The flickering taxi and runways are definitely fixed by the Steve's soft. The issues with the ATI drivers are coming up with the newest versions...if you have an older (and working) ATI driver, that might work.

The DX10 fixer repairs everything what is possible to fix in FSX, regarding the DX10 part. Meaning the black boxes around light bulbs, missing bridges, fences, and so on. As far as i know it can have some (very rare) issues with some very old ported Fs9 models. But if you have an ATI card, you will still have problems because of the water textures. That comes from the ATI driver and there is no fix for it (tbh i didn't tried it lately). Some people managed to get it working by reducing the water details and reflections to minimum. Afaik, DX 10 its not working with ATI. Well, its working but it starts flickering (and throw some artefacts) as soon as it sees a piece of water texture. And ATI doesn't seem to have the will to fix it.

I'm afraid that won't fix the "prop behind clouds" effect....that's why i gave up on many free, but very nice models. I just find it way too annoying. Its related to the FS9 model file, which is somehow different than the FSX. Don't get on your nerves Allan. The best you can do, is to fly these port-overs with clear sky. Still, you might have some issues with the autogen objects on the ground (same as with the clouds). Eddie

That's a solution too. Anyway, don't ever use the browser pop-ups to update anything, be that java, flash or whatnot. Usually there is a boar inside of those "offers".

Java should be up to date, so yes, install the update. Though less and less sites are using it (vulnerability issues). In Firefox you can get a warning that the page is asking for java, so you can allow it or not.
