  1. Short answer Chris, I have no idea! If you could more closely describe what circumstances you are referring to I might be able to understand what it is you get in some places but not others, and what it is you want to happen? Cheers K
  2. Here's a snapshot of what's done so far from the current UK AIP. Most of the air traffic services airspace contained in ENR2. All aerodrome data contained in part 3. MATZ information. Altimeter setting regions. To be included next are all the navigation warnings in ENR5, comprising prohibited, restricted and danger areas, military exercise areas, air navigation obstacles, aerial sporting activities and bird migration areas K
  3. That's a distinct possibility Chris, I am just figuring out what exactly the 'center' areas are supposed to be. Am I right in thinking they are the FIR's? K
  4. Thanks John, are they grouped by geographical region then? K
  5. Thanks John, I was going to PM you regarding updating waypoints and related airways as well. Everything I've read and researched so far says "far too difficult". Herve Sors produces an updated navaids/waypoints package, but hasnt touched airways at all and states that using his package may lead to sim CTDs and AI failure. I imagine that the network of airways is defined by having each ISEC waypoint act as a node and attached to it is a list of airways it serves and the next waypoint each airway links to. For airways to work each node would need to link into the same defined airway coded in
  6. As most of you know, FSX shipped with a lot of complex airspace data as default. Unfortunately, it was stuck in time in 2005 and is now massively out of date. While trying to solve a problem I was having with VoxATC, I started playing around with the airspace definitions, which has grown into a project to replace much of the old airspace data with new up to date information straight out of the current UK AIP. I have created an excel spreadsheet that automatically creates correct compilable xml code just by cutting and pasting text in from the AIP With this, I have updated all the ENR2.2 cl
  7. Doubt it, the legislation Iain referred to affects only the EU, other purchasors pay nil added VAT I think...
  8. Thanks for the heads up James, if theres something that comes out of it I'm sure we'll find out in good time.. Here's hoping it works out for D&V..
  9. well the EU hasnt exactly got a good reputation for effective financial controls, what on earth makes anyone think they're competent to go messing around in (already far too complex) tax codes without causing a big fat mess... *sigh* I am more than sometimes stunned by the ineptness of those who attempt to govern us...far too often even a village fool could predict negative consequences of their legislation that seems to evade them until its too late! K
  10. From the ES helpdesk (still active for a short period of time apparently) Why has ES ceased trading? ← General FAQ A number of factors have been instrumental in the decision to close down Earth Simulations. ◾We have been unable to secure enough orders for our most recent product line to raise the capital needed to pay our way and therefore remain in business. ◾Recent changes to taxation rules make running a small business such as ES extremely difficult. We are now required to register for VAT separately in every country we sell to and keep records of each sale accordingly. The added
  11. I'm still slightly in shock, but I doubt it's a glitch. I don't really want to guess or speculate any further..if it's for real then RIP quite possible the best scenery developer I've come across in terms of accuracy and quality. Even if ES is gone forever, I hope someone will perhaps pick up the corporate assets and keep the flame alive somehow, it's done in so many other areas of company life so why not in our little niche? K
  12. Just to confuse you further It is not the same as Rex4Texture Direct. You do not need to have Texture Direct to have Soft Clouds, it can be run as a standalone option. Soft Clouds gives you merely a set of 'soft' low level cloud options that work in the same way as the Texture Direct clouds (they replace the same textures). I think the killer question in all this is not really the cloud textures, it is how they are displayed in the sim through your weather engine in particular weather circumstances. All weather engines will of course display them slightly differently, and of course fanbo
  13. Ive never experienced a vertical contrail Chris, what a/c is that happening with?
  14. Capt R said in another thread the issue would only result in a short delay, and it wasnt a major drama Which of course it isnt...but its easy to see why some licencing partners wish to see it being dealt with and not ignored. K
  15. Doing the NGX next makes commercial sense I suppose Let's hope Capt R gets his crew working swiftly in the new year to bring out a P3D version And while I'm on Christmas wishlists, heres hoping LM are talking to the dev about making some of those missing effects in P3D work *wish!* Merry Xmas all! K
  16. dont have the 777 due to having transitioned over to P3D conpletely but it does look good...Q400 next please chaps?! K
  17. see here for a checklist for the A2A C182... http://forum.avsim.net/topic/426844-my-take-on-voice-activated-checklists/page-3#entry3139613
  18. Just a shame its over the pond In sure scenery if this quality would sell in the Uk if the locations were chosen well
  19. Reed, I don't know how, but after installing the TD update, the problem whereby my weather engine (opus) crashed P3D if I opened it before loading a flight has been fixed! Great smoking guns! Thankyou K
  20. Thanks for the reassurance Reed, I'll suspend judgement til I've tasted those water textures and seen how awesome the awesome things are K
  21. I really don't think it's a scam, given the people involved, but whether it's a viable commercial model is another question entirely. I'd sign up if it was £10 a month and I knew I'd get 10 new UK airfields done to a much higher quality, but for myself I know I wouldn't use anything outside the UK really so it may not be worth it. K
  22. Might have to invest in this and look at the freeware Norway airports that are out there
  23. Folks, don't know whether any of you have come across this? http://www.sim-unlimited.com/ IMO I'd want to know what was coming, not sure if I'd want to part with $10 a month for something I may never be interested in or use. I might take a punt if I could influence what projects the participating devs were working on, but my flying is limited to VFR in the UK (I might expand that to Q400 ops in Europe shortly) so it might limit what is interesting to me... What do you think? What's your opinion? Would it need to be new content? Would you want know what was in the pipeline first? Would you
