  1. would be nice if they would release those lovely P3D2 water goodies to we R4TD users as well though... am rather wishing I hadnt bought R4TD now as it hasn't given me anything I didnt really have before, and the water fixes for P3D2 have been released earlier through a supposedly inferior product line :s Once bitten...Bad REX!
  2. no difference I think Chris, other than the intended end use. I bought A2A aircraft and no checks on me
  3. as a P3D2 exclusive flyer I might pick that chipmunk up now thanks for that
  4. thanks Chris, that would be really appreciated, if you want to learn something new I'm sure everyone will be willing to share their knowledge ...i have no idea over and above the basics regarding AFD's so theres something I can learn from you! K
  5. Nigel, if ever I find myself down your way I shall find us a halfway decent bar and get more of these stories out of you
  6. Something like that James yes between us maybe we can spread the workload of scenery creation, learn some new skills and have a bit of fun along the way? Would you be up for that as well?
  7. Fab, I have no exp in animations so that would be a tremendously useful skillset thanks Im sure we can get pretty close to reality without needing micrometet precision? Yes, texture preparation will be a key area. ive some exp with photoshop so we can try to use open source material as much as possible, and supplement with on site imagery if feasible or otherwise fall back on best guess repeated or manufactured textures (if its good enough for spme devs its good enough for me!) I agree, but it is totally voluntary. If people wish to dip in and out I'm ok with that, it just needs managing
  8. Enthusiasm that'll take you far! Don't mind helping you out, dare say wielding that hammer might be fun as well Now we are three who will make it four? K
  9. BF you miss my point mate, I dont intend to create anything and sell it, only to satisfy my own (and anyone who feels similarly) needs and desires. Maybe anything wont be up to pro standards nowadays but if ppl want to diss it they won't have paid anything and can freely choose not to use it On 2 points I massively disagree: 1. P3D2 is more stable and aesthetically pleasing in every way, (for me at least). The type of small airfields I'm thinking of wont ever take tubeliners anyway so the fact some well known quality products arent available yet means zero to me 2. I agree with your hyp
  10. hmmm I forgot about scotflight :/ I wouldnt want to reinvent the wheel anywhere and if there was a P3D2 version of scotflight in the wings imminently Id look somewhere else...Tony is already doing something up that way, we should discreetly enquire whats going on there?
  11. How about a rendition of UK10 Plockton as its in the new earthsims area, is very small, and has a few nice simple structures that we could het to grips with? *wonders*
  12. Dai, we are now a team ...my thoughts on those were... 1. if its organised properly we could do all 3, depending on what people who are participating are using. Personally Im only using P3D2 and I wouldnt do a default option....does anyone run default only??? Each option would need a mesh blend and a colour match base image so multiple compatibility is just a matter of appropriate skills, planning and organisation... 2. bespoke models definitely, detail and complexity dependent on peoples skills and ability- its easy to knock up relatively sinple sketchup models and I dont think we'd get
  13. yea they are great, but as we know the no of sales was inexplicably somewhat crippled by both lack of compatibility (old story no need to explore further!) and the choice of locations. I never understood the logic behind trying to produce vfr airfields around arguably some of the most restricted and heavily controlled airspace (ie London) in the world! Great for hardcore vatsim flyers but not really the best for just get in and fly scenery explorers :s I think thats why Southampton did immeasurably better, it appealed to a wider audience and wasnt so restrictive on that assessment there a
  14. chris I already asked him and the answer was no, sadly
  15. chris the answer is economics, and personality a little I suspect. if NA airfields sell better, it is only sound judgement to make those first, no developer really has the commitment to UK scenery (apart from UK2000 and Earth Simulations) so I can understand that. i suspect at least in orbx's case there's a little bit of "you didnt buy our airports you b*stards, so we're not playing with you anymore, hello america!" in there as well Remember southampton was done by an external dev for them, who have other life commitments and are developing in NA too themselves now. Truth is, unless anyon
  16. they are good enough for me at the moment in terms of detail. id like to see Gary fully embrace P3D in terms of functionality (I may be wrong but I think he relies on older lighting tech which means some elements like PAPIs have to revert to default versions?) I still think there is an untapped market for GA airfields at a higher quality standard in the UK. I think the specs of the new 'cubed' products from turbulent designs are spot on... 3 airfields within striking distance of each other, done to a good standard (and compatible with photoscenery and FTX region) would be successful K
  17. seems to be ok now, just routine maintenance?
  18. I have been particularly impressed by the night lighting, the ground light splashes are graduated and diffused so naturally I am in awe of them every time I fly This product combines an unprecedented level of real photographic detail, with impressive and immersive 3D surroundings, giving us scenery detail that has hitherto only been available over large areas with landclass type products but is now combined with accurate visual detail One thing you didnt comment on Dai was the updated range of living world ai ground vehicle models, which are fully updated to British type vehicles... no see
  19. Im with andrew on this, theres risk in everything we do and its impossible to eliminate everything let alone impractical to try. Lets all not fly anymore in case the plane crashes (probably a more statistically likely occurence!?) If someone can make a better helmet great, and if someone else chooses to wear it even better. the rest if us will do a quick mental risk assesment in our heads and carry on regardless K
  20. was value for money really a pro at 6/10???? glad i avoided this...interesting that we've another thread ongoing including discussion of whetherr A2A a/c are too expensive...I'd take more costly and accurate over cheap and poorly done anyday K
  21. I echo Dai's comments, price is expensive, I'd prob buy anyway if it was compatible with ES (and P3D2!).... Maybe by christmas? i was put off by the screenshots as well, they seemed v poor quality, like they were almost done in FS9 :s Didnt seem to match up with the price level to me :|
  22. Check this out, that was produced with it... http:/youtu.be/iOmvMruvWHg
  23. This is an interesting little utility that I've come across, and its free! http://fsxtimes.wordpress.com/2014/11/18/266-run-through-checklist-interactively/ Its not functional in terms of controlling switches etc in the VC so its not the equivalent of FS2CREW, but if you like this sort of thing, it could help you keep your head out of the paper checklists and in the cockpit It is completely customisable for any a/c by creating your own xml script in a text editor, and if you have any voicepacks (IVONA etc) then you wont have to record any wav file checklist prompts . Sweet!
  24. i use scenery config editor no problems at all, apart from the fact if it rebuilds your scenery.cfg then it erases all the groupings, so you need to keep a backup! k
