  1. Darren, I think you missed my point, I wasn't commenting on the value of the product to me, as you know that already, just that Brotfrog got the numbers wrong
  2. Forgive me Darren, I thought there were three times as many areas as GenX? So 6volumes x 3areas x £45 plus 2volumes x1area x £45 is £850 all in? $ is 1.71 to the £ today so that's equivalent to $1453.50, not $2000 K (yes pedantry is my middle name!)
  3. I have one or two areas that I do probably 60-70% of my flying in, one of those being my home airfield where I learned to fly, and then wander round the UK to various interesting places that I've either been in RL or intend to visit at some point
  4. Should do I think, you'd just need to put the agn files in the correct GenX texture folder?
  5. AFAIK the imagery Scotland is based on is the same as GenX, but the colour correction makes it absolutely worthwhile upgrading that IMHO. The E&W imagery is much more recent than GenX I think Darren said somewhere.
  6. I've seen a preview, if you're a low and slow person those little features make all the difference
  7. Unless it all installs perfectly into P3D in which case you need to upgrade
  8. Brill will existing customers get an email to advise when it's available for dl?
  9. Great to hear Chris, as soon as 2.3 is released I'll be installing into P3D
  10. We'll just have I wait to see how long it takes to cover the UK Chris, there's no info about how quickly they'll be released...
  11. Well even if you have GenX and are happy with it I imagine a shed load of people will buy the 3D stuff, as they only have Treescapes at the moment to 3D'ify it atm. This will take it to a whole new level. Prob a smaller number of people will buy the photoscenery I guess, but I suspect quite a few people will upgrade parts of the UK that they fly over and not get the whole shebang? Nothing scientific there just my hunch
  12. Nah Chris, get yourself the biggest HD you can and store it all on there...I have 3Tb ready and waiting... You can pick up a decent sized HD for well under what it will cost to buy it all on individual HDs from ES For example http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-256-SE&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1955 Cheers K
  13. The first area to be covered by Earth Simulations new Autogenesis product line is up on their store. http://earthsimulations.com/shop/ It's available to pre-order..release date is marked as 1st week in August for photoscenery / mid July for the 3D autogen and there are separate products for the new photoscenery and 3D autogen products.
  14. Dai, all opinions are valid, especially so when they aren't the same as mine I'll take another look at GE! But Chris and I have been critical of some early wear attempts..maybe the team overcompensated in the other direction . Cheers K
  15. Aww come on Nige constructive criticism is always awesomely accepted. Maybe Chris and I missed something? If you think something's not right put it front and centre so we can take it on board. I'm man enough to admit if I missed something and the team would appreciate any pointers I'm sure for improvements. Sorry if my previous post came over a bit combative, you know I love you really cheers K Please post the pics
  16. Have to say Nige as another beta tester who looked at the runways and taxiways, I'm with Chris they are pretty damned good IMHO. There's always room for improvement in any product but I think the 'happy shopper' comment is well undeserved and best withdrawn, unless you have some evidence showing a specific problem or area that is unrealistic? Cheers K
  17. Because I don't know the area well Chris, I can't say how much it does or doesn't reflect reality. If you gave us a section of the UK rendered in the same way I could compare it against current NEUK and what I know of the area to give a more considered opinion? But, none of that takes away from the fact that clearly a lot of attention has gone into that render and it looks extremely good. Cheers K
  18. Don't know the area at all well guys but it looks very nice indeed
  19. I'm much more a low and slow man anyway I prefer the q400 to the NGX any day of the week - because it's so less automated
  20. Was a freebie from somewhere just never installed it Have no time for flying new things with work and a 1yr old and if I fancy a 737 outing I'll take the NGX
  21. Boxed and still sealed Only want postage for it please (Might as well go to a good home)
  22. I don't find AVSIM a bad place, but then again I keep my nose clean now after nearly being banned over at OrbX so many times for not being on message (now there's somewhere where dissenting views are widely and liberally tolerated )I much prefer Mutleys where I can tease you and Britfrog from time to time without wondering when Joe will wall of shame me
  23. Sarcasm and irony Chris, very accomplished
  24. Hi Chris, I just meant creating entries in the scenery.cfg file, which I did using sceneryconfigeditor. In reality I just copied and pasted large sections of my FSX scenery.cfg into my P3D2 scenery.cfg, then checked them in SCE to make sure they were valid Hence there was no necessity to install everything from the source files again, especially for huge disk munching content like photoscenery. I just couldn't be bothered to go through that. Just to be sure I didn't break anything though, I copied across all files from my FSX autogen /Texture /modules /sound /(some) simobjects fol
  25. Have to say I didn't find it a problem. The installation of P3D2 itself was a dream and I installed it in parallel to FSX so if I got annoyed with it I could go back to flying without any issues. What I genuinely found was that installing much of my existing scenery was as simple as just creating an entry in the P3D2 scenery.cfg that referred back to the FSX install locations That worked for all my UK2000 and Horizon photoscenery add-ons. Aircraft I installed separately, but just my Alabeo PA38, Aerosoft Bronco and Twotter and the Majestic Q400 for now. All of that took me about 30min
