products are as good as they have been taught , i cant see them losing, however as in all these things choosing the right airports is critical to success. As ftx and others have discovered there is much more money to be earnt reproducing US airports, So as much as I would like to see them producing some uk airfields i do wonder if it would make sound business sense, bearing in mind the only ftx uk airport that made a profit was Soton (apparently)

Joe to be honest if I could buy them from amazon and guarantee to receive them I would also build up a proper collection bit by bit, however here in France there are so many theiving b--tards that work in the post office that one only receives a percentage of what is sent, and the french retailers despite having over 5 million uk residents still live as if french is a major language on the world stage, and ignore potential business from the english speakers. you cant even buy a qwerty keyboard here! So one has to resort to plan B

I have always been a loyal advocate of Garys work, his airports have always been adequately designed without being heavy on resources and affordable. However does the panel not think that it is about time for him to up the anti (level of detail) to keep pace with new developments? Just as FTX changed the level of detail of small airports a few years ago, there are a couple of new airports due out shortly that will move the yardstick even further , without affecting p.c. performance Gary was lucky enough (thankfully) to see off the challenge of ftx on his homepatch however recent arrivals l

I have used this site for over 10 years http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/tracking/index.html originally you could communicate with the astronauts however as it became too busy it was reduced to educational places only that could converse. however it is excellent if you want to see the station as it will give you when it will be visible where you live , down to the minute I have in thas past phoned friends in the uk to tell them to go outside and where to look. I never tire of looking at it

I never thought of that Eccles

John, the approach diagram in the filthy weather thread is a .jpg and was done using snipping tool from a pdf as john says perhaps the quality isnt quite as crisp as the original but it is useable

Thanks for that little gem James, we have been amazed and touched at how many french friends from all over france have phoned up to make sure we are ok apparently on french tele it was announced that our village had received 360mm of rain !! thats impressive, no wonder people are phoning up

i just use the snipping tool that comes with windows, does the job very well.

Hi Chris, electricity still good, but we did have quite a lot of cuts last night but swmbo was lucky enough to watch her dancing prog. they have evacuated over 1000 from a village downhill and many hundreds from other villages , it should be interesting to see the results of all this tomorrow river now over 7 meters and still climbing according to their website as my garden is about 10 inches deep in water i thought i would remove the cover to our drains, geez the whirlpool was like something out of sinbad or pirates of the carib, so tried to put the cover back on before my garden disappe

well so far we have had 200mm (8 inches) of rain overnight added to 10 inches the previous 48 hours and things are getting interesting here, many of the local villages are flooded or being evacuated our local river here is 6 meters!! above normal level and it is still rising the record was 6.7 meters but it is clear this is going to set a new record. apparently the rain should die off later on tonight and they anticipate the rain will slow down so that they estimate we will only get another 10cms over the next 12 hours. well thats alright then , i have rescued my snorkel and swim fins
