  1. I'll install it on my sacrificial laptop later (ie not an important PC), along with IE69 and see what breaks...
  2. Switched: No idea. Best bet is to bring up the FSX command assignments page and look through it. When converting between weight and volume for fuel (lbs and US Gallons are the common units here), you need to know the specific gravity of the fuel. For Jet-A1 it is 6.79 (ie 1 US gallon weighs 6.79 lbs) and for AVGAS it is 6.02. It's commonly approximated to 1usg = 7lbs for JetA1 and 1usg = 6lbs for Avgas. ( For metric, it's JetA1=0.8 and AVGAS=0.71 ie 1 litre of Jet-A is 0.8 Kg). My handy dandy units converter app tells me 1 US gallon = 3.785 litres 1 imp gallon = 4.546 litres 1 imp gallon

There was a new update (2.0.5) released a couple of days ago...

Well, there are lists and maps included in the documentation, and if you have Plan-G, they are all included in that too.

Depends massively on what you want to fly, and whether you want to explore an area or jump about... If it's bigjets, then Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne are your boys. For light GA, Aeropelican, Warnervale, Cessnock, Coffs Harbour form a nice little cluster between Sydney and Brisbane. Don't forget the freeware downloads, and the OZx strips. You'll find some real gems among them.
  6. I don't know, that thig is so bloomin' big, I'm sure someone could fly under it... [challenge!]

No. Years.... (in 18 months I've managed to see about 1/4 of Australia, and I'm making a concerted effort to touch wheels at every airport!)
  8. Not being a tube flyer, there's no reference of scale I can really relate to. I presume a Cessna 172 would simply be crushed beneath its right wheel without it noticing...

Might get an award for best wheelie...
  10. Alas, poor Finistère, she was moderate or good, occasionally poor. Backing southerly she was usurped by Fitzroy in 2002. RIP. As for the airline that bears her name (and indeed that of the region in France), it's based out of Brest. Which reminds me of my favourite Flight Information Service... :th_smiles73:
  11. I left this one full scale, although it's cropped down from being mega-wide (hope you don't mind).

Continuing my theme of incompetant AirHauler minions, I was following one of my AIs on approach into my Madrid base (first time I've actually arrived at an airport at the same time as a company AI). Barnes Wallis was the minion pilot, famous for his, er, bouncy landings. Anyhow all was fine; he vacated the runway and I landed behined, and taxied to the apron. Now either the W&B minion that I fired from Alderney has got a new job in Madrid, or Barnes Wallis has put on a *lot* of weight! (must be all that tapas...) (and okay, yes I know I haven't painted up the Caravans yet )
  13. Interesting; I'm currently averaging 46 usg/hr (23 a side. Actually slightly under - that's rounded up). But I don't generally go much above FL160, 200 at a push, & I trim for about 65% power...
  14. Petropavlovsk, and then Japan, I think. It gets a bit more vague after that. Probably South Korea. China looks to be pretty difficult (very few airports), so it's either North through Mongolia, or South to the Himalayas and India.
  15. Leg 5: PAHP Hooper Bay to PASY Eareckson Air Station Distance: 827nm (total distance: 2500nm) Flight time: 4.4 hours (total time: 14.5 hours) Fuel: 195 usg (total fuel: 668 usg) There was a shorter route across the sea, to Provedenia Bay, but that's little more than a strip, with no facilities, and would effectively leave us stranded on the Chukchi Peninsula, with very little (in the default FS) in range. And so we strike out across the sea, for 827 gruelling miles... Lining up at Hooper Bay And We're off The American mainland recedes into the distance. We're climbing to FL200
  16. My piston Duke is parked somewhere in the Bering Sea (must post that flight... 4 hours at FL200 cost me a fortune in virtual fuel, even at American prices!) As soon as it gets back to Blighty, it's going on Trade-A-Plane, and then G-DUKE goes Royal...

Do you have DX10 Preview switched on? (if so, switch it off...)
  18. And back it goes to the old one... ! :th_smiles73:
  19. You'd think... Unfortunately, in this particular area, FSX is, how shall I put it, a little inadequate.
  20. I'd be unlikely to seek out a full blown modellers forum, but having a subforum here might well give me the impetus to finish (or, in some cases start) the kits that I have mouldering away in a big box at the back of the wardrobe...
  21. Excellent; looking forward to reading some more reports. Are you running in career mode?
  22. Shows just how poor the visibility can be on a "nice clear day"! Looks like you had a great time Did you manage to steal the Mona Lisa?
  23. You could argue that the Royal Turbine Duke is a 'jailbreak' style mod (Ok, so it has to have an STC and all the paperwork that goes with it). Maybe Beechcraft should go after Rocket Engineering... , Aircraft mods are nothing new, whether it's STOL kits for a Cessna, GamiJectors, Colemill Panther mods for Pipers, turbine engine upgrades, etc. People modify and tinker with their cars, PCs, cameras, DVD players (got a region-free hack?) and all sorts of personal electronics every day. Why should a Playstation be any different?
  24. No, no scenery changes, and the previous day's backup worked fine. I've still got the corrupt one, so I may investigate it further sometime, in the event that I run out of things to do... Edit: Just discovered that one of the minions, in a landing that the BEA preliminary report described as 'suicidal' (BEA = Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses pour la sécurité de l’aviation civile. The French equivalent of the AAIB) Unfortunately, the plane she did a massive amount of damage to was the only plane I own outright. She won't get a good reference when she leaves hospital.
