  1. Interesting developments indeed. I will reserve judgment until Kevin's operatives return from their secret mission with the required info
  2. Give us a shout when you have Northern Ireland done
  3. I wouldn't know, Nigel. The only FTX region that I have installed is Northern Ireland, and I would disable that if I could get good quality photographic scenery for the region. I say "disable" (as opposed to uninstall) because, contrary to what the ORBx documentation may suggest, you do NOT specifically need FTX England to run the ORBx UK airports and airfields that have been released. You just need one of the UK regions. Hopefully I will be able to sort out the water in P3D one day, but I get the feeling that it will be due to blind luck more than anything else.
  4. It's worth noting that my GPU has only 2GB VRAM, but it may also be significant that I run P3D at "only" 1280x1024 resolution, and with Level of Detail set to "High" (LOD 4.5). However, other than Tessellation Factor (which is set to Medium), all other settings are at Maximum (including Scenery Complexity, Autogen Density, and Water), apart from Shadows....and this could be a key factor. I usually run P3D with Clear Skies, so cloud shadows aren't really necessary. The only shadows that I have active at the moment are those cast by my own plane (both internal in the VC, and external). To be
  5. That is not the case for everyone, Nigel. I run P3D at very high detail settings, and I get smooth framerates flying the PMDG 737NGX into Aerosoft's Heathrow.....and that's with UT2 AI @ 100%.
  6. I think he is referring to the map display, Ray. If that's the case, then it's a bug with the GenX scenery, and it can't be cured. It always displays as water rather than land.
  7. Where are the textures located for the pylons and wind turbines? I would have thought that they would be in exactly the same location in P3D v2.5 as they are in v2.4.
  8. John, As I mentioned in the post above yours, I only use the electricity pylons and wind turbines from the FSX Power Project. However, I can confirm that these all work fine in P3D v2.4.
  9. So why did the copilot lock the captain out of the flight deck? Why did he not respond to repeated requests to unlock the door? Why did the aircraft start to descend at exactly the same time? I would be astonished if anyone is seriously considering this.
  10. Well, that's a surprise. Does this mean that they might also bring the Cessna Citation Mustang to the P3D table? That would be of great interest to me.
  11. The RealAir Simulations Beechcraft Duke B60 (Version 2) is a great twin piston engine aircraft, and they also sell an impressive Turbine Duke (with twin Pratt & Whitney PT6A turboprops). RealAir Simulations are the cream of the crop as far as quality and accuracy are concerned.
  12. I may well be doing exactly the same thing, Kevin.
  13. That sounds good, Joe. It would be nice to get the chance to talk with you all in a bit more depth.
  14. Looking forward to seeing you again, Patrick.....together with all the guys I met last year, and anyone else who fancies joining the party!
  15. I have just purchased my ticket! Looking forward to meeting you, Kevin....and also everyone else that I met last year
  16. Actually, I have a suspicion that my ES TreeScapes trees in England and Wales have been replaced with the original ORBx tree textures. If that's the case, then maybe installation of the HD Trees will do the same again?
  17. Have you created water masks for all that scenery, Michael?
  18. The PMDG 737NGX is working just fine in P3D for me, Nigel. Nice framerates, even in dense scenery areas and with lots of AI traffic.
  19. I was under the impression that nothing came of the meeting between Darren/Vikki and John Venema? Or maybe that's what John wanted us all to think? Do you have confirmation of that, Nigel?
  20. Yes, I am well aware of Kevin's little project. Whilst I am amzed by what he has done so far, you can't argue that Earth Simulations were one of the top FS software developers where UK stuff was concerned. ES Jersey would have been amazing. We need a whip around for Darren and Vikki. I'll start it off with two shiny pound coins. Who's next?
  21. Please let us know how you get on, James. ES Isle of Man is (IMO) one of the best scenery packages that has ever been developed for FSX. You will be astonished by the level of detail across the entire island when you get it working properly. ES Guernsey is also extremely impressive, which is why I am so disappointed that we will never see an ES Jersey
  22. That isn't Earth Simulations Isle of Man. The ES version is vastly more detailed.
  23. Where do these files go again? I have forgotten... EDIT: Found it.
  24. The wind turbines display and work just fine in P3D on my PC, so you don't need to worry, Dave Looking forward to seeing those extra pylons
