The Great Australian Air Rally 2011 - GAAR 2011
ddavid replied to ddavid's topic in MHFC Captains Lounge
Aidan - Andrew, the GAAR organiser, is quite right about the time. If you tooke 48 mins, you must have stopped for a cuppa on the way... We've been given the go ahead for a Team entry, but if you want to continue as an individual that's great. Hopefully, Rob and I will set the Team entry up sometime later today. Cheers - Dai. -

The Great Australian Air Rally 2011 - GAAR 2011

Hi All - thanks for the responses. Some thoughts on this: 1. We could possibly treat the GAAR 2011 as one of our Mini Challenges, each of us taking on 1 or more Legs, but we need to consider... 2. GAAR Rules! First off, I think, as a team from the Hangar, we'd all have to fly the same aircraft. Now that might not be a problem - if we can agree on one!! 3. GAAR Rules, again - the PIREP's must be submitted on time, so we need to have commitment, otherwise we'll be slung out (well, almost). 4. I'm not sure, but I think we could choose to fly either FSX or FS9 - so that makes things easier. 5 -
Welcome to Stornaway, Bri' - enjoy your meal, you deserve it! That red sunrise was a surprise, I bet! Glad you sorted the ILS... Great pics and commentary - keep the standard flying, eh?!? Cheers - Dai. P.S. Young Ms S. is a kitten, really...

Here's the route for GAAR 2011: There are some short strips and the organiser promises some challenging weather conditions. I've registered and would like some company... Cheers - Dai. -
May I say, at this jucture, that I am not related to any of the characters... Oh dear - I've just seen the first 10 minutes of episode 1 on BBC iPlayer... Cheers - Dai.

This is a 10 Leg Tour - it follows a course which starts at Coolangata (YBCG) and continues up the magnificent east coast of Queensland taking in the Great Barrier Reef and surrounding islands and interspersed with deviations inland before finishing in Far North Queensland at Cairns (YBCS). Anyone can participate, but you are limited to using any radial or other piston engined aircraft that flew in the period 1930s to 1950s. Turboprop, turbojet, turbofan and other such engined aircraft are not eligible for entry in the event - but don't let that put you off! More info here And have yoursel

HELP please FSX Hangs on start up
ddavid replied to Tregarth's topic in Flight Simulator X (FSX) / FSX Steam Edition
Joe might mean the following: 1. Create a folder called, say, Standby_Hangar; 2. Look in your ...\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes folder, where you will find a folder for each of the aircraft currently in your "Ready for Use" Hangar; 3. Look through these 'Airplane' folders and decide which you need and which you can 'put on the back boiler'; 4. Transfer the 'Airplane' folders you don't need to the 'Standby_Hangar' folder - you can put them back when you want. Basically, reducing the number of aircraft in the 'Ready to Use Hangar' in FSX can make initial loading faster. -

Really enjoyed your Review, Mikael - thanks for a great introduction to what looks like an excellent add-on. Cheers - Dai. -
Hi Edward Sorry to disagree with you, Boss, but 450 Watts is a bit low - 750 Watts might be a better bet? Also, take a look at what Dell puts into their offerings (i.e. processor, amount of RAM, etc) at around the price you want to pay - that'll give you an idea of what you should be getting for your £370 odd. Oh, and don't forget that the O.S. could take out the £70 at one stroke! Cheers - Dai.
