well the inevitable as started to happen according to sky news. National Grid has brought forward plans to tap additional power capacity over the winter in reaction to unexpected plant outages. It is being described as a precautionary move, supported by Government, to safeguard supply rather than any bid to prevent possible blackouts. National Grid said it had launched a tender for its Supplemental Balancing Reserve (SBR), asking power firms how much more electricity they could provide the network to fill a potential gap. The network operator cited a series of unplanned shutdowns at lar

this video has nothing to do with flying or simming

Yeah dai it was pretty cool, however my Dad was not just a pilot he was a great artist, i cant draw a matchstick man, and he was a brain box, I remember when I was having trouble figuring out trigonometry at school he gave me a look like "what have I brought into this world" but then sat me down an explained it all. That xmas he bought me a book on mathematical conundrums which i still have because afternearly 50 years i still havent figured them all out , he had in a week! Consequently I have never attempted to stand in his shadow, just did my own thing. -
well i deleted my p3d .cfg and let it write another and managed to get the 20fps as well, i guess I will have to find out where the log jam has been created in the old.cfg

Kevin, i tried to get my head around GMAX a few years ago, as I mistakingly thought computer programs would be logical. Like you I gave up, but it does beg the question why do we put up with rubbish like this? why doesnt someone come out with a better , easier way of doing things? I taught myseld autocad 14 which is a humongous program that can do 50 trillion more things than GMAX, in a very short time, but I cannot draw a pencil in GMAX

Cosford 2014 Announced.
britfrog replied to mutley's topic in Mutley's Hangar News and Announcements
it would appear that sales this year are way down on expectations, saitek has pulled out of the show and from what i hear, the parent company of flight 1 has big problems and is either downscaling what they were going to do or also pull out. Still every cloud has a silver lining, from my experience those retailers that do attend will be more inclined to cut prices to make sales so it can only be good news for us simmers. -
I was sent a link to this today, seems very interesting http://fsfx.oldprop.com/ see the video here:

hopefully someone else will give us something to compare with, as for me I think I have to go back and look mat the .cfg file because performance or lack of it has always been my problem with P3D
-
i get that line when i am using rex in fsx and it only happens when i am near a join of 2 levels of cloud , interestingly I dont get that n P3D

Having seen the latest southampton promo pics in the fog I recently upgraded my ftx southampton scenery to the latest version which gives some amazing new lights and stuff so I tried to reproduce the ftx photos So for those with ftx Southampton please do the following using an a/c of your choice (I used the Carenado 337) do not activate any weather other than that which comes with P3D set the weather theme as fogged in set the time as summer , but dusk say 19.30 ish now start the sim and tell me what happens when you try to taxi i am down to 6fps after quite a wait for things to s

Canadian Lancaster grounded by engine fire!
britfrog replied to dodgy-alan's topic in Real World Aviation
I could be wrong but the canadan one probably has packhard merlins whilst the uk will have rolls royce merlins. for those that dont know the difference packhards were given the job of building the merlins to put in the mustangs and other a/c , however they modified it quite severely and made a much better engine of it , the main difference was that the RR v12 had wet liners , which lead to many head gasket failures the us engine had a proper block with dry liners, the engines were heavier but more reliable. And just a little bit more useless info, as many of you know they fitted the merli -

Canadian Lancaster grounded by engine fire!
britfrog replied to dodgy-alan's topic in Real World Aviation
what a shame , surely the BOB has a spare they can lend them for the time being? it takes only 4 hours to change an engine -
I am not sure that I understand this. If version 2.3 has broken a lot of the back compatible code, then shouldn't that mean that existing FSX airports will struggle to run in P3D? I haven't noted any major problems so far with my UK2000 airports, although there are minor issues (like odd looking PAPI lights). in short Chris slowly but surely fsx airports will have some features that will not work in P3D because they are updating old code this particular time it is some runway markings and lighting that has been affected no doubt as they mess with the remains of fsx other stuff will cea

sorry Kevin flown over it at 37k but didnt know it existed, open LC for me is a no go, my region here is planted with what resemble camel thorn trees, I am surprised they didnt add giraffes and elephants. Hopefully some small team will make photoscenery and release it foc
-
they have also done Belgrade, quite reasonably as well, I also would like them to do photoscenery but I suppose most of these old iron curtain countries (for want of a better description) consider aerial photos a state secret. I am talking to their English speaking rep and see what he says. If any of you do buy it the visual approach for rnwy 14 from Dubrovnik via the reporting point MOKUN where you must be ground visual is right interesting

If you like difficult approaches i would like to recommend the airport of Tivat (montenegro), it is made by skyhighsim which is a small group of guys who make scenery in their spare time. It is not absolute top drawer stuff like say ftx airports but it is way more than just adequate. however no matter which runway you choose you have a challenge on your hands especially if you set cloud base as 3000 feet or less, (the nearbye hills go up to 6.500!!) this is from their site Tivat Airport is an international (IATA: TIV, ICAO: LYTV) airport located some 4km from the center of Tivat, Mont
