  1. It was only a short time ago that I was thinking it would be nice to see Tom at the next Cosford FlightSim Show (this was before he announced his terminal illness). Sadly, that will never happen now Very sad news indeed....
  2. Thanks, Kevin. I haven't been flying much lately, so I never got a chance to test your earlier release. Looking forward to the new UK Airspace experience!
  3. I have fond memories of visiting San Carlos airfield in Flight Unlimited 2 and 3. All of the airports and airfields in those two high resolution regions (San Francisco and Seattle) have a special place in my heart. I visited them frequently between 1999 and 2008, because FU3 was basically the only flight simulator that I used in that time!
  4. Anyone who is prepared to admit that they might have been wrong in public deserves all the kudos and forgiveness that they can get. I do not have an opinion either way on the global warming subject, but I am keen to see this information that you will hopefully be allowed to provide.
  5. Can you download Windows 10 as a free upgrade without installing it?
  6. I have no reason whatsoever to upgrade from Windows 7 64bit Home Premium.
  7. Nice to see you back, Patrick. Cosford 2015 will apparently be announced in the next issue of PC Pilot magazine, so you will have to wait until April 16!
  8. It looks like we will need to wait nearly a month, because the next issue of PC Pilot is scheduled for release on April 16.
  9. No worries, Joe. Last year's visit was a hugely enjoyable experience for me, and I have been looking forward to the 2015 show ever since! Purchasing a pre-order ticket is a no brainer for me
  10. Hopefully they are preparing to announce the Cosford 2015 FlightSim Show, and they have had to take the site offline for a short time because of the grandeur of the event
  11. Is anyone else experiencing problems accessing the JustFlight forum at the moment? I have been getting an error since last night.
  12. The 1959 October 2 eclipse would have been about 30% partial from West London. There was indeed an eclipse in 1961 (February 15), and it was a very good one. It would have been very early in the morning (so the Sun and Moon would have been close to the horizon), and probably around 92% partial from West London. The 1954 June 30 eclipse would have been about 78% partial from West London, but it was actually total at the extreme northern edge of Unst in the Shetland Isles.
  13. So, did anyone see it? It was cloudy in Ulverston, but amazingly the cloud thinned several times at the exact location of the Sun and Moon! If I was a religious man, I would say that God was doing me a favour!! I first saw it at around 8:45 AM when the Moon had taken a small chunk out of the Sun. This was followed by 9:10 AM, 9:25 AM, and (crucially) 9:30 AM (the moment of maximum eclipse). The ambient light had noticeably dimmed by that point, and looking at the eclipse through cloud (as opposed to those special filters) was superb. I am really pleased that I got to see the moment of maximum
  14. I have recently started experimenting with photoscenery base images for some of the UK airports that have not been given the UK2000 Xtreme treatment yet. Significantly higher resolution than the existing photoscenery, but the main problem is misalignment of the airport buildings and AFD elements. This is worse at some airports than others, and can require a significant amount of work if you are a perfectionist like me I have done this so far for EGNV Durham Tees Valley and EGTE Exeter (well, this is almost done), and I will also be looking at EGHH Bournemouth and EGHQ Newquay. The buildings a
  15. Does this tweak work in both Limited and Unlimited framerate modes?
  16. Haven't you just purchased an Nvidia card, Kevin? I saw an AMD card owner report over at AVSIM that they couldn't see a difference, but plenty of Nvidia owners have been skipping around the schoolyard with glee!
  17. The PMDG 737NGX installer does not ask for an authentication code. That is only requested when you select the aircraft from the Vehicles Menu. I assume it would be the same for the 777.
  18. I certainly hope he's OK. Who's going to fly the Falcon if he's out of action?
  19. I have just tested the NGX at Scotflight EGPD Aberdeen (the new v3.1 upgrade for P3Dv2), and the framerate was flawless. This was with maybe 15 UT2 AI planes at the airport. Now to test it at UK2000 EGAA Belfast Aldergrove with ORBx FTX Northern Ireland (and autogen and scenery complexity at maximum)....
  20. Good heavens, you've spent more than I have this month, Kevin. I had to fork out £200 for a new Logitech G27 wheel for my race simulation (Assetto Corsa) after my old G25 failed (it was four or five years old, so I got plenty of use out of it), and then £64 for the P3D version of the NGX. Hopefully, I will not have to spend any more money for a while.
  21. Kevin, Where were you experiencing low framerates? Was this in very dense scenery with lots of autogen, or just on a general level? I have just set up the NGX for my test flights, and a quick "launch" from my test airfield (EGUO RAF Colerne) indicated very smooth framerates in that area. It is not a particularly dense scenery area (VFR GenX photoscenery, ES Treescapes, UK2000 VFR Airfields at maximum detail levels), but I didn't notice any stutters or glitches during the short test. I will take it to a dense scenery area with lots of AI planes, and see how it behaves.
  22. I never had a problem with framerates in the NGX when using FSX, so hopefully that will be the case in P3D. I will certainly let you know, Kevin. I intend to purchase the base package and the 600/700 expansion when I get home from work.
  23. It would probably have been around 96% partial from Bristol (if not more).
  24. That could well have been the annular solar eclipse of 2012 May 20. I bet it was a spectacular sight
