Hi John , firstly the rain is still falling heavily the villages downhill from me are cut off and flooded, the region is on red alert and there is no end to the rain in sight. for those that want to see the pictures here is a link to our local newspaper http://www.lindependant.fr/ luckily although our garden is well flooded the next village (st Paul) is 300 feet lower than us and our river is also a good deal lower than us so we should be alright , fingers crossed !! as I am writing this the alarm for the firemen has just sounded thats not good getting back to the topic on hand,

Well we didnt sleep much last night , been blowing a hooley with monsoon rain the whole south of France is flooded !! walked the dogs in the clouds this morning (we are over 1000 feet up) whilst blowing about 60mph in very heavy rain , talk about mad dogs and englishmen! Still looking on the bright side a great day for simming ! So here is your challenge shouild you choose to take it up, try landing at Perpignan (LFMP) using the weather metar below , easy eh? the only problem is that the ILS direction is downwind so you will need to break off the approach and perform a circle to land p

Geoff, I had a similar problem with it constantly loading historic weather not current weather,, when you do it again check the date of the metar it is working from, Rex Stough spent a while hooked into my P>C one evening. and cured it, I believe it had something to do with the date format , they use the american date format as does NOAA , at any rate I no longer have the problem and it no longer downloads the same historic weather every time, drop them a line on their forum it is a known problem. BTW I found R.Stough very amenable we chatted as he did his thing in my p.c. seemed a nice gu

geoff, sorry mate I have to disagree with you, rex downloads the current real time weather perfectly at least on my p.c. john, what you have to understand is what rex does , rex 4 just changes the textures in your fsx weather directory for want of a better description , you still need a weather engine which downloads the current or historic weather. This is where things get more complicated, as there are many options Personally i use rex essentials mostly as my weather engine but from time to time I use fsgrw as it is easy and at times gives more realistic cloud and weather , however like s

Duxford's 'Mk.I' Blenheim takes to the air
britfrog replied to Paul K's topic in Real World Aviation
I just hope this plane is flown by a sympathetic pilot who is young and quick to react , like the aircrews were originally , not some old fogey of an squadron leader who has flown nothing but a desk all his life like the bird brain that crashed the mk4 Personally I am awaiting the completion of the Beaufighter which has been making slow progress -
when I was a kid I thought this plane was the K9 danglies , my father said that it wasnt that good and pointed out all its shortcomings (which lead to a very short service life) but I wasnt listening , As i aged and started flying I realised that my father was right it could not carry a bomb load plus enough fuel to go trans atlantic, but I still love this bird

thats a bit like here John, the locals are wearing winter clothes and the holiday makers are wearing t shirts and shorts. However the ski slopes open this weekend and there isnt any snow !! we have had a very warm autumn up till now temps in the day still in the region of low to mid 20's (thats mid 70's in old money) so must not complain, but we could do with some rain , many areas here are still on drought alert.

I have always been a huge supporter of gary's airports and was quite an outspoken supporter against the arrival of FTX. However seeing what quality and detail is now being offered by some devs there is no doubt that Gary has to up his game somewhat, otherwise like the new heathrow other devs will dive in and take away his business.

the farm was rebuilt-ish in the old style he got a plate /memorial nearbye and he is remembered by those that remain, every V.E. day new flowers are laid at all the memorials of the maquis everywhere , and they will be so for evermore, as they have been paid for in blood and the public coffers are have been ruled to supply the flowers so that every generation in the future asks why , and is then told why we must celebrate those that died so that we remain free. we were so lucky in the uk not to hear jack boots in our streets .

you cant beat ftx for some stuff, I wish they would do more central european destinations,

LOL! in actual fact I went to see a farmhouse in the hills above my house , way in the middle of nowhere on top of a large hill at about 6 thousand feet high. the informers in a neighbouring village collared a young man known to be a member of the resistance and along with a platoon of german soldiers forced him to take them to the farm. Knowing that his arrest had been witnessed he chose to take them by the longest route possible, so that help could take the short route and warn the other resistance to hide. When they did arrive at the farm the germans were furious as they realsied there w

Six fighter planes that were part of a collection of warbirds sold to a dealer in August will be restored and sold by Boschung Global Ltd. of Switzerland, the company said Thursday. The fighters, a version of German Messerschmitts, operated in World War II and were last flown for the making of the 1969 film "Battle of Britain." When the film was completed, stunt pilot Wilson "Connie" Edwards received the fighters and other warbirds used in the movie in lieu of payment. Since then, the aircraft sat in a hangar in Texas for more than 40 years until Wilson put them on the market. The six airplane

The former maintenance hangar at the Fantasy of Flight aviation attraction in Polk City, Florida, will reopen to the public soon to display some of Kermit Weeks' aircraft collection, including a 1944 B-24 Liberator, the museum announced this week. The opening day is tentatively set for Saturday, Dec. 6. Meanwhile, Weeks said the next evolution of the attraction will continue to develop over the next three to five years. During the transition, the site remains open for corporate and private events. The maintenance-hangar collection will be open to the public Thursday to Sunday. The doors close

I cant see that this has been covered before, if it has excuse me. but if you are wanting to change the fsx splash page , as fsx fires up, simply go into the Uires folder find the file dlgsplash.bmp , rename it , and replace it with any 800x600 photo that you want just call it dlgsplash.bmp Simples!

As much as I would like to see this stay in the UK there is no way the CAA will allow it to ever be flown here. Someone has already tried. So hopefully some foreign wealthy person will buy it and get it airworthy. otherwise it will stay in the UK as coke cans

I have to say I still consider this to be a frivolous waste of our money as for living in a cave well as a race we are going back to that state in the near future if we are not careful James I also never got an answer about what was before the big bang
