  1. Excellent shots and story John - although arriving in a F-35 would surely be a little bit of an eye-catcher!
  2. Eligible Aircraft 3. Participants may fly any piston or turbo-prop single or twin engined aircraft of their choice. Turbojet, turbofan and other such engined aircraft are not eligible for entry in the event. I just didn't read the rules!
  3. I kept to about 9500ft, only climbing when terrain was an issue
  4. Nice flight Mikael - glad to see another reasonably uneventful flight!
  5. I must say it's not exactly an advantage!
  6. An early morning train to Dublin is neveer very good for your health. At least it is getting brighter in the mornings (until they put the clocks forward!) 22005 at Portlaoise, 25/3/15 by hurricanemk1c, on Flickr Whilst quietly dozing away in the rear coach, a text message arrives: "Hey Kieran, the baton is in the trunk. Cheers, Brian" Oh bugger. Forgot about that. Now, how to get to Indira Handhi International Airport in the next 48 hours, and what aircraft can I fly? Sleep was quickly forgotten as the Irish Rail Wi-Fi got a hammering, along with some maps I had put in my bag t
  7. Whops. Didn't see that bit in the rules! Wondered why I had never used it before!
  8. That's fine with me Joe - have my hands full with the Shack anyway!
  9. Now, a lot of people were suprised about my aircraft choice, not least Andrew who was a tad concerned about performance! Anyway, to kick the ball rolling here, below are a few shots from the test flight: Starting off Lift off Luckily I have a whole crew assisting me, although they didn't want to be photographed in the company of a crazy pilot! Heading down Landed Kieran
  10. I'll fly it probably tomorrow (long day out today train spotting), so will post it then
  11. Now - the results aren't published until the dates shown though John: http://mebar.mutleyshangar.com/sched.htm
  12. Going on the windscreen craking theory (that now looks suspect), surely the first thing would be to don masks, as per SOP, rather than try and descend. CVR pretty badly cut up, but could be useable. From AvHerald:
  13. List of accidents (not necessarily in order) - http://avherald.com/h?list=&opt=7681 So 4 Boeings (3 crashes, one shoot down) And 2 Airbuses (both A320's) over the past year and few days. So not exactly a lot recently. Sad to see another crash though - will be interesting to see what happened.
  14. Blimey - we are having more than our fair share of troubles this challenge! Two engine fires well dealt with Jess - and I share you dislike for the heat!
  15. Ed - what I use is Plan-G to plot a course then save it as an FSX flight plan as a back-up to 'pure' navigation. Also gives a good idea of where you are generally with times
  16. It's a challenge John - but an enjoyable one as it extends your skills. It took me two MEBARs to get radials shown on Plan-G! Planning on something rather large this year!
  17. Perfectly clear here now - as it was on Wednesday and Thursday mornings! Come back Moon - have another go!
  18. Didn't see it at all - full cloud cover with a bit of fog to top it off! Noticed it get darker and cooler though. Managed to get Jupiter and moons on Wednesday night though
