  3. Part 2 (Couldn't wait until tomorrow!) This follows on from Part 1 Having been forced to divert to Helsinki due to the refusal of Latvian authorities to allow the Canberra in, a new plan had to be hurriedly proposed. SAS did a return trip for crew training with an Avro RJ85 to Riga. A few calls later and I was there bright and early the next morning. Problem was, the aircraft wasn't ready. A good few hours later it was, so we all trooped out to get the aircraft ready. Yes, it was an Irish reg too! External power plugged in, time to get the cockpit warm Power on Time for pushback
  4. Arriving in Finland was a shock. It's a bit nippy over here, even more so than 0630 at Portlaoise! Having transited through Helsinki earlier in the day, I sat around in the warm café awaiting an American called Matt. He would have the baton with him and it was my job to bring it safely to Riga. Just before I had the famous call from our Director of Operations, Mikael (brief as ever), I had another call from the Finnish Government. Turns out they wanted to do some mapping around the coastline and the north of the country, to keep an eye on Russia I think. I was sort of volunteered for the job,

  8. That little highlighted word means a lot to me. I've heard lots of people blaming just the human race on the increasing temperature. They get a bit upset when I mention the Ice Age! You would have to elaborate in regard to the context when you mention the ice age. But yes, it's not just the human race that's responsible for climate change. Solar activity, volcanism, ocean current fluctuations, all of these factors have to be considered and accounted for.
