  1. Many thanks, Eddie! Hmm, so it's a problem that's local to me (or my ISP — I'm on 100Mb cable broadband from VirginMedia).... Er.... Not sure where I'll start with that one. But many thanks indeed for verifying that it's not a generic YouTube thing. Cheers, B. P.S. I've just found this: http://www.telecomstechnews.com/news/2014/sep/08/youtube-borked-some-virgin-media-users-again-customers-get-restless/ I'm not sure whether it's entirely relevant, but I'll follow it up.
  2. Hi Eddie! Great idea! OK, here you go (this is a preliminary rough cut that I posted about ten days ago — I know for sure that it was 1080p when I posted it...): link removed The options I get when I click the "gearwheel" icon: Incidentally, I've also checked a vid that I posted two or three years ago, and I get the same options on that, too (the vid even has a request at the start asking people to watch it in 1080p, but I now see only the options shown above so I can't): link removed Cheers, B. [Later edit: links removed — no longer relevant].
  3. With me it's police (in an extremely rough dockside slum area) and the RAF, so we're probably about equal in that area. Just as well for everyone else that the don't p**s (oops, sorry) us off. Cheers, B.
  4. <grin> Ah yes, I'm familiar with the syndrome. Too b****y hot or too b****y cold. A simmer's life is full of challenges.... Cheers, B.
  5. Hi Martin! (Sorry for being a bit late for the party!). I use NVidia Surround with three monitors, and have found that it can quite easily get flustered — for example, if I accidentally switch off one of the screens. If it's any help to you, to restore normal service I follow this procedure (this is from memory, so perhaps not totally accurate, but I think the main things are here): Right-click the desktop and open the nVidia Control Panel. From there, ensure that the box "Span displays with Surround" is ticked, then click the button below to Configure. (Since you are running Logitech
  6. Many thanks, guys. I wanted to just tell it "like it is". @ John > "...got to be half-past disappointing." Ohhhhh man, you have (I hope) no idea of the language I have used.... Cheers, B.
  7. <grin> Clearly your memories of the area are still spot on in certain respects, Alan (notably, when you speak of "...the posh nobs in Sunningdale etc..."). There are a lot of people with a lot of money in this corner of north east Hampshire / Berkshire / Surrey, and they certainly look after their own interests extremely well. My knowledge of the area only goes back to the late 70s when I was posted to RAF Odiham and encountered the posh inhabitants of Odiham "village", who if they had to refer to the RAF Station at all did so disparagingly as "the camp", as though we were all still und
  8. @John I doubt if the weather was a factor. At the time of the crash I was in my garden about four miles away: mostly sunny, the runway would undoubtedly be dry, wind I'd estimate at up to 10 kts from the SW, so rwy 25 wouldn't be downwind. @Alan Thank you for the links: the airfield has certainly had a considerable history, but unfortunately I suspect that your recollections no longer represent the current reality, i.e. since the airfield was sold to British Car Auctions. As Wikipedia notes, the airfield has been "much reduced in size since its heyday" (no doubt when the area to the west wa
  9. Some footage was on the South Today TV news, here, although no additional information was given. My *guess* at the moment (FWIW) would be that the pilot had serious problems and was unable to reach Farnborough a few miles away (an airport which is dedicated to private jets, whilst I can't remember noticing anything other than prop aircraft as I have driven past Blackbushe). The car auction site adjoins Blackbushe airport, and the runway is only 4380 ft long, so that if the pilot was unable to stop and overran the end of rwy 25 then I can imagine that he might end up amongst the parked cars wa
  10. Many thanks for that, Brett! > "...hope it lasts a long time..." <grin> Me too. I don't throw 'em away, I wear 'em out. Cheers, B.
  11. Thank you, gentlemen. It seems that, sadly, something is indeed afoot at YT. I guess there's nothing that mere users like ourselves can do, then.... 8-\ Cheers and thanks, B.
  12. Thank you, guys. I'm not entirely sure whether the saga is madly helpful to anyone, but I posted it as a simple account of what happened to me. (FWIW). I'm seriously annoyed about the USB3 thing, mostly because it was a very important factor for me when I specified the upgrade but hey - life's like that. 88-) > "In the meantime, hats off to Matt at Chillblast for supporting Mutley's..." I'll drink to that! Although it's important to bear in mind that sponsorship doesn't mean that we relinquish our independence, in reviews or anything else. Cheers and thanks, B.
  13. Thanks, guys, but the situation is: a) I have always uploaded my videos at 1080p, including the latest one. b) All of them are now subject to the restriction of 720p/360p/"Auto", which was not the case before. c) Internet searches have not been helpful, except to confirm that others are now suffering from similar problems. I have also heard that YouTube is shortly to be divorced from Google (+?), so maybe that has something to do with it.... <sigh>. Cheers, B.
  14. Thanks, Chris! But I haven't moved my region, my area, or even my house - yet the change has still happened. Cheers, B.
  15. Have YouTube moved the goalposts again? I post my videos at 1080p — however I posted one a few days ago (not aviation related) but when I came to view it I found that clicking on the 'gear wheel' gave me only three options — 720p, 360p, or "Auto". Furthermore, I have just noticed that my previous videos have now also been reduced to the same three options (and 1080p was definitely available as an option previously). Did I miss some sort of announcement, or was this a "silent update"? Or is 1080p available via some other route, perhaps?? (A Baldrick-style "cunning plan" comes t
  16. Hmm, the last film I took an interest in and so researched has so far only brought back from the box office barely half of what it cost to make. It's a notoriously difficult market to predict, so I suspect that netting "billions" might be a teeny tad exaggerated? Cheers, B.
  17. A shame to lose to such a historic aircraft, especially when the crew had done what they could. The numpty that did the damage was surely the bright spark who had the idea of trying to hoist it on board a barge. But I'll bet the lawyers have an expensive field day deciding who's going to pay.... I have to agree with Richard — credit to the film company for opting to use the real aircraft. They weren't to know what was about to happen, and are probably now going to have to expensively re-shoot parts of the film to work around the absence of aircraft (after the accident I somehow doubt that
  18. Great pics, Matt! Looks like you had a fun weekend. Cheers, bruce a.k.a. brian747
  19. @James > "...am attracted by a ' Modernised' version with Steam." Er, I may get shot down for this, but as far as I was aware the jury is still out concerning the extent of the alleged "modernisations". As I heard it, the license that Dovetail bought doesn't allow them to change any of the code, so the extent of any improvements they can make is limited accordingly. But perhaps someone has more up to date information? Cheers, bruce a.k.a. brian747
  20. FWIW, I have recently posted some additional EZCA information which might perhaps be helpful, here: http://forum.mutleyshangar.com/index.php/topic/17235-ezdok/#entry138556 And here: http://forum.mutleyshangar.com/index.php/topic/17235-ezdok/#entry138661 Cheers, bruce a.k.a. brian747
  21. Thanks for your understanding, Wayne. (And for your kind forgiveness, Brett). Wayne, again your problem sounds to me rather like (but with P3D in the mix it may not be, of course) the usual one with EZCA — a key conflict somewhere between FSX and EZCA's keys (which are mostly on the numeric keypad). When you feel able to look at EZCA again without summarily deleting the thing, might I suggest another trawl through your FSX key assignments? Painful and boring, I know, but.... I had a look through my own EZCA folders to see if there was anything which might possibly be helpful,
  22. Ouch! My light-hearted comment about complexity now seems very inept. Sorry to hear that you're having such a difficult time, my friend: I do hope that you resolve all these issues soon. Sadly, I don't know anything about either Steam or P3D, so I can't be of any use, but hopefully there are people here who can help. Best of luck, B.
