  1. I successfully patched 2.3 to 2.4, Phil. I just followed Rob Ainscough's step by step procedure that he posted online at the time 2.4 was released.
  2. That's impressive, Kevin. I look forward to testing your updated files, although please bear in mind that I never get above 4000 feet!
  3. Steph, I have sent another email to Darren (hopefully he is still checking the ES email address), so I will let you know if I get an answer, and hopefully a resolution!
  4. I would prefer to see wind turbines scattered all over the place than have a few nuclear fission power stations creating extremely dodgy waste materials. After all, wind farms are great landmarks for FS
  5. Does this Soft Clouds package solve the problem of "flat bottoms" that REX clouds seem to have on my PC? I loaded up a cloud layer at 7/8 Broken, and it almost looks like a repeating pattern across my field of view. Surely there should be a far greater variety of cloud shapes (even with one particular type)? Do real world clouds all have flat bottoms, or is this a P3D problem?
  6. I have already emailed Darren and asked him to look at this thread, so hopefully he can help you with your problem, VoyagerPilot
  7. Thanks, Kevin. I had not seen that. However, I would be a lot happier to hear about a significant discount for existing owners of the FSX version of the 737NGX to switch to the P3D version (in other words, transfer the license from FSX to P3D). A working weather radar is very nice, but it isn't as important as how much it's going to cost me to purchase what is (effectively) the same aircraft all over again.
  8. Nigel, I will contact him, and direct him to this thread.
  9. You must be really unlucky, Nigel. I have hardly ever had a problem with ES products, and I have all of them. Have you tried contacting Darren directly? I am sure that he would be only too glad to help.
  10. FSX in DX10 mode never looked as good as it did in DX9 mode on my old i5 2500k powered PC, Nigel. The only advantage I could see was the superior VAS management. However, I do understand why some people are staying with FSX rather than switching to P3D. If it's working perfectly fine for you, then why bother? The chances are that any 64bit version 3 of P3D will break backwards compatibility anyway, so you will only have to start again. To be honest, I was even thinking about it myself whilst lying awake in bed this morning. Purchasing the PMDG 737NGX for P3D could be a costly exercise, particu
  11. Throughout the UK, when I am transferred from tower to approach control, one of the options offered is "flight following". This effectively monitors my progress, and transfers me to different approach zones as I pass through them. However, I do not get this option at all at any of the airports in the Republic of Ireland. The only similar option is to "request permission to fly through Charlie airspace" (whatever that is). Maybe the airspace is monitored differently over Ireland?
  12. Kevin, I notice that I never get the option for "flight following" when in the Republic of Ireland. Is this something that can be changed with this updated airspace classification, or is that a completetely separate issue?
  13. I can't see much in the changelog that would warrant wasting an entire weekend reinstalling everything. One item seems to suggest the possibility that the lights on AI planes may now be visible from greater distances, and another is something to do with contrails (which I would hope is a fix for the vertical exhaust trails of high flying AI airliners). However, other than those I can't see much of relevance to FS users. Most of the changes are related to SimDirector, so it looks like this update is aimed squarely at professional clients (which is hardly surprising).
  14. It looks like LM are setting up Prepar3d version 2.5 for final approach.... http://www.prepar3d.com/news/2015/01/97696/ What concerns me is that Rob Ainscough has indicated that there will probably not be a patch, which means that anyone wanting to upgrade to version 2.5 will have to reinstall the software from scratch. That is an entire weekend's work for me
  15. If civilian airliners and thunderstorms were Venn diagrams, then they would be mutually exclusive. I know that I will be criticised for a statement like that (bearing in mind that thunderstorms occur on a regular basis in certain parts of the world), but that's how I feel.
  16. That's way above my level of knowledge, Kevin. I just know that being asked to switch to "Manchester Center" when I have just departed EGHQ Newquay is a bit silly
  17. Kevin, Will this improved airspace file correct the "Center" areas across the UK?
  18. It looks like Flightstore are having a sale on ES products. The DVD versions of Isle of Man, Guernsey, Alderney and Isles of Scilly are selling for £10 each...... http://www.flightstore.co.uk/flight-simulation-c499/scenery-add-ons-c543/uk-other-scenery-c547
  19. The really sad part of this story is that Colin Pillinger died last year He was such an enthusiastic guy, and I wasn't aware that he had passed away until this news story appeared.
  20. You are missing out big time if you do not have ES Isle of Man, Nigel. It's a masterpiece as far as I am concerned.
  21. This is very sad news indeed. In addition to creating some of the best FS scenery packages ever developed, they were also extremely kind and helpful to me whenever I had a problem, and nothing was ever too much trouble. I know this sounds a bit selfish, but I am really disappointed that we will not see ES Jersey now unless some other company manages to take over development I wish Darren and Vikki the very best of luck for the future.
  22. So the NE British Isles package also covers Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland? That's great news. All the night lighting that I need in a single download Are you helping Aerosoft with custom airport night lighting? I have Heathrow Extended and Dublin, and obviously I would want extensive night lighting at both of these international airports!
  23. Chris, Are you intending to release Night Environment Ireland at any point? I have not done any night flying in FS at all (due to the poor night lighting that comes with the VFR GenX photoscenery), but I am keen to start experiencing this in P3D. Is the latest version of your product fully compatible with P3D? If so, can you help out the likes of Aerosoft to get their custom airport lights working properly! Default taxiway lights look rubbish with high detail airports and associated ground textures To be honest, I am not sure why some developers are having problems with this. Gary Summons
  24. What do the "Steam haters" dislike about it? I have several games installed through Steam (Assetto Corsa, Half Life 2, Deus Ex : Human Revolution), and everything works seamlessly (including updates).
