Lame Duck - B17 limps home after being ambushed. [FINAL]
reef replied to simi_av8r's topic in Art & Edits
Hey simi, its really coming together now  I'm glad the tip helped although i think it was a little overdone, personal taste of course. If i could maybe just offer a couple of finishing touch tips. The fronts of the engines look very bright and silvery, maybe a little toning down would look good. Select a dark color maybe brown/black mix set to about 5% and just tone them down with a few touches. The other is the blacks are very black and my art teacher always told me, never use black. With it being a day picture its very unlikely with all the light around you would see true black. In PS -

Hey simi. For the top ball i'm assuming you mean how to get it looking like the glass is reflecting the natural light around the aircraft. I would zoom in close and select carefully all the glass on the turret but only the glass not the metal frame. Then decide where the sun is in your picture by looking at the shadows you have. Then with a small softedge brush loaded with white set to about 4%-6% start to draw on the glass the sun refelecting. Each time you add a new layer of paint make it just that bit wider into more of the glass. Do this till your happy and occasionally deselct reselect t -
I think your all way off, Its one of those fancy hot air balloons with a high-tech living pod borrowed from Branson. As to where your going  Around the world in 80 days of course i'm so smart! steve

AT least my framerate would be decent in the first shot. A little AA and it will look just fine. steve

Looking good so far. I agree with john about the smoke and damage. Smoke looks good but too far forward. Be careful with your bullet holes, they look a bit repetetive. Quite often a bullet would create quite an irregular hole as the bullet ripped through. Good work, especially like the smoke you created. steve -
Thanks chaps. The Crows were a very late addition, was actually looking for a suitable ground crew shot and came upon the crows by accident Cheers.... steve.

A fantastic flight and loved the venice shots. I actually read this when you posted it but have being having trouble getting the post screen to load. My dodgey connection i think. Great work though. steve -
Hey guys, Thanks again for the comments. The skin and aircraft (DSB) are from avsim, look for ct-155_photreal.zip and cafhawk.zip Heres an unedited shot just to show most of what i did was just lighting for the background and a few subtle reflections in the water. Cheers... steve

Thanks guys. The guy who made the skin did the hard work, i just flew it around a bit. Thanks for looking... steve

Hey chaps. 2 shots of the Canadian CT-155 Trainer. Thanks for looking... steve

Not bad simi, bit drawn out and slow for my liking. Some nice footage in there. steve

Hey Joe. Only VFR West is avaliable which i thought very odd as they released GA1 in the North and GA? in Bavaria i think and neither are in the VFR released. I certainly look forward to the VFR North as flights to the Islands or even England with full Photoscenery at both ends will be nice. steve

Look forward to the review Joe. Will be interesting to see if you like it as much as i do. Also you will probably see why i'm looking foreward to the North coast getting its VFR treatment. I'm thinking hegoland will compliment this scenery pretty well. steve

Not my cup of tea but that has to be one of the best model/texture i have ever seen. Feels like you can touch it :eyebrow: deffinately worth an edit Joe, if you get time that is  steve

Thanks chris, glad you like my depth I usually fly whatever weather FS chucks at me so the clouds just happened to be nice that day. thanks for looking...steve

Aye Joe, its kirks now pretty old model. Still a great package in my opinion though. VC is not fuctional but gives a good feel of being sat in it. Seems art and edits is the dark side of Mutleys', does not draw much of a crowd Glad you liked the buildings, spent quite a bit of time editing that glass and brickwork  Thanks for your comments.... steve
